Extended Summary

Mali pulls up near the beach in his combi and quickly runs into Rose. As they’re chatting, Dean appears (with the baby in a carrier) and asks if they’ve seen Ziggy. Mali says he’s only just got there and Rose says Ziggy wasn’t on the beach. Dean explains she went missing half an hour ago. They offer to help look. At the Diner, Irene, Marilyn and Roo chat about Leah going away. Dean arrives looking for Ziggy. Marilyn suggests they look after the baby while he searches. (She also tries to get the baby’s name only for Dean to admit she still doesn’t have one.) Dean isn’t keen about leaving her with strangers but Roo points out they’re not exactly strangers and Dean agrees.

Rose and Mali search the caravan park without success. Mali says new mums can be fragile, recalling his sister had a hard time with her first kid and the family helped out. Rose wonders if Dean has contacted Ziggy’s family. They see Alf, who says Mali’s caravan is ready for him. They tell him about Ziggy going missing and leaving the baby with Dean and he offers to help look. Meanwhile, Dean arrives home but finds no sign of Ziggy. After calling Mackenzie to check Ziggy isn’t at Salt, he leaves Ziggy another message.

Justin arrives home just as Leah is leaving to see Irene at the Diner. Justin says he has to work on promoting Theo and Kirby as Lyrik and also tells her to look out for Ziggy, before getting a message saying there’s a package at the garage to sign for. Leah flirtatiously tells him to hurry home since she has a special dinner planned. Not picking up on the hint, Justin says it sounds yum.

At the surf club, Mali and Rose confirm Ziggy isn’t in either the bathroom or the gym. Dean appears and they tell him they haven’t found her. Dean says Ziggy doesn’t have any family in the area and has been missing for two hours now. Rose says they need to check the hospital and also report her as missing, phoning her sergeant.

Justin arrives at the garage and heads inside. He suddenly notices Ziggy asleep in the back of one of the cars. He gives a wry smile and takes his phone out. At the Diner, Leah has joined Irene, Marilyn and Roo in cooing over the baby and they comment on her lack of name. Leah chats with Irene about going to see Luc.

Dean joins Justin at the garage and Justin explains he let Ziggy sleep. Dean goes and wakes her, explaining the baby’s with Roo and Maz at the Diner and telling her she’s been out for hours. Ziggy says it feels like she was only out for ten minutes. She apologises for worrying him, saying she just needed a break. They head back to the Diner to pick up the baby. Irene attributes Ziggy’s behaviour to being overtired and Marilyn and Roo assure her they’re fine with helping out. Irene tells Marilyn to get Dean a coffee and insists Ziggy come with her to pack up the coffee cart.

Back at the surf club, Rose and Mali discuss Ziggy being found. Mali describes himself as an involved uncle while Rose says it’s just her and Xander and neither of them are having kids soon. Mali drops hints about spending time together but Rose awkwardly says she has to get going. Near the coffee cart, Ziggy tells Irene she feels silly and wonders if it’s meant to be this hard. Irene says having your first child is the biggest change you have and no-one ever tells you that. Ziggy says Dean’s bonded with the baby but she can’t feed or settle her. Irene assures her she can do it, telling her to trust her instincts.

Justin chats to Leah about Ziggy and discusses driving her to the airport tomorrow. Leah drops a number of hints about “saying goodbye” first. Justin finally gets the message and asks if she can do that. Leah says the doctor said she can and leads him to the bedroom. Back at the farm house, Ziggy is now feeding the baby with a bottle. She tells Dean that she’s trusting her instincts and suggests a name for the baby: Isabella, which Dean immediately shortens to Izzy. Ziggy says it’s after a pro surfer but also Italian, so her dad will like it, and cute but classy. Dean gives her full name as Izzy Astoni-Thompson.

Next morning, at the coffee cart, Marilyn babbles to Irene about wanting to babysit for Dean and Ziggy. Leah and Justin stop by on their way to the airport. Leah says they’ve already said goodbye, which Irene calls too much information. Leah promises to take a photo of Luc unwrapping Irene’s present. At the farm house, Ziggy thanks Dean for taking the night-time feeds. Dean gets a text and says he has to go into work: Both of them wish he didn’t have to.

Rose meets Mali at the caravan park and admits last night was weird, suggesting they have the date they talked about last week and inviting him to breakfast. Mali checks she’s inviting him out on a date before agreeing. They head to the surf club where they meet up with Dean, who tells them the baby’s name. Rose goes upstairs to get a table and Dean asks Mali if he’ll look after the board shop full time. Mali says that wasn’t the deal and Dean explains he wants to spend time with his family. Mali asks what will happen if he says no. Dean says if he can’t find someone else, he’ll have to close it, because Ziggy and Izzy need him more.
