Extended Summary

Tane is following Mia through a park area. Mia is now being dismissive of her behaviour at the gym, simply saying she shouldn’t have closed it. Tane reminds her she said she was losing her mind but Mia insists she’s coping and tells him to drop it. Later, at the surf club, Tane has filled Nikau in. They aren’t sure what to do with Mia, who’s headed back to work. Nikau notes he isn’t talking to Chloe either. Tane thinks Mia might need professional help.

Xander comments to Rose that they’ve been here before. Jasmine and Cash emerge from the bedroom and Cash suggests a sit-down meal wasn’t the best idea and they should try something less formal. Soon after, the group are walking along the beach as Cash encourages a walk to the lighthouse. He suggests they might see a whale. Xander recalls going on a whale-watching trip and not seeing any. Rose asks about sharks and Cash insists it’s been proven there aren’t any in the bay. Xander asks Jasmine about the touch footy.

In the gym, Roo asks Mia about some missing straps and Mia sets them up for her. Roo tries to chat about her parents coming home but Mia obviously doesn’t want to talk. She retreats into the office where she bursts into tears. Down on the beach, Xander and Jasmine are deep in conversation. She asks what he does for a living and he says he’s a paramedic. She explains she’s a nurse and he notes it’s surprising given their dad drove a cab. Behind them, Cash and Rose comment on how the pair seem to be getting on better. Cash is glad Rose and Xander are making an effort, joking about how it took him a couple of hours to get Jasmine to respond to her text. Rose invites Jasmine for a drink but she says she’s tired. Xander tells her they’re staying at the caravan park.

Nikau and Tane are waiting in Salt for Mia. When she turns up, she worries there’s something wrong with Chloe. Tane says they’re worried about her and need to talk. Mia is still only interested in talking about closing the gym. Tane talks about getting her help, pointing out she’s sleepwalking again and there’s no shame in seeing a doctor. Mia insists she just needs her family to support her without judging her and storms out. They follow her downstairs and apologise for upsetting her. Mia though turns it around on them and says she can look after herself and won’t be having this conversation again.

That evening, Roo is at the Diner ordering a family-sized meat pie for tomorrow lunch and tells Irene about Alf and Martha coming back. Rose and Xander are eating nearby. Irene asks them about Jasmine and Rose says she was done for the day. Rose tells Xander he was right about them hurting Jasmine who needs to decide if she wants to be a family. Xander says she was making an effort but Rose is worried she doesn’t really want it. Meanwhile, Cash and Jasmine are having dinner on their own. Jasmine notes if she’d met Xander at work they’d probably have got on, although she finds Rose harder to get a read on. She wonders if it should be this hard to get to know family.

Tane goes to see Mia at the gym, saying it’s not an intervention if it’s just him. He apologises if it was too much before. Mia says he has to trust her to deal with things her own way. He offers to help her close up but she says she likes the quiet so he leaves her to it. Meanwhile, Cash is asleep while Jasmine is awake next to him. She looks in the bedside cabinet and takes out the photo of her and her dad.

Next morning, Jasmine runs into Mia on the beach and asks her if she wants company. Mia says it feels like Ari should be there. Jasmine recalls standing there wishing for Robbo to come back and says she had to get away from the Bay for a bit because the memory was too fresh. Mia says she came to the Bay for Ari and stayed for him. Jasmine understands things that used to be happy can make you sad. Mia says her family are what get her out of bed. Meanwhile, Roo is setting up an easel outside the caravan park house and looks at a sketch of the house. She gets a call from Kieran, who seems to be in a panic.

Jasmine finds Cash and Xander packing up the car. She says she was coming to see if they wanted to do something. Rose says it’s clear them being here isn’t fun for her. Jasmine asks them not to go: She was overwhelmed yesterday but they’re her family and she wants to get to know them. Xander says he’s in no hurry to get back. Rose agrees to stay with a bit less enthusiasm. At the surf club, Nikau and Tane note Mia was out early but didn’t sleepwalk. Mia appears and asks to have a word with Tane. She says he was right that she can’t carry on like this but she doesn’t need the sort of help he thought.

Down on the beach, Roo sees off a couple of kayak customers. Irene comes along and says she thought Roo’d be getting the house ready. Roo tells her that Martha had a turn while packing and is back in hospital: Kieran said it doesn’t sound good. Meanwhile, Mia takes Tane into the gym office. She says she came to town for Chloe but she stayed for Ari and now she needs to get away. Tane says he can cover for as long as she wants but Mia says that’s not what she meant: She’s leaving town for good and taking Chloe with her.
