Extended Summary

Mackenzie notices Nikau at the bar in Salt, staring at a video on his phone. He explains Tane proposed to Felicity, prompting Mackenzie to excitedly ask to watch the video. Xander hovers nearby and asks if he can order. Nikau shares the news. Up on the cliff path, Felicity wonders how they’re going to get Eden downhill and produces a beer for her, but to cool the injury, not to drink. Eden says she’d like to forget the whole day, adding she doesn’t mean Felicity’s engagement and congratulating her. Cash helps Eden up and she leans on him as she hobbles downhill.

Mackenzie offers Nikau and Xander another round as Felicity and Tane turn up. Mackenzie congratulates them and takes Felicity to the bar for a gossip, saying she and Tane have got their whole lives ahead of them. Later, Xander asks if they’re going to have children. Tane says it’s a bit early to decide that but Nikau thinks they should have loads. Picking up on Felicity’s mood, Mackenzie takes her into the store room and tells her to breathe, noting she looks like she’s walking a gangplank. Felicity bursts into tears.

Remi and Cash are both with Eden at the hospital as Bree looks her over. Bree orders an x-ray to make sure it’s not broken and both Cash and Remi insist on staying. Cash asks why Remi said Eden had feelings for him. Remi sends him to get coffee. Later, Bree tells Eden the ankle was only sprained so she can have it strapped and go straight home. Eden claims to be going into shock, asking Bree to keep her in and admitting she doesn’t want to go home with Remi or Cash. Bree says she can’t keep her in for a sprained ankle. Cash tries to quiz Remi, asking if he said what he did because he was jealous. Remi hints that she lied but refuses to give a straight answer.

Nikau assures Tane that Felicity is fine. Mackenzie gives him a reassuring wave from the bar before rejoining Felicity, who says Tane put a lot of effort in but it felt like a nightmare having everyone waiting for her to say yes and she didn’t want to hurt or humiliate him. Mackenzie points out that she loves him and would still want to be with him tomorrow, so only the ring has changed and they could be engaged for years. Felicity muses that maybe she just needs time to get used to it.

Bree wheels Eden back to Cash and Remi, saying to stay off the ankle for a few days. Eden tries to get a taxi home but Cash says his car is outside and Eden and Remi only live across the road from him. He takes them home but Eden quickly gets him to leave, saying him spending the night isn’t a good idea and also discouraging him from coming to see her tomorrow. Remi queries her telling Cash she didn’t have feelings for him. Eden says he doesn’t feel the same way. Remi thinks continuing to see him will hurt.

Tane and Felicity exit the surf club. He asks what she and Mack were talking about. Felicity says Mackenzie just wondered if she needed time off for her honeymoon and notes the details don’t matter: She wants to spend the rest of her life with him.

Next morning, Remi joins Bree on the balcony at Salt. She wonders what’s going on with Eden. Remi cautiously says Eden is seeing someone who thinks it’s casual while she has feelings. Bree realises he means Cash. Remi suggests they do something but Bree is on night shifts. A man that will soon be identified as Jacob comes over and snidely calls the situation cosy. Bree says she didn’t expect him back for weeks. Jacob says he got back last night hoping to surprise her. Remi introduces himself and Jacob confirms he’s Bree’s husband, gripping Remi’s outstretched hand harder than necessary.

Jacob and Bree leave and Jacob notes he didn’t see her at the motel room. Bree says she had a night shift and went to Salt for breakfast. Jacob thinks she was on a date but Bree assures him Remi knows she’s a happily-married woman and the hospital will confirm where she was. Xander comes past and calls out a greeting to Bree. Jacob asks if she’s on first name terms with all the young men in town.

Nikau tells Tane and Felicity that Chloe and Mia send their congratulations and Gemma congratulated her on tying Tane down: He sent the proposal video to the whole whanau. He says they’re asking when the big day is and Felicity quickly says it’ll be a while yet. Nikau and Tane head off to work. Cash arrives and notices Felicity looks happy. Felicity says she wants to wake up with Tane every morning and jokes about him giving his girlfriend TLC. Mackenzie overhears and is shocked to hear he was with Eden. Cash approaches Remi and asks after her but he says to leave him out of it. Cash goes round to see Eden, who admits Remi was right and she does have feelings for him. Cash says they should stop seeing each other and Eden asks him to leave.

Jacob and Bree arrive back at their motel room. Bree says she runs into people she works with or patients all the time. She appreciates the flowers he brought. Jacob says they and the champagne were better last night. Bree says she spends most nights hoping he’ll come home. Jacob asks about the “most” and she says she has to work sometimes. Jacob accuses her of spending time with her boyfriend and Bree says she’d have arranged time off work if she’d known he was coming. At the surf club, Xander joins Remi for a game of pool. Remi is worried that Jacob misread things. He decides to send Bree a text saying to call him to let him know everything’s all right. He says he’ll feel better when he gets a reply.

Bree comes back into the bedroom. Jacob has her phone and says her boyfriend wants her to call. Bree insists that’s not what he means. Jacob tells her to look at him, forcing her to look him in the eye and saying to tell him again that nothing’s going on.
