Extended Summary

Outside the Lyrik house, Theo suggests to Kirby that he stay over again but Kirby is distracted, still thinking about Marilyn. Felicity walks purposefully towards the house, asking if Cash and Eden are home. Kirby says Cash went to work but Eden’s there. She asks what’s wrong and Felicity replies “In-laws.” At Salt, Kahu greets Mackenzie and tells her about Tane leaving him in charge of the gym while he’s in Yabbie Creek. Mackenzie notes that means being in charge of the front desk and answering the phone. Kahu orders a double shot coffee to go. He attempts to ask advice about winning over Felicity.

Felicity rants to Eden about Tane giving Kahu money. Eden realises she’s upset that Tane ignored her opinion. Felicity notes he’s taken off to Yabbie Creek to avoid her, before admitting she has to get back to work. Eden says not to take her mood out on customers and Felicity says she can’t promise if it’s Kahu. She passes Remi as she leaves. Eden wonders if Remi wants to know why she was there. Remi doesn’t.

Marilyn serves Alf at the coffee cart. Alf asks if she’s heard from Stunning Organs and Marilyn reminds him she said she’d fight her own battles. Theo and Kirby turn up. Kirby mentions talking to John. Marilyn tries to cut the conversation off but Theo says he told them she’d closed her business down and Kirby wonders why the socials are still up. Marilyn simply says she hasn’t taken them down yet.

Eden goes to Remi’s room where he’s strumming his guitar. She says she thought he was spending the day with Bree and he says that was the plan. Eden says she’s staying until he feels like talking. Remi explains about how him going away is triggering for Bree. Eden reminds him that going away is a big part of what they do. Remi says there need to be changes.

Marilyn tries to bustle Alf away. Alf is initially going to stay but Marilyn convinces him to look in on John supervising the revamp. Theo also leaves and Kirby asks Marilyn what’s going on. Marilyn admits she can’t get out of the contract, is still receiving deliveries and is lying to Alf and Roo. She says she was worried she’d get into trouble if she stood up to the company and isn’t sure what to do.

Kahu calls out to Felicity as she approaches the surf club. She tries to ignore him but he follows her, asking about the cold shoulder. She challenges him about lying to Tane. Kahu says he was going to return the money to Tane but Tane told him to keep it. Felicity thinks Tane would never do anything else given what family means to him. Kahu says it means a lot to him too but Felicity thinks he’s only interested in their pockets and is taking advantage. Mackenzie watches from the balcony.

Later, up in Salt, Mackenzie quizzes Felicity about the argument. Felicity tells her about Kahu not enrolling at Salt and Tane letting him keep the money. Mackenzie points out that herself and Dean bail each other out regardless of who’s in the right and Felicity and Cash are the same. In the gym, Kahu is on the phone to Tane, taking instructions and assuring him he’s got everything covered. He notices a photo of Ari and Mia on the desk and thanks Tane for believing in him.

Outside the Lyrik house, Remi tells Eden he has a plan to make things easier on Bree: They work on the album instead of touring, while playing Salt and local venues. He points out she’ll get to spend more time with Cash but is a bit vague on how they’ll finance it. Eden doesn’t think giving up something he loves is the answer.

At the Diner, Alf chats to Marilyn about the surf club refurbishments and says he’ll talk to her about the skincare situation over dinner. Marilyn says sge’s got a meeting with a real lawyer next week. After Alf’s gone, she admits to Kirby it isn’t true. Kirby offers to help her. Meanwhile, Felicity goes to see Kahu at the gym and tells him she wants an olive branch thing. Kahu says he accepts her apology. Felicity says she’s not sorry for looking out for Tane but is willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. However, she’s less happy to see him looking up an electronic gadget online.

Theo turns up at the Diner, and Marilyn and Kirby show him a video they’ve recorded in which they relate how Roo ended up in hospital with a reaction and the products are low quality, how Stunning Organics refuse to let Marilyn out of her contract and are forcing her to sell products she doesn’t believe in, and how they don’t care about anyone. Theo asks if they’ve uploaded it. Kirby promptly posts the video to both their socials.

Iin Salt, Mackenzie tells Felicity she’s made the right decision supporting Kahu. Felicity isn’t so sure and isn’t happy when Kahu comes in. Kahu suggests she invests in his business as well. Felicity is gobsmacked and, after taking a deep breath, says she’s going on her break. Mackenzie says a lot of successful businesses get told no to start with. Kahu cheeringly argues that Felicity hasn’t said no. Mackenzie offers to help him out with a business plan.

Marilyn, Kirby and Theo walk through a park area. Kirby celebrates that they’re getting lots of likes and reposts. Theo says he never said it wouldn’t be popular, but he’s been burned by social media. Kirby says nothing they said isn’t true. Marilyn asks them not to tell Alf and Roo. Meanwhile, Remi continues to lobby Eden with the album idea, saying he’s already asked for quotes from studios. Eden points out they’d need to tour to promote it. Remi says it’ll give them time for Bree to sort out her problems. Eden agrees to support him. Remi gets a quote: $12,000 for two days in the studio…and that’s mate’s rates.

Mackenzie advises Kahu on how to woo investors, saying they need reassurance and projections. She asks how many boats. Kahu says one for now. Mackenzie says more would be more attractive to investors but also a bigger risk, concluding that you have to take risks. Kahu kisses her, calling it taking a risk.

Eden and Remi are putting the album idea to Theo and Kirby, who are a bit bemused by the rush. Remi says they just need to finance it and suggests getting Justin involved. Theo says he’s busy with community service, anger management counselling and Andrew. He suggests a loan and Remi wonders about a credit card. Kirby gets a text and tells Theo it’s from a Stunning Organics lawyer, saying if she doesn’t take the video down, she’ll be sued for defamation.

Mackenzie and Kahu go into the store room in a passionate clinch. Mackenzie suddenly pulls back, saying they can’t do it there. Kahu asks her place or his.
