Extended Summary
Eden and Felicity walk through a park area. Felicity is feeling guilty about not letting Cash talk. She contacted Mackenzie, who wasn’t at work and hasn’t seen Cash. She is determined to fix things for him. Meanwhile, Bree approaches Cash outside the surf club. He continues to be in a rather manic state, saying people should be focusing on the victims, not him. Bree says she knows from Eden that he’s not sleeping and convinces him to talk to her.
Justin turns up at the Lyrik house looking for Kirby, since he needs to tell her about an interview, but Remi doesn’t know where she is. Justin notices the record player, calling it old school. Remi produces the record of Lyrik. Justin cautiously notes Remi is probably busy before Remi offers to play it for him. At the Diner, Irene is pinning up a notice advertising her room for rent. Alf turns up and Irene jokingly offers him the room. Alf is suspicious when she asks how he’s doing but she says it’s just a mate checking in.
Cash and Bree walk on the beach with him noting he couldn’t do his job when it was needed. He says Felicity has closure because of Jeremy being caught but he doesn’t because he wasn’t able to help her. Bree says he’s trying to solve the problem as a police officer while he’s feeling emotions as a brother, which brings him up short. At the coffee cart, Eden talks to Felicity about how Cash has changed and asks why she didn’t tell him about being blackmailed, saying it bothers him. Felicity determines to help him.
Justin and Remi relax listening to the record. Bree turns up and Justin says he has to get onto people about the interviews (Remi says he’s there if Justin can’t find Kirby) but asks Bree for a copy of the record. Remi asks Bree about Cash. Outside the surf club, Cash approaches Tane and says he shouldn’t have been pushy before. Felicity arrives and starts to apologise to Cash but Cash says he was a tool and she doesn’t need to worry about him. He walks away, leaving Felicity confused.
Cash meets up with Eden near the beach and says talking to Bree helped, also mentioning apologising to Tane and Felicity. He says he wants to get back to how he was. At Salt, Felicity fills Tane in on what Eden said. Tane thinks Cash is fine with her not telling him about the blackmail but Felicity is worried that he’s bottling things up.
Justin turns up at the Diner looking for Kirby and notes it was easier when she was with Theo. Irene doesn’t know where she is but recalls her having a lot on her mind earlier. Justin tries to talk to Alf but Alf thinks Marilyn or John has put him up to it and storms out. Later, Justin sees Alf by the surf club and calls out to him, taking three gos to attract his attention. Alf admits he had a lot of time to think on the way back and forth to the city and is worried that people are right and he’s no good to anyone. Justin tells him to at least see a doctor and find out if something else is wrong, saying the alternative is leaving John to run everything.
Remi and Bree are relaxing on his bed listening to the record, with Remi still talking admiringly about it. Bree says they’ll do the same for album number two before jokingly repeating his music assessment. Over at the Parata house, Cash tells Eden that his sergeant was on board with the idea but he shouldn’t have tried to force it on Felicity. Felicity turns up and agrees but also says it was a great idea. She says they’ll talk it over and invites Eden to stay. She also explains to Cash that she didn’t tell him about the blackmail because she didn’t want the video coming out but knows she was wrong.
Tane comes home as Cash, Eden and Felicity are discussing ideas, suggesting staff training and signage. Felicity thinks Mackenzie will be on board. She gets an e-mail from the DPP and is relieved that Jeremy has pleaded guilty. Cash explains this means she doesn’t have to go to court and Felicity says it’s over. She gets a hug and kiss from Tane and invites him to join the conversation.
At the coffee cart, Irene serves Remi and Bree, who make plans for a drink at Salt and then alone time. However, Remi then gets a text from Justin asking to meet, while Alf turns up to see Bree. They note next time she has a day off they’ll stay in bed. After Remi’s gone, Alf explains that people are worried about his hearing. Bree suggests he see a specialist.
Justin and Remi meet up at the Lyrik house. Justin explains he was talking to a record producer who asked him why Kirby was meeting with Forrest Duke. Remi knows of him and that he represents solo artists. Back at the Parata house, Tane suggests offering self-defence clases. Cash thinks it’s a great idea but Felicity freezes up, pointing out they wouldn’t have helped her. Tane says it’ll be worth it to give women a sense of control and Felicity agrees. Eden gets a text from Remi summoning her to an urgent band meeting. Cash walks her to the door and thanks her for her support.
Justin is on the phone to Kirby as Eden joins him and Remi at Salt. Remi explains about Kirby meeting with a label rep for solo artists. Justin ends the call and says that Kirby’s on her way and she and Theo will be there in an hour. Eden says she’d better have a good explanation.
