Extended Summary

Ari continues to sit in the car: Night has now fallen. Another car pulls up behind him and he gets out: It’s Tane, who came looking for him. Ari reminds him he didn’t want to get involved but Tane says Ari helped him out when he didn’t want to. Ari is grateful. Another car pulls up. Back at the Parara house, Mia hears someone coming home. She hopes it’s Ari but it’s Chloe. Mia says Ari is meeting friends and explains her sitting in the dark by saying she got distracted on her phone. Chloe just wants to have a shower and get to bed.

Theo is helping Justin and Leah prepare dinner while Christian is suggesting to Tori places to move to, such as Camden and Clapham. Tori points out she hasn’t got the job yet. Leah offers to let Theo stay but he wants to check into the motel. Leah gives him some prepackaged food. He asks for some drinks and Justin sharply says no, before adding in a slightly gentler tone that he needs Theo at work with a clear head at 7am. At the Diner flat, Nikau is directing Bella to help prepare a meal, saying that it’s a way of moving forward. Bella notes that they need to think about what they’re going to do for jobs, adding that Nikau shouldn’t go for teaching people to cook.

Ari and Tane arrive home to be greeted by Mia, who thanks Tane for his help. Ari shows her the cheque and says that everything’s fine. Mia is delighted as Ari says they can look forward now. He goes to the bathroom and looks intense. Later, Tane finds him outside and comments on it bringing back memories. Ari notes that when he got out of jail he swore that this wasn’t going to be his life anymore, yet he’s back here.

Next morning, Leah, Tori and Christian are walking on the beach with Grace. Christian asks to borrow Tori’s phone to take a photo of Grace and Tori, suspecting he was looking for an excuse to check her messages, says she hasn’t heard from London. Leah is worried about Justin and Theo but Tori thinks Justin wouldn’t have let Theo in the garage if he didn’t trust him. Leah walks off and Christian congratulates Tori on her performance. Meanwhile, Theo drives up at the garage. Justin says he’s late. Theo says he couldn’t decide what to wear and Justin hands him a set of overalls. He starts to give Theo details of the job but Theo, focusing on his phone, says Dimitri’s place was ten times the size so he knows how it works.

Mia and Ari run into Tane outside the surf club and tell him they’ve given the cheque to Jasmine. Tane says he’ll ask for a pay rise next week. Mia goes to call Chloe. Tane checks Ari’s okay with things and Ari says it’s done now. Chloe enters the surf club with Nikau, finishing off the call with Mia. They see Ryder at the board shop and invite him to join them for a swim. Ryder explains he’s giving the board shop up but wants to find a replacement first. Nikau says that means more work. Chloe tells Ryder to call Dean and tell him he can’t do it.

Theo is sat inside one of the cars, taking selfies. Justin catches him and tells him to get out. Theo says he’s entitled to a ten minute break. Justin says Theo needs a job and he gave him one to stop Leah being stressed, suggesting they both care about her. At the Diner, Leah tells Tori and Christian she’s taking the pair lunch. Christian jokes she should take Tori with her in case she needs emergency medicine. Tori gets a text saying the wedding venue up the coast has a cancellation in a couple of months. Christian isn’t sure she should accept in case she gets the London job but Tori says she doesn’t want to lose the booking and Christian admits he thought they’d have heard about the job by now.

Leah arrives at the garage and is pleased to see Justin and Theo working well together. Justin tells Theo he can take the other five minutes of his break now. Theo then clutches his head and says he has a migraine going on and the only solution is to lie down in a dark room. Leah tells him he can go home and Theo says he’ll see them tomorrow. Justin quietly asks her if she bought it. Leah thinks they have to give him the benefit of the doubt. At the gym, Chloe is congratulating Ari and Mia. Mia suggests Tane might get a promotion. Ari is distracted but, when Mia challenges him and reminds him of the adoption, agrees to stick to the plan.

Nearby, Alf and Chloe watch as Ryder makes the call to Dean saying he can’t keep working there. Nikau comes in during the talk and says he’s got an idea. Later, Bella comes in and is bemused to find Nikau at the board shop. He says he’s running it now, since Dean got injured helping him, even though he knows nothing about surfing. Bella agrees to help out, even though she knows nothing about it either.

Tori checks her laptop and calls out to Christian, who was putting Grace down. She shows him an e-mail offering her the job and asking her to call. Christian tells her to breathe, scream outside and then call back and say yes. Later, Tori finishes the call and tells Christian that the hospital have a relocation specialist for them and a spot in the creche for Grace. However, she’s not sure she can accept it: They need her to start in two weeks.
