I agree, i think that we can say he did what he did with Tam because of what you said and i also think because at that point in time he seemed to have repressed what he knew had actually happened to him, but when the newspaper article came out about his Grandfather we saw him gradually not being able to keep it to himself anymore because he had been forced to confront it. And then this could have been what influenced him with girls in the future because the abuse was suddenly playing a major role in his life in a different way to what it had before, i.e. him moving out of his father's house. I'm not quite sure that all made sense, but i hope it did! lol

You just touched on one of the most contraversial subjects in the criminal justice system today. What Aden went through means he is more predisposed to a 'crimogenic need' these are things such as being abused at home, physically or sexually, domestic violence (maybe not even against a child but a father beating a child's mother), or even substance abuse in the home etc. The main debate with 'crimogenic needs' is whether it's an excuse or just an explanation. Criminologists who actually study why crime occurs are more likely to say that it's an explanation. However, politics, especially in England, with one of Jack Straw's (Ministry of Justice) latest speeches, has tried to convince the public that it as an excuse, and victim support is more important than offender support. Re-balancing the criminal justice system in favour of the victim as it's called. As politicians are more in the public eye than criminologists it is more likely that any given member of the public would agree, especially when they have the wool pulled over their eyes by politicians saying what they want the public to hear, instead of the actual truth (They are in a position of trust so it's only natural that we accept what they say). All with the intention of keeping the public safe and not afraid of what's out there, so probably necessary... The judges comments when giving Aden the verdict reflect this as he said that 'Abuse of a child is one of the most hanus acts imaginable but that being said we are all the authors of our own destiny' or something along those lines. So he took into account Aden's mitigating circumstances and thereby showing he believed Aden's abuse to be the underlying cause (especially given the specificity of the case) but not an excuse for his behaviour. Anyway, i just wanted to give a bit of information about why Aden might have reacted the way he did, and with real life evidence it's a wonder he didn't become more of a criminal before, although we did see him taking drugs, buying alcohol underage etc. Most people will be able to work through their problems with a counsellor as long as they actually want to so if we are to assume that Aden continued with these sessions (even if we haven't seen so on screen) then i see no reason to think he's dangerous. I think the main point of Aden's case is that he didn't go out into the world and decide to kidnap or hurt some innocent person who he doesn't know, which would be what made him a psychopath (and he's definitely not a psychopath because the definition of a psychopath is that they don't feel guilt and Aden defnitely does, even if he doesn't show it for some time afterwards (except with the Axel thing, i'll give you that, lol). In regards to your last paragraph, i thought that was all implied anyway and further emphasises that at that time, Aden did realise he could go to jail but he didn't care because it would be worth it if it meant killing his Dad would stop him being in pain. I also think that before this happened, Belle didn't realise quite how much Aden was affected by it, or how much it really affects any person. So in conclusion, I feel that I definitely cannot excuse Aden's behaviour but I can accept that the abuse and his home life growing up (Events any child goes through can have an effect on them in later life, especially the later stages of puberty... especially when individuals begin to become sexually active - Evidence for this from many psychologists) is possibly one explanation for it and that he has had a fitting, humane punishment, for which he has been judged by the character and remorse he showed whilst on the stand. I feel like i just wrote an essay (I'm meant to be writing one right now on a similar subject so i guess this is just practice, lol) although this was fairly biased and though i agree with what i said, i can't deny that Red Ranger 1 and others have made some good points.

