Extended Summary

Theo and Kirby come up from the beach. They have received a request for another gig on the back of their publicity. Eden turns up and Kirby comments on her love life being a wasteland. She asks about Remi. Eden says she’s on the way to the hospital to see him and suggests they come too, saying she’ll get coffees while they get dressed.

Back at the hospital, Remi has followed Bree and asks about her not wearing a ring. Bree says it’s an infection risk. He demands information on her husband. Bree snaps that his name’s Jacob, he’s a fly-in/fly-out mechanic at the mines, they’ve known each other since high school and they’re very much in love. Softening at his hurt reaction, she says she and Remi are friends but nothing more. Remi accepts it and goes back to bed.

Cash is sat at the bar in Salt, looking lost in thought. Eden joins him and asks if he’s coming to their next gig, saying she’ll badger him until he does. Cash, seeming to relax a bit, says he’ll think about it. As he makes to leave, Eden asks what happened with the guy that bashed Remi. Cash, seeming withdrawn again, says he’s behind bars. Eden says Cash is always there when they need him.

Roo goes to Heather’s caravan and explains about the nasty review she got, asking if Heather will write a positive one to counteract it. Heather agrees. Marilyn walks past; Roo glares at her and Marilyn quickly walks on, looking awkward. Roo admits she doesn’t think a student wrote the review and Heather asks if she thinks Marilyn wrote it. Roo says she hopes not.

Marilyn arrives at the Diner. Irene asks if she’s got any more nasty messages. Marilyn says she was just checking for a response from the cybercrime unit. She admits she went straight to bed when she got home. Alf comes in and complains about Marilyn avoiding Roo. He wants her to go to the hospital to rule things out. Irene encourages her to go as well.

At the hospital, Marilyn tries to convince Alf there’s no reason for her to be there. Bree appears; Marilyn suggests there must be more important things but Bree says all patients are important. Elsewhere, Remi is playing the guitar for Eden, Theo and Kirby. He says he should be out that afternoon. Theo and Kirby talk about the gig requests and Remi tells them to sort it as payback for hogging the limelight. Cash arrives to interview Remi and, when he doesn’t immediately get the response he wants, orders everyone else out and chides Remi for rushing into danger. The others wonder what’s up with him.

Outside the surf club, Theo and Kirby discuss that not only have they got to sort out the gigs but also the rent and a budget for food and petrol. They ask Eden to help out but she says she has to go somewhere and takes a pizza. She heads to the police station and tells Cash she’s brought him lunch. He reluctantly takes her into the interview room and asks if Felicity put her up to it. He says he was doing his job earlier. Eden says he was being a tool.

Bree assures Marilyn there’s nothing wrong with her medication. As they rejoin Alf, Marilyn offers Bree a large slice of mudcake next time she’s in the Diner. Marilyn says Alf can tell Roo she’s fine but is heading home to rest. Bree finds Remi chatting up a nurse, Stacey. She sends Stacey to update Remi’s GP records, even though he doesn’t have a GP.

Eden offers various theories about Cash’s attitude: He was shot, he shot someone, he had his heart broken. Cash reacts to the last one. Eden says he’s a nice guy who’ll find someone else. Cash says being a nice guy is why he got here and presses her for why they didn’t work out. Eden admits she doesn’t do serious and it was what he wanted. Cash brings the conversation to an end.

At the Diner, Alf tells Irene and Roo about Marilyn’s clean bill of health. Roo asks why Marilyn’s being deliberately horrible in that case. She finds Heather has posted the review she said she would. Irene suggests Marilyn didn’t post the other review. Roo thinks Marilyn was the only one that knew Alf wouldn’t give her a job. Meanwhile, Marilyn knocks on the door of Heather’s van. On getting no response, she lets herself in. Heather sees her from the shower block and calls the police, saying someone’s breaking into her van.

Kirby tells Theo she’s arranged a new date for the gig that doesn’t clash with Salt. Theo is trying to sort out all the new bookings. Kirby gets texts saying both Eden and Remi are on their way. Later, Theo and Kirby try to explain the issues to a distracted Eden. Remi arrives back but has Stacey with him and says he has to go and lie down. Eden also excuses herself to call Felicity. Theo and Kirby comment on being left alone again. Theo says they’re not technically alone, as they hear Remi and Stacey in his room.

Marilyn is searching the van when Cash comes in. He tells her to step outside where Roo and Heather are waiting with another police officer. Marilyn admits she took a key but refuses to say why. When she persistently refuses to co-operate, Cash arrests her for breaking and entering. At the police station, Alf and Roo comment on Marilyn’s behaviour and tells Heather she’s not normally like this. Cash tries to get answers from Marilyn but she refuses to say any more. He gets her to sign her limited statement, then calls for Heather to come in. Heather says she doesn’t want to press charges and thought it was a dangerous criminal in her van. Cash says it’s a police matter now but, when the others say it’s not going to help Marilyn, he screws up the statement and says Heather’s done Marilyn a favour. Heather gives Marilyn a smug smile as they all exit.

Theo and Kirby look over a board covered in post-it notes and conclude they’ve done it: They just need to book accommodation and write some new songs. Eden comes in and looks over it, before saying they’re never going to play the Pigs Ears again and she can’t rehearse on Wednesdays. Kirby hands her the board and tells her to do it.

Marilyn knocks on the door of Heather’s van. Heather sarcastically asks if she’s there to say thank you. Marilyn produces the birth certificate and says she knows Heather’s her daughter, asking why she’s doing this. Heather just says that now they can stop pretending.
