Don is the retired owner of SBH with Ailsa. No that would be too much like Alf and Irene getting married.Donald could never marry his best friends wife and Irene could never marry her best friends Husband. Well the thing was, Charlie was leaving town that day anyway!.But if she had not been leaving town we would not have had Ruby going off rails and no Ricky and Kat as they both took Charlie's place in different ways!. He returns, sees so many new faces in the bay and begins to wonder "has everyone I have ever known died?", he walks into the diner and says "Jesus! This place has changed, where's Ailsa?" (he doesn't recognize Irene, but she recognizes him and they begin to chat), she tells him of Alf's whereabouts and he hunts Alf down with Irene and tells them about the past 20 years. Um I somehow don't think a river flows from Summer Bay to Queensland. Anyway, here's a few what-ifs of my own: What if Angel was wandering a few seconds either side or if Alf was earlier or later? Spoiler What if Shane didn't cut his hand on Travis's wire? What if Shannon didn't go out with Eric? Spoiler What if Curtis stopped Laura from running onto the train tracks?
