8 Coronation Street Spoilers for Next Week – 6th to 10th July

Next week on Coronation Street, Abi takes on Idris after Alfie’s rushed to hospital, Tyrone’s shocked to meet his long-lost father, and George discovers Christina’s secret.

1) Alfie’s rushed to A&E

Abi’s (Sally Carman-Duttine) left terrified for Alfie (Carter & Oakley Razak Townsend) next week, as the dangerous conditions in their flat cause her young son to be rushed to hospital.

ITV

The warning signs have been building for a while, with Abi repeatedly trying to get hold of her new landlord over the damp and a strange smell in the flat. Last week, she finally discovered that the mystery landlord was Idris (Junaid Khan), when his phone rang in Speed Daal as she tried calling him yet again.

ITV

By then, the problem at home was already affecting Alfie. Later, Abi settled him into bed as he coughed, mentioning that she’d take him to the doctors the next day.

Once she’d got up to leave the room, viewers saw the hidden danger for themselves as the camera tilted down beneath Alfie’s bed to reveal black mould.

ITV

Next week, Abi’s concern turns to panic when Alfie’s breathing suddenly worsens. She phones Kevin (Michael Le Vell), who rushes over to drive them both to Weatherfield General.

Idris sees Abi and Kevin carrying Alfie out of the flat and is clearly unsettled, knowing he can no longer ignore the state of the property.

ITV

Carl (Jonathan Howard) also races to the hospital after hearing what’s happened, while the consultant explains that Alfie needs tests and will have to stay in ICU overnight.

ITV

As Abi waits anxiously for news, Idris heads back to the flat with Brody (Ryan Mulvey). Once inside, they discover the mould for themselves and realise just how serious the situation has become.

Shaken by what they’ve found, Idris heads to the hospital too, knowing he’ll have to face Abi after weeks of dodging her calls. But with Alfie so poorly, any show of concern from Idris may come too late to make much difference.

ITV

The doctors later confirm that Alfie’s breathing problems have been caused directly by the mould in his bedroom, and Abi’s told she needs to find somewhere else to live.

Leanne (Jane Danson) and Alya (Sair Khan) later point out to Idris that whoever sold him the flat must have known about the damp and should be held accountable. But Idris’s response suggests he may be more interested in his own kind of justice than doing things properly.

ITV

Abi soon spots Idris and Brody acting suspiciously at the precinct, as Brody forces a man into the back of Idris’s car. Fearing that Brody is being drawn into something dangerous, she warns Sally (Sally Dynevor) that Idris is bad news.

When Brody later hands over money towards the housekeeping, Sally’s concerns grow. She confides in Tim (Joe Duttine) that she doesn’t trust Idris—and fears he’s leading Brody back down a dark path.

2) Abi takes on Idris

Once Alfie’s well enough to leave hospital, Abi prepares to move them back in with Kevin at No.13 rather than return to the flat.

ITV

Before making the move, Abi heads back to collect some of their belongings and finds Idris and Brody unloading paint and tools, ready to tackle the damp problem themselves.

But Abi’s in no mood to be impressed by a last-minute clean-up effort. After everything Alfie has been through, she makes it clear that Idris won’t be able to brush this off with a quick repair job.

Furious with him for failing to act sooner, Abi warns Idris that she’s taking him to court.

ITV

Idris’s problems could soon become even more complicated when Brody introduces him to Kit (Jacob Roberts) in the Rovers. Idris is taken aback to realise that Brody’s dad is a police officer, leaving him aware that his new recruit comes with a very risky family connection.

Later in the week, Sally encourages Abi to follow through on her legal threat and suggests they approach Adam (Sam Robertson) for help.

ITV

The pair meet Adam for a drink at the Rovers and persuade him to take on Abi’s case against Idris, determined to make him pay for what happened at the flat.

3) Cassie’s romantic gamble backfires

Cassie (Claire Sweeney) makes a bold move with Steve (Simon Gregson) next week, as she decides it’s time to prove how serious she is about their future.

This isn’t the first time Cassie has considered proposing, as she was preparing to pop the question earlier this year when Steve received the news that dad Jim (Charlie Lawson) had died.

ITV

That moment was derailed, but the idea clearly hasn’t gone away.

Steve, of course, doesn’t have the simplest history when it comes to marriage, having been wed seven times to five different women. Even so, Cassie seems determined not to let his past—or Tracy (Kate Ford)—stand in her way.

ITV

As the week begins, Tyrone (Alan Halsall) and Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) are trying to enjoy a romantic drink together in the Rovers. Their evening is quickly interrupted when Steve, Cassie and Tracy join them uninvited.

