Extended Summary
Cash and Felicity are walking through a park area. Felicity is shocked that the security company stood Cash down but he says it’s standard procedure. She asks about the mistrial and he explains Wickham’s defence argued he shouldn’t be kept in custody and the judge bailed him until his next court date. Cash knows Felicity went to Tane’s trial despite him not wanting her to and she says it didn’t feel right not going. They see Nelson standing by Stevie’s new memorial and Felicity encourages Cash to go and talk to him while she goes to work. Nelson tells Cash he’s barely had a chance to think about her being gone whilst dealing with the producers, the police and the crew. He says he needs an answer as to how.
At the surf club, Harper has obviously brought Mali up to speed and Mali wonders how she’s going to handle it. Harper cuts the conversation short as Felicity comes in and wonders why they’re not upstairs celebrating. Mali says they wanted some fresh air, then realises that doesn’t make sense and says they were distracted by the couches. Felicity notes Harper’s going to miss Tane and Mali quickly cuts in to say it’s one less person using up the hot water at his place. Harper heads home, where Dana notes she didn’t hear her come in last night and wonders if she stayed up talking with Tane. Harper says “Kind of” and tries to make an exit. Dana asks if she did more than talking and slept with him. Harper confirms she did before shutting her bedroom door in a excited Dana’s face.
At the coffee cart, Rose and Bree chat about Tane. Rose wonders how Nelson is. Bree admits she hasn’t heard from him, just before she gets a text from him. Marilyn gives Bree a free bag as she leaves. Rose orders coffees for her and Mali, and Marilyn gives her some free treats too before admitting everyone’s having some. Alf has arrived during the exchange and Rose thanks him for supporting Mali. Marilyn gives him some treats too. Alf wonders if Leah and Irene know she’s giving their stuff away.
On the Salt balcony, Nelson reflects that Stevie might still be alive if someone had called Cash. Cash admits he should have been keeping an eye on the trial and got complacent. Nelson says they all thought the sentencing was a done deal. Bree turns up and Nelson notes the producers are dragging their feet on pulling the plug on the film. He gets a call from them. Cash asks Bree about Remi and she admits she hasn’t seen him in a couple of days. Cash offers to call Eden and see how he is.
Harper and Dana walk near the beach. Harper isn’t keen to talk about things. Dana says everyone makes mistakes: They all thought Tane was going to jail, it’s understandable Harper would want to comfort him, they’re both adults and one day they’ll laugh about it. Harper falls silent and Dana wonders if there’s more to it. Harper admits she really likes him.
Nelson returns from his phone call and tells Cash and Bree the producers want to recast Stevie’s role, since they only shot for four days. Even though it’s clear Nelson disapproves of the decision, Cash unleashes a tirade at him, saying they can’t replace Stevie as if she never existed. Felicity comes over having overheard but Cash storms off.
Down on the beach, Kirby has just finished a class. Mali tells her she did a good job and the class like her. Rose comes along and is set to head off with Mali. Kirby wonders if he wants to stay and supervise, jokingly asking which end of the board is the front and what the rope’s for. Mali and Rose walk away, noting they’re both off work, Tane’s away and so are Mackenzie and Levi for a couple of days, meaning they have the place to themselves.
Dana asks Harper if she and Tane are going to be a thing. Harper says they didn’t really have a chance to talk after. Dana suggests Harper should call him but Harper thinks they should do it in person. Dana says at least she’s got tons of time to think about it while Harper says she’ll overthink it. Dana promises they won’t talk about it but says Harper and Tane would be cute together.
Felicity tries to call Cash. Nelson and Bree discuss the producers’ decision before Nelson decides to go for a walk. Felicity thinks Cash will understand once Nelson explains but Bree points out he didn’t give him a chance. She wonders if he needs to see a counsellor. Meanwhile, Harper and Dana arrive at the Diner with Dana continuing to promise they won’t talk. Marilyn tries to offer them a deal on wraps before offering them more free food. She says Tane’s lucky to have Harper looking out for him and Dana agrees he definitely got lucky. Harper asks for the coffees to go.
Rose and Mali arrive at the farm house to find the door open and the lock smashed. A male voice calls out for “little brother” not to stress. Mali instantly relaxs and they find Iluka sat on the couch. Rose asks if he often breaks locks instead of texting. Iluka notes he’s heard a lot about her and Mali says their mum and Elandra talks about her. Iluka jokingly notes Mali’s punching above his weight.
Harper and Dana walk on the beach with Dana calling it a little slip. Harper says the idea wasn’t to drop innuendos in gossip central. Dana notes Harper hasn’t liked anyone in ages and jovially contemplates Felicity finding out and burying her somewhere before agreeing not to mention hooking up with the demigod.
Mali and Iluka play about with a rugby ball as Rose recalls hearing Iluka could have turned pro. She decides to leave them to catch up. After she’s gone, Iluka says he’ll get the lock fixed…with Mali’s money. Mali wonders why Iluka’s there, since he’s had ages to come for a visit. Instead of answering, Iluka goes to get another beer.
Cash is sat at home watching what seems to be an early scene from Death Throes, with Stevie and Crystal’s characters newly arrived at the house. Felicity comes home and comments how good they are in this. Cash says they were. Felicity says Nelson wouldn’t disrespect Stevie. She pauses the film and suggests he get something to eat, also mentioning Bree’s suggestion of counselling. Cash restarts the film without saying anything and Felicity cuddles up to him.
Nelson meets Bree at the memorial and says he’s quit the film: The producers only care about money. He says there’s an indie film he wants to do shooting in Naples and asks Bree how her Italian is: He wants her to come with him. Shortly after, Rose is at the flat when Bree arrives back and explains about Iluka showing up, saying he seems like a nice guy. Bree tells her about Nelson asking her to go to Italy and that she said she needed to think about it. Rose asks what’s stopping her and she admits she kissed Remi.
Mali is finishing off a phone call with Elandra as Iluka comes back. He says he heard Iluka is in trouble and needs to lay low for a bit. Iluka confirms it but doesn’t say anything else. Mali says he could just call Elandra back and get the full story, wondering what Iluka’s done this time.
