Yes, Fin underwater is one of those images that has stuck in my mind too. Where was Stewart's Point originally? Was it the where the lighthouse is? I remember thinking it was there until the noughties. I think I missed that the current location was meant to be Stewart's Point in 1996, probably distracted by the events at the time. I suppose the other thing is Pippa knows the pain of having to give up a child (Lynn and probably various others I can't remember who were crisis care or short stays or those offscreen), so she can't understand how Sophie could willingly do it.

Haha, not quite but that would make interesting viewing! It's just a performance that some characters take part in at the surf club. Bit more info on it in the article on the main site which might jog your memory. Though saying that a real life Home and Away Musical with some of the cast did make it's way to UK stages in 1989! It's amazing the episodes that stick with people, normally it's births, deaths, marriages and departures but the musical always sticks in my mind. I think it's because I really hated the way Shane was behaving. He had a good reason, Tug had to pay for setting him up and having him put inside. What did you want Shane to do, shake his hand?

I used to love them, they tended to be on Bank Holidays/Easter/Christmas. You'd also get the occasional intro where they'd clearly just used whatever set was up and available, I seem to remember Fisher presenting from Summer Bay House.

Irene being tested to donate part of her liver to Leah? I suppose it may have recovered from the years of abuse.

Condoms are 98% effective now, but that could've been less in the early 90s.

I love the old diner, I was watching an old ep the other day and noticed a sign... Ailsa's Diet Plate 1/2 the calories. 1/2 the food. Full price.

Trying to make the best of a bad situation... I think Heath week could be good, just to see how he's developed as a character.

Thanks Dan. That's interesting that it's a torn paper effect. I always thought the shapes were still from the letters like the original style but rather than a cut out they were in between the edges of the letters, so Pippa & Michael were in the top of the H, Sally & Fin somewhere between the m & e and Alf & Ailsa were in the o. It is a tricky one to interpret and different people will see them differently, but now you've said it I can definitely see what you mean - basically an inversion of the previous style, which I was so used to staring at with all the other titles I've edited recently that I didn't spot it and saw them as more random cutouts . The edges of the letters have definitely had a 'torn' effect added to them though, as the original font is smooth other than the brush strokes at the end. Yeah, it's hard to see exactly where they all are. There are some rougher edges to the letters you can see in the previous sequence, mainly in the flicks of the letters. Ironically though the logo seems to become smoother and removes all of those embellishments in the 1993 sequence.

Does anyone know if this is true? Apparently the lunchtime showing has been dropped. http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1957734

It's a shame as it was one of the better sets.

His lack of a girlfriend on arrival?

Irene works part time at both the Diner and the store for a long time. Around late 95 she stops working at the store though there is no mention of this onscreen.Presumably to do with Ailsa's storyline and so Irene was needed more at the Diner.

It was the day we went on Summer Break in the UK, but even then it's bizarre why so many. It must have been to do with Bianca's attack at the B&S ball.

Ahh, the times when room moves got mentioned rather than people moving around everytime a bedroom is seen.

I love the new title card with the boat hitting the wave as in the 1996 credits.

Just curious - why have you got her as your avatar? I think probably because she was the first main teenage character to have a baby in the show plus the David storyline. If she hadn't had the baby I wonder if she would have been seen as memorable years down the track. Before the early years, whenever I used to think of Sophie I immediately had images of her as a pregnant school girl so it stood out to me and at the time her giving birth was seen as a major storyline in the show. You've got to remember that H&A was only a few years old at that point and it was the first time anything like that had happened in the show, so it became a memorable moment. I think it still is considered one of the early years memorable moments (Sophie giving birth to Tamara). Other teenage pregnancy storylines haven't had anywhere near the same impact as Sophie's did. Teenage pregnancy isn't seen as controversial as it used to be - so watching it back it doesn't seem that 'huge' but in 1991/1992 it was. I like the character, I think it's interesting to watch how she's coping, being a young mother and trying to better herself. I do prefer the other stories that are going on at the moment though. Exactly, it was shocking at the time, particularly here in the UK on a soap airing at lunch and teatime. In addition there was Pippa & Michael the almost perfect parents we all wanted who were providing this safe haven to those kids sort of failing Sophie by her becoming a teen mum. I also vividly remember a pregnant Sophie telling Pippa "You are such a bitch!"

We know from when Sally and Flynn moved - the Jesse & Flynn jogging scene - that the Caravan Park is to the right of the Surf Club as you look at it from the beach (towards the lighthouse) whilst the Braxton/Palmer houses are to the left, as is Leah's. Given that the kids who lived at the Caravan Park and Beach house used to stop by each others houses before school they must be on the same side of town. The school should be somewhere in the middle given that everyone seems to have reason to stop by the Surf Club/Diner on the way to school, but we know from the aerial shots now that just isn't possible.

There was a brief time around early 2005(?) when there were some problems with the hosting company and being able to get the BTTB domain renewed, (can't remember the finer details though I'm sure Chris would) which led to a vote on a new name for the site - thesurfclub.net was the winner. Whilst the domain was purchased, I think it was all sorted out in the end before a switch had to be made - though I know the forum was temporarily hosted there at one point. The forum was also on the domain 'catchsomesun.org' for a while in 2005 too. Ahh, thanks Dan.

It's crazy to think it's been 10 years since the site was set up. I was a regular visitor of it's previous incarnations and remember AussieSoap being set up (quite a unique site to cover multiple soaps) and clearly the change to Back To The Bay and the short lived Neighbours.me.uk - I also seem to remember voting for the name of the site (is that right?) and choosing BTTB. I can't remember the other options, but I think there was one around the Surf Club or something like that. I remember the excitement over the stalker storyline and episode 4000 particularly fondly, probably the high points in BTTB's timeline as far as the show is concerned, along with all the content for Sally's departure (a low high point) and the 20th anniversary. Thanks to everyone for their hard work over the years.

Was that when she was returning to the show? I remember her appearing on Live and Kicking or some such show talking about her return, which was obviously before she'd started filming as it seemed to be about a year and a half before she appeared on screen. I remember wondering if I'd dreamt it until she appeared in the titles one day.