Cassie’s already wound up by Tracy’s continued presence in Steve’s life and complains that she’s fed up with her trying to drive a wedge between them. Tyrone gives Cassie some blunt advice, pointing out that if she really loves Steve, she’ll have to accept Tracy will always be part of the package.

ITV

Rather than backing down, Cassie decides to make her feelings known. Later, in the cab office, she drops to one knee and proposes to Steve.

ITV

It doesn’t appear to go well, with Steve’s response leaving Cassie let down. By the middle of the week, she’s unsettled to see him helping Tracy with a flower delivery, with the pair looking far too comfortable together for her liking.

Hurt and increasingly self-destructive, Cassie heads to the Chariot Square and starts knocking back vodka. As she chats to a man at the bar—Ross (Ian Burfield)—Steve searches for her elsewhere, unaware that the situation’s about to get a whole lot messier.

ITV

Feeling rejected and humiliated, Cassie makes a pass at the stranger—but is she about to make a mistake she can’t take back?

ITV

Meanwhile, back at No.9, Hope (Isabella Flanagan) and Ruby (Billie Naylor) are still quietly working on the mysterious surprise they teased for Tyrone at the end of last week. Fiz tries to find out what they’re plotting, but Hope insists it’s nothing bad—just something nice.

Everyone’s clueless that the girls’ plan is about to bring another huge shock for the family.

4) Tyrone meets his long-lost dad

The next day, returning home full of self-loathing about what happened the night before, Cassie makes out that she just needed some time to herself.

She accepts Hope’s invitation to join the family for a meal at the bistro, whilst Steve tells her that he wants to forget the last few days and get their relationship back to where it was.

ITV

Cassie hides her guilt, unaware that the family meal is about to bring another bombshell.

Hope and Ruby reveal that they secretly sent off a sample of Tyrone’s DNA and traced his biological dad. To Tyrone’s astonishment, they’ve also invited him along.

Obviously, Tyrone knows he has some form of surprise coming from the girls, but he doesn’t know what it will be,” Alan Halsall explains. “This is the last thing he would be expecting. It’s completely out of the blue; I don’t think anyone would be ready for a scenario like that.

ITV

As Ross walks into the bistro, Tyrone struggles to process what the girls have done. Cassie is equally stunned, given he’s also the man she chatted up at the Chariot Square the previous night!

Cassie’s left mortified by the realisation, especially as she seemingly had no idea that the stranger at the bar was the same man who fathered her son.

When he’s asked Cassie questions, she hasn’t always given him straight answers,” Alan reminds us. “Over the years, she’s told him that she didn’t really know him or that they weren’t together. Whenever he’s pushed for answers, he’s been shut down, so he’s had very little information to go on.

ITV

Tyrone’s immediate reaction is to want space from Ross rather than a big reunion. After all the confusion, he’s more focused on heading home with Fiz and the girls to talk through why they went behind his back.

His first thought is, ‘I don’t really want to get to know this guy,” Alan continues. “‘I’m old enough; I’ve done all right without a dad, and I certainly don’t need this in my life right now.’

ITV

Meanwhile, Cassie’s concerned for a whole other reason.

I think Cassie has been living in fear that she might get found out for the lies she’s told along the way,” Alan adds. “She’s managed to forge a relationship and have a family with Tyrone, and all of a sudden, it could all come crashing down.”

ITV

This guy might tell Tyrone some secrets about her; I think her reaction is just one of fear.

Later, Cassie warns Ross that Tyrone is stubborn and unlikely to change his mind about meeting him properly. Ross advises her to try harder, but he soon catches someone else’s eye when Tracy strikes up a conversation with him.

Tyrone and Cassie are then taken aback when they call at Speed Daal for a takeaway and find Steve, Tracy and Ross sharing a table.

ITV

With little choice but to join them, Cassie grows increasingly uneasy as Tyrone starts to soften towards his biological dad.

ITV

ITV

Fiz encourages Tyrone to hear Ross out, helping him see the girls’ plan in a different light.

Tyrone agrees to meet Ross for a proper chat, although he’s still cautious about what that might mean.

Tyrone’s initial perspective is, ‘I’ll just speak to him, get it out of the way, and find out who a part of me is,’ but he doesn’t necessarily want a lasting relationship,” Alan added.

But whilst Tyrone may be ready to hear Ross out, Cassie knows their family could still be sitting on a timebomb.

5) Will faces life after Megan

Over at the Rovers, Will’s (Lucas Hodgson-Wale) attempting to move forward following Megan’s (Beth Nixon) imprisonment.

ITV

After Will initially panicked and claimed his allegations were untrue, the trial took a last-minute twist when—following some advice from Tim (Joe Duttine)—he found the courage to tell the court that Megan had groomed and abused him.

ITV

Megan was later found guilty and sentenced to five years, but not before lashing out at Will in court and insisting that she was innocent.

