Extended Summary

Kirby and Theo run into each other outside the surf club. Theo says he was a jerk before and knows she was only trying to help him out, apologising. He also says she smashed it on the radio. Kirby wonders what the meeting’s about but Theo doesn’t know. They head up to meet Justin, Remi and Eden. Eden quickly asks her about her meeting with Forrest. Kirby tries to claim she only ran into him by chance at Salt, but this is news to the others, since Justin only heard about her meeting him in the city. Theo is confused and Remi explains about Forrest only managing solo artists. Justin clarifies that Kirby’s met him twice.

Back at the Parata house, Tane notes he’ll need new equipment for the self-defence classes and to check his insurances covers it. Felicity suggests code words at Salt so people can ask for help. Cash says he’s going to talk to sports clubs and schools to make sure boys know right and wrong. Felicity goes to design posters and Cash and Tane mention she’s back to her normal self.

Near the coffee cart, Alf and Bree discuss the tests he’s had. Bree thinks everything will come back fine. Alf goes to greet Marilyn, who apologises for upsetting him. Alf says he knows she has his best interests at heart. He tells her about the tests and admits his hearing has been going downhill for a while. Marilyn suggests he come to the Diner later.

Kirby isn’t happy about being ambushed, saying Forrest approached her. Justin tries to keep things calm as Kirby says she’s done interviews promoting Lyrik and worked at the Diner to keep them afloat. Eden bluntly asks if she’s bailing on them. Bree appears, which Kirby takes as an opportunity to leave. Eden goes after her, while Theo is unhappy at how the others have handled it.

Outside, Eden catches up to Kirby and agrees she’s always put the band first but that just makes this more surprising. Kirby says Forrest pitched a solo career to her and introduced her to lots of industry people. Eden is unimpressed and tries to insist they appreciate her as well. She also doesn’t seem convinced by Kirby saying she hasn’t made up her mind yet.

Felicity shows Cash some posters she’s designed on the laptop. Tane comes in and says his insurance will cover the clases. Felicity drags him off to get flyers printed, passing Eden, who tells Cash that Kirby might be leaving Lyrik. Back at Salt, Justin tells Theo he wanted everything out in the open but admits it might have been better to talk to Kirby one-on-one. Remi and Bree join them but Justin and Theo quickly bail to go home. Remi regrets pushing Kirby.

Tane and Felicity arrive back home with the flyers. She has printed ones for Salt, giving the code word as “toxic blue”, which sounds like a cocktail. Out the back, Eden laments to Cash about Kirby going behind their backs and is afraid of losing one of her best friends. Cash encourages her to talk to Kirby calmly. Across the road, Theo is telling Remi he needs to talk to Kirby, who emerges from her room and suspects she’s being ambushed again. Theo wonders if something he did is why she’s thinking of leaving and Kirby says it’s about her. Eden arrives and convinces Kirby they should all talk it over as friends.

Bree arrives at the Diner as Marilyn is serving Alf. She says the tests aren’t back yet, but if there’s no underlying condition, he’ll have to have hearing aids. She adds that the specialist will have the final say. Alf snaps that he’ll make the decision. He quickly leaves and Bree tells Marilyn she knows he’s just scared.

At the meeting, Remi and Eden both try to convince Kirby that they need her. Kirby says she hasn’t been happy for a while, with the break-up, working at the Diner and having to do all the interviews. The others offer to help her. Kirby says if they are her friends, they should be at least a little happy for her. Eden accuses her of a lack of loyalty. Theo and Remi try to calm things and Kirby leaves. Theo calls it a nightmare and Eden calls it the end of Lyrik.

Next morning, Justin and Kirby run into each other on the beach. Justin apologises for the ambush and offers her his congratulations. Kirby thanks him, saying Forrest has offered her a three album deal and international tour. Justin says he doesn’t want her to but knows it’s a muso’s dream. Back at the Parata house, Tane and Cash have sorted out self-defence gear and Cash offers to cover costs. Tane and Felicity go to hand out flyers as Eden turns up and tells Cash talking to Kirby didn’t make any difference.

Alf is on the phone to Martha at the Diner, talking about Leah visiting Roo, but is self-conscious about not being able to hear her and quickly takes his leave of Marilyn and Bree, as well as either ignoring or not hearing Kirby. Bree tries to tell Kirby it would be a shame to leave Lyrik. Kirby says not to pressure her. Meanwhile, Justin, Remi, Theo and Eden have met up at the Morgan house. Justin suggests any of the others would be tempted by Forrest’s offer. Eden says they started Lyrik in high school and she’d never give it up. She thinks they need to convince Kirby that she means more to them than to Forrest but also doesn’t think she’s the one to do it. Remi says he’ll talk to her.

Back at the Lyrik house, Remi talks to Kirby about how Lyrik are on the verge of something, asking her to stick around for six months and suggesting Forrest’s deal will still be there then. Kirby says that’s not how it works. Remi points out it’s a risk but Kirby says she can’t live with regret. She walks away. Outside the surf club, Tane and Felicity try to hand out flyers for self-defence but no-one will take them. Tane suggests putting them on the notice board and on the juice bar. Felicity gets on a table and calls out that this concerns all of them and that she was sexually assaulted and it can happen to anyone. Tane backs her up as she says that they need to talk about it and urges everyone to take a flyer. However, no-one does, looking uncomfortable. As it sinks in what she’s just done, Felicity dashes off.
