Extended Summary

Xander and Bree are on their way for a surf after work. They come across Remi, and Xander gives him and Bree some space. Remi thanks Bree for looking after him when his hand got bad again, before letting her get on. Back at the Lyrik house, Eden beats John at poker with a pair of threes. Remi arrives back and John takes the opportunity to get off to his meeting. Eden expresses surprise that Remi is back from his parents’, then realises Kirby called him. She says she’s fine but Remi wonders why John was babysitting him.

Cash is preparing to go to work and Nikau asks if there was any booze left over from the party. Cash says he should ask Felicity but Salt’s only five minutes away if he wants a drink. John comes over and tells Cash that Eden’s upset, advising him to wait a while before going to see her. Over the road, Eden tells Remi she only wants space from Cash, before eventually admitting she had flashes of waking up in bed with Cash and isn’t sure if it really happened. Remi says it did because he walked in on them. He thinks it’s a good thing she’s remembering but Eden says she’s just getting intense moments that she doesn’t understand.

At the Diner, Bree is deliberating over what to order. Xander comes in and suggests they go for a drink at Salt instead. Bree says she said she’d order there but Irene doesn’t mind. As they leave, Alf and John come in arguing. Alf accuses John of going behind his back to the committee. John retorts that he sent him an e-mail. Alf says he didn’t have time to check them and doesn’t get them on his phone. John says the IT upgrade can help him with that. Alf snarls that he’s on thin ice and storms out.

Tane and Felicity arrive back from the hospital. Tane is pleased Felicity got the all-clear and has no lung damage from the smoke inhalation but Felicity is a bit more cynical. She dismisses her comments on how she was struggling as the result of too much to drink. Tane says she can talk to him, Cash or a counsellor if she needs to. Felicity sends him in the shower, then searches in the cupboard. Nikau appears with a bottle and asks if she was looking for it.

Xander and Bree approach the surf club. Bree admits that it’s the day of Jacob’s funeral. She couldn’t go and isn’t sure that she wanted to but she’s been getting messages from his family and old friends: Some of them are supportive but others call her a murderer. She gets another message and says that she’s stopped blaming herself for Jacob’s death but she caused hurt to a lot of people.

Felicity insists the bottles are no big deal, despite Nikau pointing out there are four of them. She says she put them there during the party and didn’t think about them until now, when she wanted a drink. She asks Nikau to keep quiet about it and he doesn’t say anything when Tane comes in. Felicity and Tane head out, with Tane needing to check the bay went through at the gym. Meanwhile, Eden and Remi arrive at the surf club. Eden isn’t sure about being there but Remi tells her she can’t spend her time hiding at home. Felicity and Tane arrive and Felicity is delighted to see Eden, suggesting they go upstairs while Tane checks at the gym.

Upstairs, Xander assures Bree she’ll make new friends in the Bay and suggests turning the phone off. Felicity, Eden and Remi come in, with Felicity and Eden comparing notes on the fact they’re both fine apart from the memory loss. Felicity supposedly goes to get a menu but actually goes to the store room and drinks from a bottle. Xander suggests Bree find her own way of saying goodbye to Jacob. Remi watches them suspiciously, wondering when they became a thing. Eden tries to convince him not to read too much into it.

John calls round to see Nikau to talk to him about the IT upgrade and picks up on his lack of enthusiasm. Nikau asks what you do when someone has a problem but is in denial about it. John suggests getting help from other people and guesses it’s about one of his housemates. Cash comes home as John is wishing Nikau luck. After John’s gone, Nikau tells Cash he needs to know something.

Next morning, John and Irene turn up at the caravan park with a basket of muffins. John isn’t sure about approaching him but Irene doesn’t want any more fights in the Diner. They approach Alf, and John offers him the muffins and makes a failed attempt to talk about fishing. Alf admits he found John’s e-mail and knows John didn’t go behind his back. However, when John suggests the IT people could give him lessons so it doesn’t happen again, Alf growls not in a million years and walks off. Irene takes the muffins back.

At the flat, Xander wishes Bree good morning and she suggests they go for another surf. Xander goes to get a coffee from downstairs but instead finds a large box addressed to Bree on the doorstep. She finds the DPP have returned everything from the campsite taken as evidence, including the note she wrote to Remi. Xander wonders if she meant what she wrote. Bree says she did when she wrote it and was determined he know what they had was real but now she’s not so sure. Meanwhile, Eden gets into bed with Remi, saying she can’t sleep in her bed because of all the flashes about Cash. She realises he didn’t get much sleep either. Remi is still convinced that Bree has moved on with Xander.

Nikau, Tane and Cash have a private conversation about Felicity’s drinking. Felicity comes home and quickly realises Nikau’s told them. Tane points out drinking in secret isn’t normal. Cash asks what’s in her bag. Felicity pulls it away from him and there’s the sound of bottles. She says she’ll leave if it’s a problem. Cash stops Tane going after her.

At the coffee cart, Irene chats to Remi about Eden being back home. Xander and Bree arrive. Xander tries to leave Bree and Remi alone but Remi accuses Bree of moving on and lying about just needing space. Bree asks him if he knows who he sounds like, which Remi sarcastically calls nice. Bree walks away.

Felicity goes to a van at the caravan park and lets herself in with a key. She ignores a call from Tane and lies down on the bed alone.