Next week, in the café, Hope (Isabella Flanagan) assures Will that although he’s become the focus of gossip at school, people are saying kind things about him.

There’s also an unexpected moment of understanding with Daniel (Rob Mallard), who was dragged into Megan’s lies for months when she used him as cover for her relationship with Will.

ITV

Aware that they were both manipulated by Megan in different ways, Daniel and Will agree to draw a line under the bad feeling between them.

But Will’s still struggling with the wider fallout, especially when it comes to Sam (Jude Riordan). Sam’s mental health crisis was fuelled by everything that happened with Megan and Will, leaving Will with another layer of guilt to carry.

ITV

When Hope calls at the Rovers, she tells Will she’s going to visit Sam after school and suggests he could come with her.

Will has already faced Megan in court, but visiting Sam may be a very different kind of challenge. Can he find the courage to go?

ITV

Later in the week, Will makes another big decision as he announces that he’s giving up athletics. After everything that happened with Megan, the sport has become too painful a reminder of what he went through.

6) George discovers Christina’s secret

At No.11, Christina’s (Amy Robbins) hiding a worrying secret from George (Tony Maudsley), just as he tries to make amends for his part in Summer’s (Harriet Bibby) ordeal.

ITV

George apologises to Summer for ever believing she could have killed Theo. Still feeling guilty over the way his suspicions helped put her in the frame, and ultimately in prison for three weeks, George promises that he’ll do whatever he can to make things up to her.

ITV

But while George is focused on clearing the air, Christina has problems of her own. When she heads off to make tea, her phone starts vibrating—and her face drops when she sees who’s calling.

Christina quickly kills the call, but the moment leaves her shaken.

ITV

Later, George suggests a romantic dinner at the bistro, hoping they can spend some time together. Christina turns him down, claiming she’s taken on another cleaning job, leaving George disappointed.

George’s sister Glenda (Jodie Prenger) senses that something isn’t right. When Christina goes to the loos at the café, Glenda takes the opportunity to rifle through her handbag—and is shocked by what she finds.

By the end of the week, George decides he needs answers and follows Christina to the precinct, where he’s horrified to see her meeting a man and embracing him.

ITV

Unable to let the moment pass, George storms over and demands to know what’s going on.

Christina has no choice but to explain, leaving George stunned as he learns the full extent of the trouble she’s been keeping from him.

As Christina admits how bad things have become, George urges her to stop hiding and come clean to her friends.

But will Christina be able to face the people she’s been lying to?

7) Maria comes under fresh scrutiny

Maria (Samia Longchambon) comes under renewed pressure next week, as the story she gave to protect Gary (Mikey North) starts causing fresh problems.

Maria previously backed Gary up by claiming they were together in the builders’ yard on the night Theo (James Cartwright) died, believing the deleted CCTV would only have exposed him smashing up Theo’s van.

ITV

But the lie has since dragged her into something far more serious, as Gary’s secretly covering for Sarah (Tina O’Brien), who was revealed to viewers as Theo’s true killer.

Next week, Lisa (Vicky Myers) calls at No.11 and tells Todd (Gareth Pierce) that the police have reached a stalemate in the murder investigation.

ITV

Todd shows little interest, as he’s already learned the truth in secret following Sarah’s confession—but his subdued response leaves Lisa suspicious, especially after he’d previously been so vocal about the lack of progress in the case.

Kit, meanwhile, is frustrated after being taken off the case. He remains convinced that Gary knows more than he’s letting on, without realising the person Gary’s protecting is Kit’s own girlfriend.

ITV

Later, Lisa and DC McLaughlin (Michelle Tate) visit Maria at the salon to go through her statement again. Despite her doubts, Maria sticks to the same story and insists she was with Gary that night.

Once she gets home, Maria demands that Gary finally tells her everything about what happened.

ITV

With Gary still unable to be honest, Maria later opens up to Kit in the Rovers, admitting that things between her and Gary are in a bad place and that she’s sick of his secrets and lies.

Could Maria’s frustration give Kit the opening he needs?

8) Betsy and Dylan make every moment count

Also next week, Betsy (Sydney Martin) and Dylan (Liam McCheyne) try to make the most of their remaining time together, as Betsy’s move to London looms.

Betsy recently revealed that she’d been offered a place at the London College of Fashion, leaving her excited about the opportunity but worried about what it would mean for her relationship with Dylan.

ITV

After sharing the news with Dylan, Betsy’s determined not to waste any time before she leaves. She calls at Speed Daal whilst Dylan’s working and tells him she’s going to sit and watch him during his shift, explaining that they need to grab every last minute they can together before her move.

But with September drawing closer, can the young couple make long-distance work, or will fate intervene in the meantime?