Wow... i so nearly cried and i don't even know why, you just wrote that so beautifully... i love that you haven't used dialogue, it's different and i feel like we feel what the characters do because we are learning everything through their own heads. The description of her seeing the baby for the first time and how she felt alone until then... was just amazing! I seriously love this so much so please update soon! I too agree with a lot of your points Red Ranger 1 especially where Axel is concerned. He did seem to show absolutely no remorse for his actions, and then Belle suddenly seeming not to care anymore was very unbelievable. And then Aden had the nerve to get angry at his father for killing Axel when he could have very nearly done it himself. I also like the period where we saw a new side to Aden yet other characters still stuck to their opinions of him, and now the one thing i hate is that they never gave an explanation as to why characters like Irene and Alf suddenly started to like him. I also agree that he did spend a ridiculously short amount of time in the psychiatric clinic and they should have at least given us some indication that he is still in some form of therapy, however i don't think he was thinking clearly when his Dad told him about the abuse he had suffered himself and the fact that Aden had always blamed his father's drinking for what he suffered and therefore his father meant it was hard for him to go suddenly from that; to empathising with Larry, and i found it more believable that he would lash out in the way he did than suddenly have a complete turn around. People kill members of their family every day in the real world so my opinion is that we can't gloss over Aden's actions and say that that would never happen and it was totally unreasonable because i think it could be (obviously i don't think what Aden did was right, just understandable). Your point about Aden and the Criminal Justice system i find a little weary as i'm studying Criminal Justice at university and a lot weirder things have happened in the Criminal Justice System. In response to Slade, it's quite rare for people to actually get transferred to an institution rather than prison, it's more reserved for people who are quite clearly dangerous (they'll more likely be told to go to a clinic but they don't have to be a permanent resident (I just want to say that i am not at all 100% sure on this, but it is an informed opinion of sorts), it does happen but you'll find that most people want to help offenders rather than see them rot and i think in Aden's case, the judge felt that sending Aden to prison would do no one any good as obviously none of the victims wanted Aden to go to jail and if he did; it would probably destroy him further. You can also see the prosecution in Aden's case actually looks relieved with the verdict because no matter what you think of them, they're still human beings. The ultimate questions are: Are they likely to reoffend? and; are they a danger to society? Slade i don't want to spoil you if you don't want to be spoiled so i'll put this in spoiler tags

I am a HUGE fan of Aden and Belle as a couple and i didn't actually realise how much until they broke up. That being said i DEFINITELY agree with some of the negative points being made against them. However, in my opinion, them going from disliking each other to liking each other wasn't rushed. Before they got together the only time i can recall that Aden was actually horrible to Belle was when he shouted at her about the newspaper article which was a long time before they got together. And during the interview for that; Aden was nothing but nice, admittedly it was quite sarcastic but i never really got the impression that he disliked her. And when Aden started working at the diner i think that he saw another side to Belle and he was able to trust people more now (like Roman) so maybe felt there was more hope of him actually being attracted to a girl and doing somethng about it... but it took a while for her to see the other side of him, as he was constantly flirting, (but in the same kind of way that he used to, his trademark line 'i know you want me' being used a fair few times.) and she just kept knocking him back as she was still used to how he used to behave. That being said, they definitely rushed into sleeping together, i thought that was very unrealistic but i understand why the writers did it, otherwise i don't think the kidnapping would have had as much impact on either character. Personally, i think that they've only ever broken up twice really, when he called her a skank and the breakdown, the other times people refer to, i think was them just learning one another's boundaries and were arguments or fights rather than actual break ups. Whereas some people say this dislike this, it actually made me like them more because it showed there was going to be more to their relationship than just flinging two characters together. As for the 'hype' that people say made them dislike them as a couple, you only notice the hype if you do more than just watch the show and that's an individual's decision but means that an opinion formed is fairly biased and may be different if that person only watched the show. (This bit might seem like i'm arguing but i'm trying not to, it's just my opinion, lol) The cheating storyline i definitely did not agree with and I didn't like Belle doing that, especially considering what her experiences of cheating have been before; but that being said if it was all nice and dandy no one would watch it. And it's meant to resemble real life and the fact of real life is that people do cheat and i think it's a plot device that hasn't made me dislike Belle, only dislike her actions. I'm looking to seeing Aden and Belle scenes now; that show them being a real couple, out in the open, even if there is still some angst to come.
