Extended Summary

Lyrik’s van pulls back into the road where they live. Cash is waiting for them and happily greets Eden. Felicity asks if she gets a hug. Cash obliges, despite pointing out she was only gone one night. Remi looks around, disappointed, until Theo and Kirby ask him for a hand shifting the gear. Across the road, Kahu tells Tane that he decided TAFE wasn’t for him. He says he has a dream and would rather spend the money on that. Before he can elaborate, Felicity comes home. Tane sends Kahu on ahead to work while he greets her.

Eden and Kirby bring the Lyrik gear into the house and wonder when they can afford a roadie. Eden wonders if they can convince Justin it’s his job and Theo drily wishes her luck. Eden suggests Cash give up his job and do it. As they kiss, Kirby suggests they get a room and they happily oblige. Remi sends a text to Bree, who is at the Diner flat, dressed for the beach. She sees the text but doesn’t answer it.

Kirby and Theo exit the house with Kirby excitedly talking about gigging again. She sees John and asks him if Marilyn sorted things. He doesn’t give details but suggests Marilyn might appreciate a call from Kirby. Theo gets a text from Leah about Andrew staying with them and asks to stay at Kirby’s. Near the beach, Felicity chats to Tane before he excuses her in order to talk to Kahu. He asks Kahu about his dream. Kahu reminds him when they used to go out on the boat fishing as kids and says he wants that feeling again: Having his own boat and being his own boss. He says he was hoping Tane would invest.

Cash and Eden are curled up in bed. Eden says she’s glad to be home and Cash jokingly says he thought she wouldn’t want to come back. Eden realises what he wants her to say and tells him she loves him. Cash says he loves her too. Meanwhile, Remi has tracked Bree down on the beach after her surf. She claims she was in the surf when his text came through. She is rather stilted with him but does agree to walking home together and ask him about his trip.

At Salt, Tane tells Felicity about what happened with Kahu and about him asking to invest. Felicity thinks Kahu has used up his chance and is shocked to hear that Tane’s actually considering it. Tane thinks it’s not a bad idea. At the Diner flat, Remi has made a coffee while Bree gets changed. Remi tries to ask how she’s been but Bree only gives vague answers and quickly suggests they head out to Salt.

Felicity asks Tane if Kahu really knows about trawlers. Tane says he used to work on one. Felicity says people go to uni to learn how to run a business. Tane points out neither of them did and Felicity backs off. Theo and Kirby pass Remi and Bree as they come in and tease Remi about being a lost puppy without her. Remi asks Bree if she’s okay and Bree says she’s just hungry. Meanwhile, Tane goes down to the gym and tells Kahu he can’t invest in the business. Kahu says that’s okay and he’ll find someone that believes in him.

Cash rejoins Eden in the bedroom. Eden says it felt strange being away but singing their song made her feel connected to him. Outside, Theo and Kirby are practising new ideas for songs. John appears with the group’s mail; they are somewhat bemused that he collected it despite them not being away that long. Kirby says she hasn’t got hold of Marilyn. John says she’s stopped the business, although he’s not sure how she got out of the contract. After he’s gone, Kirby expresses doubt about this, pointing out Marilyn’s socials are still active.

Tane returns home and finds Kahu making dinner. He asks Kahu what he’d do with the TAFE money if he kept it and Kahu says he’d register the business, apply for permits and moorings and look into an accreditation course. Impressed, Tane tells him he can keep the money and also offers to help find other investors.

Back at Salt, Felicity is sharing her concerns with Cash and Eden. Remi calls Cash over and asks him what Bree was like while he was away. Bree comes back at that moment and Cash suggests he talk to her. Remi suggests Bree come back to his and she somewhat reluctantly agrees. They go to the house and he says he missed her, before admitting to asking Cash to look in on her, saying she seemed uncomfortable when he left and still does. Bree quickly makes her excuses and leaves but then turns back and suggests they have breakfast tomorrow.

Next morning, Felicity is sat by the pool outside the house. Tane joins her and tells her about letting Kahu keep the money despite not being an investor. Felicity thinks it’s rewarding him for lying. Tane thinks it won’t happen again. Kahu comes out and offers to leave them to it. Tane asks him to man the gym today since he’s going to Yabbie Creek to check out new gym equipment.

Remi turns up at the Diner flat but finds Bree heading out to work. He reminds her of their breakfast plans and asks what’s going on. Bree says she has a meeting with her counsellor before explaining that she could be herself when Jacob was away and dreaded him coming home and finding something wrong. She says she felt the same when Remi went away: She knows it doesn’t make sense but she worried that he’d be different when he came back. She leaves him alone.
