Extended Summary
John runs into Cash down on the beach and asks how things are going with Eden. Nikau approaches and asks John if he’s going to give him any help with the flags. John jokingly replies that that’s what he has minions for and complains about the noise coming from next door even with just two people rehearsing. Back at the surf club, Tane asks Dean if he’s got any WiFi and Dean says it’s been down for a while. John and Nikau arrive back and Tane complains about the WiFi being down, saying he can’t process payments. Nikau has to calm things down between him and John, and Dean takes Tane upstairs.
Tane complains to Dean about John not getting things turned back on. He asks Dean how long it took him to get over his car crash. Dean says he thought Felicity wasn’t badly hurt and Tane says not physically. Dean recalls he didn’t make it easy for Ziggy to help him but she kept trying. Tane says Felicity isn’t making it easy. Dean thinks being a punchbag is about right.
Downstairs, John is on the phone to a helpline as he and Nikau try to fix the connection. Alf comes in with the agenda for the surf club meeting. John says he could have just e-mailed it and Alf says he wanted to make sure everybody got it. John finally gets instructions for Nikau to reset the router with a paperclip but Nikau warns him there’s only so many times you can do that.
Up in Salt, Mali admits to Rose he has no idea what to do about the job offer, since he only agreed to a couple of days a week. Rose says he’d have to move to Summer Bay. Mali says his oldest brother moved away for work and his mum still hasn’t forgiven him, but he doesn’t want to let Dean down. Downstairs, Tane complains to Dean that he isn’t telling him anything he doesn’t know. Dean says Ziggy never stopped trying with him. Tane wonders if he should talk to her. Dean says he’s welcome to but she won’t say anything different.
At the coffee cart, Marilyn gets a text and tells Roo about the baby’s name (Isabella Astoni-Thompson). Nearby, Cash is finishing off a phone call. Marilyn tries to share the news with him but Cash is preoccupied with the fact he’s just heard Eden’s been discharged from hospital. At the Lyrik house, Eden is on the phone to Kirby, who only left twenty minutes ago. Cash turns up and says that he remembers what she said but Marilyn asked him to bring a takeaway round.
John and Nikau are doing an inventory at the surf club. Nikau says that everything’s ancient and asks when they last had a tech upgrade. John says Y2K and Nikau doesn’t know what that is. He says it will reflect well on John if the tech’s improved. Not too far away, Mali and Rose see those waiting for his latest class. Mali quips that they’ve heard there’s a new surf legend in town. Rose says she still can’t tell whether he’s a player or a nice guy. Mali suggests a bit of both and thanks her for listening.
At the Diner, Marilyn continues to gush about Isabella’s name while Alf says he’s glad she’s got one and also that Ziggy’s all right after yesterday. John comes in and tells Alf he wants to put another item on the agenda for the meeting: Upgrading the surf club tech. Roo thinks that’s a good idea, since they’re still using a fax machine. Alf says the surf club used to work fine without all that and the money would be better spent on life-saving equipment. He refuses to discuss it further, walking out.
Cash tells Eden that he’d have picked her up from hospital; Kirby did it and is now rehearsing with Theo. Cash offers to put stuff away for her. Eden reminds him that she asked for space and he agreed. Cash leaves and walks down to the beach, looking unhappy. Eden goes to her room and looks at the photos on the wall, which include ones of her with Remi and Kirby. She touches the bed sheets and suddenly has a flashback of being in bed with Cash. She looks shocked and quickly leaves the room.
Tane approaches John at the surf club and apologises for losing his temper before; they discuss the problems with Felicity, who Tane has to pick up from a hospital appointment, John talks about Alf being against the tech upgrade. Tane says it isn’t up to Alf since John’s the manager.
Outside, Dean offers to help Mali hose down the boards but Mali tells him to get home to his family. Mali wonders if Dean would really close the board shop down if he didn’t have anyone to run it and says he’ll need to talk it over with his family before he gives him an answer. Rose comes up and suggests Mali can’t get enough of her. Mali says saying that only works if she’s there first. He wonders if she’s asking him out again but she dodges the question.
Tane heads home for a shower before meeting Felicity. Nikau asks him about losing it with John. Tane says it’s sorted. Nikau thinks Felicity should talk to a professional. Tane says she’s not ready and just wants her to know he’s there for her. Meanwhile, Cash runs into Eden near the surf club. She nervously says she was looking for Felicity. Cash says Felicity’s getting x-rays and offers to take Eden home, He touches her arm and she has a flashback of him touching her in a similar manner (also near the surf club) and pulling her in for a kiss. She pulls away from him in a panic. John steps in and offers to drive her home.
John takes Eden into the house and asks if there’s anyone he can call for her. Eden says Remi’s away and she doesn’t want to interrupt Kirby and Theo. John suggests he can get off to his meeting if she’s got everything but Eden asks him to stay a bit longer. Meanwhile, Cash arrives home and Nikau tries to talk to him but Cash quickly shut him down and goes to his room. Nikau goes to get a towel from the cupboard and finds a stash of bottles in there.
