Extended Summary

Mackenzie meets up with Logan on the beach, commenting on not having seen him recently. Logan admits he hasn’t even been doing anything exciting, just paperwork. He offers to buy her breakfast, saying he’s sleeping with the owner of Salt. Mackenzie says she hears she’s really hot. Logan adds confident. At the farm house, Dean finds Ziggy cooking breakfast, noting he smelt the bacon and the smoke. He asks if they can continue their conversation but Ziggy says she needs to get milk and hurries out. Dean quickly notices the bottle on the side.

Ryder and Chloe arrive back from doing deliveries outside the Diner, commenting on how it’s easier not doing everything. Theo appears, to Ryder’s disappointment. He says he accepted Justin’s job offer but doesn’t need to be there with the wedding. Theo takes the empty crates from Chloe, with Ryder pointedly noting the lack of help for him. Inside, Theo notes he’s helping Chloe without owing her a favour. Chloe sends him and Ryder to put the crates in the kitchen while she goes to talk to Roo and Martha about Ryder’s 21st. There’s a family meal planned for tomorrow and Chloe asks permission to throw Ryder a surprise party that evening. Ryder chats to Theo about the possibility of him leaving. He convinces Chloe to leave without Theo, despite her protesting Leah said to make him feel welcome.

Logan and Mackenzie are approaching the surf club when Mackenzie sees Tane and asks Logan to go on ahead while talking to him. Mackenzie tells Tane about being followed to her car. She can’t be sure if it was Felicity but Tane says it’s the sort of thing she’d do and Mackenzie agrees it’s too much of a coincidence. Tane storms inside and tells Felicity to own up to what she’s done. Felicity tells him to back off. Ryder and Chloe watch from a nearby table and Alf and Roo emerge from the office as things get increasingly heated. Alf steps in and sends Tane to the gym.

Alf follows Tane in and tells him to pull his head in and not bring his problems into the surf club. Tane assures him it wouldn’t have gone any further. Chloe has also come in and is bewildered that Tane slept with Felicity. Tane tells her to stay out of it. In the main surf club, Ryder offers Felicity a drink but Chloe tells him they’re going. Alf checks Felicity is okay before leaving her alone. Roo also approaches and wonders if Felicity knows what that was about. Felicity explains Tane thinks she’s stalking him and tearfully insists it’s not true.

Outside the surf club, Ziggy tries to talk to Logan about her problems with Dean. Logan is relieved when Mackenzie appears to take over the conversation. Ziggy says Dean wants an answer to a question that he won’t like. Meanwhile, Ryder and Chloe are walking near the Diner. Chloe is convinced Tane wasn’t at fault despite Ryder thinking he was intimidating. Theo comes up, irritating Ryder who wants him to leave them alone, but instead Chloe sends Ryder home to rest.

At Salt, Ziggy is telling Mackenzie and an awkward Logan that hearing something he doesn’t want to will spoil things between her and Dean. Mackenzie says she needs to be honest. Logan steps aside to take a call, saying they’ll have his answer by the end of the day. Ziggy heads home. Dean comments on her not having milk and says he knows they didn’t need any. Ziggy admits he’s right that he wouldn’t have moved in without the accident. Dean accepts it calmly and wonders if maybe he should move out now it’s easier, saying they’re missing out on getting to know each other again and all the fun stuff.

Chloe and Theo arrive at the Parata house. Chloe offers water. Theo asks for something stronger and Chloe says it’s not a good idea to steal anyone’s beer in that house. Theo asks about her bedroom and about Ryder. Chloe says he’s normally fun and explains about organising his 21st. Theo offers his help. Meanwhile, Tane finds Mackenzie waiting on the beach for him with a rose, which she says was on his towel. Tane drops it to the floor and Mackenzie guesses it was from Felicity. Tane thinks it might be best for Mackenzie to stay away from him but Mackenzie refuses to be scared off.

At the Diner, Roo asks Martha how her piece is getting on. Martha says it’s got better since she stopped worrying about it. Felicity comes in and Roo invites her to join them, introducing her and Martha to each other. Felicity says Cash and Jasmine are away at the moment. Roo says she can come to the house if she feels unsafe. Meanwhile, Dean and Ziggy are having lunch as their first date. Dean is enjoying a beer until Ziggy tells him it’s zero strength. She notes that if he moves in then they can do this every day. Dean agrees. Ziggy suggests watching their surf comp video and Dean jokes about not being able to surf at the moment.

Outside the surf club, Mackenzie takes a call from Dean about him moving out and is pleased for him. She tells Logan it will help with sleepovers. Logan suggests a drink and a chat, agreeing that it’s serious. Meanwhile, Chloe muses about bowling and karaoke but Theo is unimpressed. He suggests a huge party with her cute girl friends and dreams of various drinking games. Chloe says Ryder’s not a big drinker. Ryder comes in and wonders why Theo’s there. Chloe evasively says they’re just hanging out.

On the balcony at Salt, Logan tells Mackenzie the response unit is being relocated further down the coast. Mackenzie doesn’t think that’s a problem until he says it’s too far to travel in a day. She wonders how that’s going to work.
