Extended Summary

Down on the beach, Mackenzie asks Dean if he’s excited about the first ultrasound. They see Justin approaching and Dean warns Mackenzie he doesn’t know Ziggy’s pregnant. Justin asks why they’re smiling and they say they’re just excited about Lyrik’s next gig at Salt. At the surf club, Remi loses a second game to Xander. Rose turns up, admitting she couldn’t sleep because she was thinking about Heather. Remi checks his phone and says there’s no answer from Bree, explaining he’s worried Jacob got the wrong idea about them. Rose suggests explaining things.

Bree insists to Jacob that there’s nothing going on with Remi. Jacob asks how she knows him. Bree says he was a patient when he was mugged and claims he only had her number in case he needed follow-up treatment. She manages to get Jacob to sit down and asks him about his flight. He says he was too excited to sleep. He decides to go out for some fresh air. Bree says he can call round to the hospital at 2pm for her break.

At the Diner, Irene tells Alf and Roo she’s a bit short-staffed with Marilyn off sick. They note Marilyn’s holed up in her room. Alf says he thought she’d be back to her old self with Heather gone. Roo suggests she’s ashamed of what she did to John’s car. She expresses disappointment that Heather left without saying goodbye, saying she thought of her as more of a friend than a client.

Bree is making the bed at the motel. She calls Remi, who is at the surf club, and assures him she’s okay. Remi asks if Jacob is always like that. Bree says he hadn’t much sleep and tells him not to come over, since she needs to spend time with Jacob. She says not to text or call because she’ll be busy with Jacob and she’ll let him know when they can hang out again.

Jacob approaches Dean, who is hosing down boards outside the surf club. He introduces himself, explaining he’s Bree’s husband. Dean recalls she helped his girlfriend. Jacob says he’s thinking of getting her a present but then asks Dean about Remi. Dean says he thinks he’s god’s gift because he can play guitar. Jacob goes over to Remi, suggesting he took an interest in the new woman in town. Remi says Bree made it clear she was married and they’re just friends. Jacob suggests a player like him must not be used to getting knockbacks. Remi says it happens more than he’d like to admit and Bree explained everything. Jacob asks when that was. Remi asks if there’s a problem. Jacob says he was just curious. He goes back to the motel and accuses Bree of calling Remi behind his back the moment he was gone. He gets in her face and tells her to stop lying.

Inside the surf club, John complains to Justin about the lack of interest in neighbourhood watch. Justin says there’s not much crime in the area. John points out there was a break-in at Justin’s. Roo comes over and asks if the police have any suspects for the robbery. (John points out it wasn’t a robbery because nothing was taken.) Justin says Marilyn having a go at Leah didn’t help. This is news to John and Roo. Justin hastily says he doesn’t know the details.

Upstairs, Remi is sat at a table looking pensive. Mackenzie shows Justin the video of Lyrik playing at Tane’s proposal. He tries to show it to John but John says he hears enough of them rehearsing. Justin asks Rose about the break-in and she says there’s no witnesses or fingerprints. She comments to Xander that she keeps hitting brick walls with Heather.

Dean and Mackenzie chat about Tane and Felicity’s engagement. Mackenzie says Felicity was a bit uncertain last night but looked happy this morning. She adds that she’s researched twelve week scans and not only do you get a photo but you can tell if it’s twins or triplets. Remi comes out onto the balcony and Mackenzie asks who the intense guy she saw with Bree was. Remi explains he was Bree’s husband and Dean notes he was asking after Remi. Remi explains Jacob saw him with Bree, and Dean asks if Jacob decked him, saying he would have. Remi ponders if Jacob’s jealous and why he left Bree to come looking for him. Dean suggests Remi’s just annoying.

Jacob gets Bree some ice. She now has a cut and bruised face. She says she has to get ready for work and that Jacob can’t keep doing this to her and needs help. Jacob says it’s just seeing her with other guys. Bree says there are no other guys and it’s all in his head. She says it’s too late for her to take the day off work: She’ll try and get time off while he’s here, but it’s hard with her being new. She goes to the bathroom, looking upset.

Xander and Rose are relaxing on the beach but Rose is looking at her phone. Xander wonders if she’s looking at the dating app. He takes the phone; Rose says she’s changed the passcode but Xander quickly guesses it since it’s his birthday. He finds she was looking up Heather. Rose is certain she’s missing something.

At the Diner, John and Roo have filled in Irene about Leah and Marilyn’s falling out. Irene protests that Leah has been Marilyn’s rock. John suggests Heather did the break-in at Leah’s but no-one else is convinced. Alf turns up: They try to pretend they were just making small talk but he realises they were talking about Marilyn.

Bree goes to the lift at work. She looks at herself in a compact mirror and tries to cover her cut lip with make-up. Exiting, she runs into Remi who is there to see her and says he wanted to check she was okay. Bree says she asked him for space. Remi asks if she’s allowed to have friends, then notices her face and asks if Jacob did it.

At the surf club, Dean calls the hospital to check what floor the ultrasound is on. He is puzzled by the response he gets. Mackenzie appears with coffees and Dean tells her that Ziggy cancelled the ultrasound. Outside, he runs into Justin and asks if Ziggy’s still at work but Justin says she left early for an appointment. Dean leaves Ziggy a worried message.

Remi and Bree head to an office. Remi thinks Jacob got jealous and hit her. Bree says a patient lashed out at her. Remi protests that she’s only just arrived and she claims she was coming back from a break. She says Remi is making things worse for her. A male nurse pops his head round the door and says Jacob’s there. Bree asks Remi to wait in the office until he’s gone. She greets Jacob and offers him a tour. Remi emerges after they’ve gone.

Alf, Irene, John and Roo discuss the situation with Leah and Marilyn. Irene isn’t convinced that they should get involved. John thinks it was about Heather. Roo isn’t so sure but agrees with Alf that they need to sort it out. John leaves them to it, thinking he won’t be much help. Roo isn’t convinced they’ll do any good but Irene says Alf is the person most likely to get them talking. Roo is apologetic, since Alf was meant to be seeing Martha. Alf says he’s not going anywhere until this is sorted.

Ziggy pulls up outside the surf club. Dean races over and asks about her cancelling the ultrasound and why she did it. Ziggy assures him she’s fine and suggests they go for a walk.
