Extended Summary
Remi and Bree walk through a park area, with him looking at the e-mails Justin sent him about the launch. Bree gets a text from Rose saying a parcel has arrived for her. She tells Remi they’re going back to hers. When they get there, she hands him the parcel, saying she had it made for him: It’s a record of Lyrik’s album. Remi is delighted, saying it’s the most amazing thing he’s touched apart from her, and wonders if she has a record player, before saying he knows where to find one.
Tane notes Felicity heading off to work and agrees that it’s good she’s getting back to it. Cash and Eden arrive home and Cash, in a rather detached manner, says he’s going to go and lie down. Eden claims he was fine during the holiday and checks in on Felicity. Over the road, Kirby is getting ready in the bathroom, looking uncomfortable. She finds Bree in the house and is evasive about where she’s going. Remi appears with the record and a portable player. He invites Kirby to listen to it with them but she has to go. Remi says she did a great job on the interview.
Cash rejoins Eden, having not got any sleep. She apologises that the trip away didn’t help, before getting a text from Remi saying to come over and brings beers and pizza. Cash tries to get her to go without him but she says it might be good for him. At Salt, Mackenzie gives Kirby some dutch courage. Felicity wonders why she needs it and Kirby claims she has a date. Cash and Eden turn up; Eden assumes Kirby is joining her and Remi. Forrest comes in and Kirby hurries over to him, leaving her drink behind. Felicity tells Eden that Kirby has a date, while Mackenzie shows the pair to their table.
Later, Remi is playing the record to Bree, Cash and Eden. Eden tells Cash they can go if he wants but he’s fine with staying. She then tells Remi about Kirby’s “date”. Back at Salt, Forrest tells Kirby that if she signs exclusively with him, he’ll make sure her vision is brought to life. Kirby checks that he wants her to leave Lyrik. Forrest understands that might not be what she wants but says a band has multiple opinions, which all disappear in a solo career. He tells her to take time to think about it and leaves. Mackenzie and Felicity watch, with Felicity looking confused.
Kirby heads home and looks inside to see Remi and Bree dancing to the record. She slips away without them seeing her, as Cash and Eden tells the others they’re going to bed. In the bedroom, Cash tells Eden she can spend time with her friends. Eden admits she’s worried about him. Cash insists he’ll get there. Kirby turns up at the Diner, where Irene is closing up but gets her a coffee. Kirby says she has a big decision to make and the problem is it doesn’t just affect her.
During the night, Eden finds Cash sat up with his phone. She tries to encourage him to come back to bed but he chooses to stay there. She tries to tell him that he’s a good cop, that Felicity made her choices and that they all want to hurt the person that did this to her. She realises her words aren’t making a difference. Next morning, Felicity and Tane have just finished a swim on the beach. Felicity describes Kirby’s date as “hot”, prompting Tane to remind her she’s married and pull her towards him, noting they seem to be getting back to normal. Mackenzie arrives and Felicity asks her about the “date” but Mackenzie claims ignorance.
Eden finds Cash up. He tells her he’s called his sergeant and has to go into work about something, but it’s nothing to worry about. Remi and Bree appear after he’s gone and Eden admits Cash isn’t all right: He’s not sleeping and is barely eating. Remi gives her a hug. At the coffee cart, Irene jokingly wonders if Kirby is hanging around there because she wants her job back. Kirby says she’s closer to making a decision. She calls Forrest’s number, asking for more information.
Tane and Felicity are about to head off to work when Cash turns up in a rather single-minded and inappropriately urgent state, saying he needs to talk to Felicity and Mackenzie and has been arranging a scheme with Mangrove River and Reefton Lakes to help bars, clubs and restaurants prevent sexual assaults. Felicity says they’ve already got the staff being more vigilant but Cash says this is a formal police scheme, not amateur attempts. Felicity gets offended while Cash continues to insist she needs to let him help her until Tane steps in. Cash leaves, saying he’ll talk to Mackenzie. Felicity goes over to Eden and wonders what’s going on. Eden admits Cash hasn’t been himself.
Remi and Bree are walking near the beach. Remi thinks Cash seemed fine last night. Bree recalls Cash was in a bad way when she first met him and wonders if he’s going back to that. They see Cash walking purposefully near the surf club and Remi encourages Bree to go see him, wishing her luck.
