Extended Summary

Dean and Mackenzie are sat outside the surf club. He asks for a beer but she refuses until he’s more steady on his feet. Dean jokingly remarks that he regrets wishing he had a brother or sister. Bella comes over and they tell her that Dean’s doing better at rehab. Bella asks if Mackenzie’s coming home and Mackenzie says Ziggy isn’t back yet. She and Dean quickly avoid futher questions and leave. Inside, Roo approaches John and asks for his guest list for the fundraiser, saying there’s a waiting list, so if he can’t fill it he can give it back and just have a single seat. He says he’ll get her the list and she says today. Bella approaches Nikau, who is confused by the paperwork. She mentions seeing Mackenzie and Dean. Nikau notes he could have asked Dean if he’d known so Bella drags him off.

Tori and Christian are out on the pier. Tori thinks the dream of having the job is over: Not only does she think two weeks is not long enough for the move but it would mean cancelling their wedding again. Christian tells her to think about what she wants and to call and accept the job. Meanwhile, Nikau and Bella are chatting to Dean at the farm house. Nikau insists he can learn what he needs and also says it’s his fault Dean’s in the situation. Dean says it’s not his fault. Mackenzie advises Dean to take up the offer.

Justin turns up at the Diner and complains to Roo and Leah about having to do everything on his own. Roo asks about Theo. Leah insists he’s been in bed since he left the garage, but admits she didn’t see him, just spoke on the phone. John comes in and tries to walk out on seeing Roo, only to bump into Irene, who has just arrived back and soon draws everyone’s attention. At the Morgan house, Tori finishes the phone call accepting the job. Christian tells her they have a new life.

Dean tells Nikau about the forms he has to get the clients to fill in. Mackenzie suggests they go outside and she’ll bring drinks. Bella notices a photo of Jai and asks Dean if he’s seen him. Dean says he hasn’t and quickly leaves. Bella challenges Mackenzie about the fact that Dean isn’t seeing Ziggy or Jai. Later, Mackenzie says Dean needs rest. Dean says they need to figure out Nikau’s pay. Nikau says he’s doing it to help him and Ryder but Dean says he’ll fix them both up. Bella suggests they stay and she and Mackenzie talk but Mackenzie says she has rosters to do and Dean needs his medication. Bella reluctantly leaves with Nikau. Dean tells Mackenzie he doesn’t want Bella to know why Ziggy left.

Tori and Christian ponder getting married on the tallest building in London but Tori wants their families there, meaning they have to get married in the Bay next week. Leah and Justin arrive home and they explain. The pair congratulate them but Justin is thrown by the news of the wedding and start date, saying he has to head back to the garage. Later, Leah finds Justin at the garage and reminds him he was supposed to have finished for the day. She thinks Tori’s news was a shock to him. Justin says she made it seem like she didn’t have a chance. He is worried about saying the wrong thing. Leah tells him not to regret wasting the time they have left.

Roo explains to Irene about the fundraiser. John checks she’s interested in going and Roo says all the cool kids are at the Stewart table. John desperately interrupts to tell Roo that Martha was looking for her, then suggests he and Irene go to Salt. At the surf club, Bella tries to get Nikau to agree with her that Ziggy spending this much time with Coco right after Dean’s moved in is strange. Irene and John come in. Irene is pleased to see Bella and see her back with Nikau. John is confused to see them running the board shop. He gives Nikau a large manual of surf club regulations and reluctantly goes to get him a set of keys.

Justin meets up with Tori on the beach, saying he thought they needed some one on one time. She notes they’ve been each other’s rock and says she wants him to give her away. Justin bluntly refuses and hurries away. Tori heads home and tells Leah and Christian what Justin said. Leah admits he’s finding her going away harder than he’ll admit.

Nikau gets some drinks as Bella talks to Ziggy on the phone and asks about her being away. She explains to him that Dean told Ziggy to go and confronts a passing Mackenzie who says it wasn’t her story to tell. They head up to Salt where Mackenzie explains Dean didn’t want Ziggy watching him. Bella accuses Mackenzie of liking that Dean is reliant on her. Mackenzie says she likes being there for Dean. Bella thinks Dean won’t want Ziggy to come home while Mackenzie’s looking after him.

Mackenzie heads home. Dean says the physio called wanting to change his rehab session and asks Mackenzie what’s good for her, saying he needs a lift. Mackenzie asks if he couldn’t have picked a date himself. Dean, confused, says he can’t do it without her. At Salt, John and Irene are eating on the balcony. John says she’s his best friend and admits he has had trouble filling his table. Irene says she’ll be happy to join him and asks just how many people he’s got. John says that, including them, he has two.

Mackenzie gets up in the middle of the night and phones Ziggy, saying it’s all right for her to come home and claiming Dean told her to call.
