Bree must be honest with Nelson. Iluka takes a shine to a Summer Bay local. Eden tries to broker peace between Cash and Remi.
Extended Summary
Remi and Eden are walking by the coffee cart. Remi is annoyed that Eden has taken his bike keys but Eden thinks he isn’t in the right state of mind to be riding. They notice Nelson chatting to Alf, and Eden convinces Remi they should go over. Nelson is saying that the police haven’t released Stevie’s body for a funeral yet but promises to keep them in the loop. Alf notes Remi and Nelson have both been through the wringer and asks about Cash. Nelson suggests Remi pick up anything he’s left at the accomodation since he’s leaving in a couple of days. Meanwhile, Felicity turns off Death Throes and tries to convince Cash to go somewhere or contact Eden. Cash says Eden’s looking after Remi, who needs her more.
Bree apologises for unloading to Rose and admits Nelson doesn’t know about Remi. She says she went over to support Remi and calls the kiss muscle memory. She doesn’t think she can go with Nelson while she still has feelings for Remi. Rose asks if she has a future with Remi. Bree says even if she doesn’t she thinks about him all the time and needs to be honest with Nelson.
Iluka tries to tell Remi that Elandra’s worrying about nothing but Mali insists on answers. Iluka reminds him about Nat Allen and her brothers, who live down the road from their mum. He hasn’t been working for them, just hanging out, but was there when the police turned up and arrested everyone for receiving stolen car parts. He was “not that involved” and the police let him go without charge but the Allens were given extra charges and think he told on them. He can’t go to the police for help so he’s hiding out there. Mali agrees to take him somewhere for a drink.
Alf joins Roo outside the surf club. They note Martha keeps phoning them, concerned, despite them assuring her the shooter’s locked up. Mali and Iluka turn up to see the surf club and Mali introduces Iluka to everyone. Iluka says he’s just there to visit Mali. After the Stewarts have gone, Mali notes they’ve been good to him. Iluka notices Kirby having a shower and says he hopes all the locals are that nice.
At the Lyrik house, Eden tries to get Remi to come to a gig while he still wants his keys back. Felicity turns up and Remi objects to her walking in uninvited. Felicity says what he said to Cash wasn’t cool. Remi says he’s not doing this and walks out. Felicity tells Eden about Cash being back and how he isn’t in a good place. Eden doesn’t want to leave Remi but Felicity comments that Remi seems to want to be on his own and Cash needs her as much if not more.
Rose has joined Iluka and Mali for a drink in Salt. Iluka and Mali tell an anecdote about Mr Peterson, a grumpy old teacher at their school: Iluka took his car engine apart and hung the parts up in the workshop, with Mali looking out for him. He asks about Kirby and they warn him she’s Mali’s surf instructor and a good friend of Kirby’s. After Iluka’s gone, Rose wonders why he’s there. Mali says he’s just visiting but looks worried after he’s gone to the bar.
Downstairs, Iluka approaches Kirby at the surf shop and addresses her by name, explaining he’s Mali’s older better-looking brother. Kirby notes arrogance runs in the family and he calls it confidence. He notices the photo of Mali as a boy with their dad hanging up, then suggests they have a game of pool when she’s finished work. Kirby suggests a drink instead and he agrees that’s a much better idea.
Outside somewhere, Bree has seemingly filled Nelson in on the kiss with Remi. Nelson notes he thought she wanted to discuss the trip and Bree says it didn’t feel right without him knowing. Nelson thanks her for her honesty and asks for space to think. Meanwhile, Kirby and Iluka have joined Mali and Rose up in Salt. Iluka is impressed that Kirby’s a pop star and Mali has to stop him offering a rather ribald song lyric. Mali says he’ll get another round in; Rose protests that he’s got them all in and Iluka says Mali knows how to look after family. Kirby and Iluka flirt while Rose looks on, worried.
Felicity tries to convince Cash they should go on a road trip with Gary and go fishing. Cash notes she hates fishing and Felicity suggests she might have changed her mind. Cash remarks she must be really worried about him. Eden turns up and Felicity hands Cash over to her. Eden says Cash should have let her know he was back. She asks him to come and talk to Remi. Cash doesn’t think it’s a good idea but Eden says they’ve both lost someone they cared about and it might help.
Soon after, Eden drags Remi into the front room where Cash is waiting. Remi doesn’t intend to apologise and Cash says he doesn’t want him to: He let his guard down and if he hadn’t, Stevie would probably still be alive. Remi isn’t impressed and ends up snapping at Eden before storming out.
Next morning, Kirby is setting up a class on the beach. Iluka approaches on his way to a surf and she notes he can’t be there when the students turn up. Rose and Mali watch from the headland and Rose wonders if they should be worried. Mali goes over to Kirby and warns her Iluka isn’t interested in a long-term relationship. Kirby thanks him but notes she’d already worked that out.
At the Newman house, Eden is disappointed when Cash appears before she can bring him breakfast in bed and admits last night was a dumb idea. Cash doesn’t think it was dumb, just too soon. He says it’s taught him that he needs to pull himself out of things: He’s just going to take things one step at a time until the security company finish their report. He advises Eden to be there for Remi.
At the coffee cart, Marilyn gives Roo a croissant with her coffee, saying there’s a free pastry with every purchase, and follows it up by giving Bree a coffee and danish. Bree runs into Nelson who apologises for leaving her hanging and says he still wants her to come. Bree says she’s been thinking as well and realised she can’t go. Nelson is slightly exasperated but says he’s glad he got to spend a bit of time with her. Remi arrives just in time to see them kiss and walks away, disgusted, as they say goodbye.
Soon after, Eden comes home to find Remi about to leave, having found the keys. She notes he must have turned her room upside down to find them. She refuses to let him go and asks if this is really all about Stevie. Remi tells her about seeing Bree all over her new boyfriend and explains she kissed him.
Marilyn gives Alf some cinnamon scrolls and pastries for the trip to see Martha, dismissing his suggestion that Leah and Irene would rather he paid. Roo says Alf’s just going to miss out on seeing Irene. Marilyn thinks she’s not back for ages but Roo explains she’s pack that afternoon. After Alf’s gone, Marilyn asks Roo to help her: She’s made a terrible mistake.
Eden notes she should have known this was about Bree but it doesn’t change what a pain Remi’s been. She thinks he and Bree need to sort it out before he pushes everyone away.
