Extended Summary

Bella and Nikau run into each other on the beach: She has decided to come see him after TAFE instead of going to the library. They discuss the situation with Mia and Chloe and how hurt the latter was when they cut her off. Nikau decides to go and talk to her. Meanwhile, at the surf club, Tane is shocked at Mia’s abrupt decision to leave. Mia admits she hasn’t told Chloe yet but thinks it’s what she needs. Tane thinks Chloe needs her family and friends around her and running away isn’t the answer. Mia says she’s not asking his permission and needs a fresh start.

At the Diner, Roo tells Irene that she hasn’t heard from Alf and is thinking she should just go down there. Irene suggests she call Alf first. Nearby, on the beach, Jasmine apologises to Cash for the awkward brunch and says it helps that she and Xander have a lot to talk about, hoping she and Rose can do the same. At the caravan park, Rose is taking the cases out of the car and Xander tells her Ryder said they can keep the van. Rose isn’t happy that he made the decision to stay for both of them. Xander reminds her she was the one that wanted to get to know Jasmine. Rose doesn’t think they’ve got a lot in common and says two days isn’t enough.

Chloe is alone at home and notices the picture she took of herself, Mia and Ari on the fridge. Nikau arrives and Chloe says she’ll get out of his way. Nikau says she doesn’t have to and Chloe says she always says the wrong thing with him and Bella. Nikau tells her that he and Tane are worried about Mia and thinks they should try and help her together. At the gym, Tane asks to talk to Mia again. Mia says he can’t fix it and that she’s getting a solicitor to transfer her half of the gym to him, since he already has Ari’s half. Tane says she can’t make him accept it. Mia says he will if he wants her to be okay.

Cash, Jasmine, Xander and Rose have met at the Diner. Rose says Jasmine doesn’t have to entertain them. Jasmine says she can show them some secret swimming spots or take them on a walk or a drive. Irene drops by the table and cheerily asks how long Xander and Rose are staying. Rose rather bluntly says they have jobs and lives to get back to. Xander says he’s actually arranged for more time off and Jasmine considers doing the same. Rose says she’s changed her mind about staying and hurries out. Jasmine tracks her down nearby and tries to get her to stick around. Rose says she needs some space and to tell Xander she’s going home.

At the Diner, Roo tells Irene she still hasn’t heard from Alf and the hospital haven’t told her anything except that Martha’s been admitted. Irene suggests they drive down together. Nearby, Cash and Xander discuss how uncomfortable Rose seemed. Jasmine arrives back and tells them what Rose said. Xander goes to talk to her. Back at the Parata house, Chloe notes she didn’t notice how Mia was suffering. She tells Nikau she’s treated everyone badly but is going to fix it, starting with helping Mia. Nikau gets a text and suggests they get out of the house.

Nikau takes Chloe to the surf club. Bella is waiting outside. Chloe apologises to her and Bella gives her a hug. Tane and Mia approach, with Tane quietly commenting that Chloe doesn’t need to go anywhere for a fresh start. Chloe asks to talk to Mia while Tane congratulates Nikau. Chloe and Mia head up to Salt. Chloe says Bella and Nikau were right to cut her off because she needed to take a step back. Mia notes it seems like Chloe’s ready to move forward. Chloe asks how Mia’s doing. Mia says she’s closer to being okay than she was.

Xander asks Rose what happened to trying to be a family and notes she’s pulling away right when Jasmine’s opening up. Rose asks if he’s coming and he shakes his head. Rose says to call her if he needs to and drives off, only giving Xander a glance in the rear view mirror. Back at Salt, Chloe tells Mia she’s glad they did this and apologises for not being there. Mia says she has to talk to her about something but Nikau and Bella interrupt, inviting Chloe to join them for pool, so Mia says they’ll catch up at home.

Roo and Irene are about to leave the caravan park house when Roo gets a call from Alf, who says there’s no need for them to come home. She tells Irene that Martha was just dehydrated but decides to still go and see her. Meanwhile, Xander, Jasmine and Cash are at Salt. Xander gets a text from Rose saying she got home safe. He tells Jasmine it wasn’t her fault that Rose went. Cash wonders if she’ll come back. Jasmine apologises for causing a fight and Xander quips that they fight all the time. However, he looks morose when left alone.

Tane finds Mia in the gym office and asks how things went with Chloe. Mia says it wasn’t the right time to tell her about her plan but is still determined to go and wants to sort out the gym transfer. Tane says there’s no point if she hasn’t told Chloe. Chloe overhears the remark and Mia tells her she’s made a decision. Over in the surf club, Bella and Nikau are wondering where Chloe is when Chloe, Mia and Tane emerge from the gym. Chloe insists she’s not leaving and walks off. Mia tells Tane she was going to pick the right time, before going after her. Nikau asks Tane what’s going on.

Chloe and Mia arrive home. Chloe says Mia doesn’t listen to her and just makes decisions without her: About her father, about keeping Ari away from her and now about this. She refuses to talk any further and shuts herself away in her room.
