Well, according to Buffy you can drown and die and then be resuscitated and therefore not actually be dead. "Drowns" on it's own does imply death in a more permanent sense though, which is not going to happen.

i think to drown you have to be permanently dead as you said.

yes you can drown and not die. I had a bad experience, and the way I would describe it is I drowned. What else could you call it?

according to wiki near drowning. i hate water especially rivers after falling in rapids on a school water sports trip....
