Daryl was a dodgy old acquaintance of Amanda’s. When she was in desperate need of funds to pay back Josh West, she arranged to meet him at a motel and sleep with him in exchange for funds. Kit, eager to prove that Amanda was cheating on Scott, followed her there and took photographs of her kissing Daryl goodbye the next morning but her camera phone was damaged in a scuffle with Amanda before she could show them to everyone.

A few days later, after Amanda had stolen the DNA samples from Hayley’s paternity test from the hospital, she met Daryl at the surf club and gave him the samples, asking for him to have them analysed privately. He then told her that a mutual acquaintance, Cameron, was willing to give her $20,000 for a nude photoshoot and passed on his card. Amanda quickly ushered him out of the building when she realised Scott had seen them together.
