Extended Summary

Next morning, Mia runs into Tane near the beach and thanks him for taking the class. Nikau and Bella arrive and ask after Chloe. Mia says she read her the riot act and was gone before she got up this morning. Bella and Nikau suggest checking on her at work and confirm they know about Mia’s leaving plans. They walk with her while Felicity joins Tane, wondering if that was as fun as it looked. Meanwhile, Marilyn is bemused to arrive at the Diner and find Chloe setting up, since she wasn’t rostered on. Chloe says she needs to be there and will even clean the oven. Marilyn awkwardly lets her stay.

Dean and Ziggy are getting ready to leave for work and find the fridge emptied. Mackenzie and Logan come in, having just returned from the Hunter. They’ve brought them back some cheeses and wine and craft beer for Dean. Dean says he wishes his girlfriend would take him away for the weekend. At Salt, Tane tells Felicity that he can’t get Chloe and Mia to make up or Mia to stay. Felicity says it’s Mia’s call. Tane leaves as Mackenzie arrives and discusses the poker night with Felicity. Logan appears and they pretend they were talking about a hens night. Mackenzie offers Logan a takeaway coffee and he asks for takeaway breakfast as well, disappointed Mackenzie won’t spend time with him.

Ziggy meets up with Dean outside the surf club and says the surf was choppy out there. They discuss giving the holiday away before Logan appears, complaining about Mackenzie sending him away from work. He says she was acting odd before they went away but is convinced to dismiss it. Meanwhile, Bella and Nikau find Chloe near the Diner. She thinks they were only being nice to her because they think she was leaving. They insist they didn’t know until she did but Chloe walks away anyway.

Tane arrives at the gym and Mia tells him she has the transfer papers for him to sign. Tane asks if Chloe’s changed her mind. Mia thinks she’ll come round and the problem is the way she found out. Tane retorts that Mia’s only focusing on what she wants. Meanwhile, Felicity is telling Mackenzie that word has got around about the poker nights. There are some high rollers coming so they can increase the buy-in price. Mackenzie awkwardly thanks her for her help.

Meanwhile, Bella and Nikau consider staying at the Diner to keep an eye on Chloe but she refuses to talk and tells them to leave her alone. After they’ve left, Marilyn sits Chloe down for an enforced lunch break and tells her she needs to talk to Mia about leaving the Bay rather than using work to hide from her, which will just make Mia worry. She tells her the shift she wasn’t rostered on for is cancelled. At the surf club, Mia is telling Dean and Ziggy that she’s leaving. Tane is annoyed she didn’t listen to him. Mia gets a text from Chloe and goes to meet her. Dean asks Tane what Ari would think. Tane gets annoyed and Dean says it’s no wonder everyone’s bailing on him. Ziggy and Felicity step in as they square up, with Felicity leading Tane away.

Mia meets Chloe on the beach. Chloe says that she was avoiding the house and Mia because it was painful but it didn’t help and being at home does: She likes being surrounded by reminders of Ari. Mia says she feels the opposite and is finding it hard being surrounded by the reminders, which is why she needs to go. Chloe makes it clear that she needs to stay. Meanwhile, Felicity follows Tane down the beach. Tane says Dean was right: He’s no good at keeping the family together. He doesn’t think he can stop Chloe and Mia leaving.

Dean and Ziggy head up to Salt with him complaining about Tane. Mackenzie tells them they’re closed to get ready for a private function so she needs them to go. They arrive back at the farm house where Dean snipes about Ziggy defending her ex. Ziggy says Tane’s lost his brother, like Dean’s lost his friend. She gets some beers from the fridge. Dean still thinks something’s going on with Mackenzie.

Mackenzie and Logan run into each other near the beach with him impressed to see her dressed up. She explains it’s for the work function and he says he’ll wait up for her. Mackenzie gets a text from Felicity saying she can’t do tonight. Meanwhile, Bella and Nikau greet Chloe at the Parata house and she tells them she’s told Mia she’s staying. Mia arrives and asks to talk to Chloe in private. She says Chloe was right about her making decisions; she’s not going to leave her so she’ll have to find a way to stay.

Tane and Felicity arrive at the surf club with him checking she’s okay spending the evening with him. He gets a text saying Mia’s staying. Felicity tells him to meet her at her van when he finishes work. Mackenzie arrives and hopes Felicity being there means she’s changed her mind. Felicity says Mackenzie’s still got Ryder helping but Mackenzie says the poker players aren’t coming to look at him. Felicity wonders if there’s any woman staff she trusts. At the farm house, Ziggy tries to talk Dean out of eating the chocolates. Mackenzie arrives and says she needs Ziggy’s help.
