Extended Summary
Felicity finds Rose waiting by a police car. Rose confirms that she’s working with Cash today, for the first time since before the shooting. Felicity thinks it’s too early. Cash returns and isn’t too happy that they were talking about him. He and Rose get a call about the theft and assault at the surf club. Xander is arriving on the scene where John has been tending to Remi. Cash and Rose also arrive and Cash tries to question Remi about what happened. Remi recalls he was hit with a guitar case but can’t remember what the guy looked like. Xander says he’s concussed and not up to answering questions. Rose convinces Cash they’d be better off talking to John.
Irene arrives back at the Diner to find Marilyn on the phone to Jett assuring him she didn’t send the message. Roo explains to her that someone sent Jett a message from Marilyn’s account. Marilyn insists it was Heather. Roo asks what Heather would have to gain and says Marilyn has done a lot of things lately that she didn’t think she would. She asks if Marilyn has gone back to her doctor. Marilyn says she hasn’t had time but insists she’s taking her medication.
At the surf club, John tries to drop hints to Cash and Rose about Remi’s lack of permit but Cash isn’t interested. Alf comes in and asks about the ambulance, while John gets a text from Roo about Marilyn. Felicity watches from the stairs as Cash rather abruptly cuts through their conversation and manages to get a description of the thief from John.
Xander brings Remi into hospital, telling Bree that he’s confused. He is taken into a cubicle and shifted across onto the bed. Bree wonders about the fact he’s stopped talking, moments before he has a seizure. Bree calls for drugs and orders a head CT. At Salt, Roo tells Alf and John about Marilyn insisting Heather’s hacked her social media account. Alf insists they should do nothing yet.
Cash and Rose drive around with Cash complaining that the thief will be long gone and Xander wasted their time. Rose says Xander was right about Remi being concussed but Cash says it was his call. He suddenly spots Pete, who throws down the guitar case and runs. Cash chases him and Pete runs into a table. Cash wrestles him to the floor, pulling his arms roughly behind his back while he cries out in protest. Rose says to be careful. Cash says he’s okay and Rose says she meant of Pete. Cash says it’s what Pete gets for not stopping when a police officer tells him to. Rose insists on taking over cuffing and arresting Pete.
At the hospital, Remi wakes up and asks Bree if he’s died because this looks like heaven. Bree tells him about the seizure and says the scan came back okay but he has to stay in for observation. John arrives with Remi’s guitar and Bree leaves them to it. Remi asks if John’s going to tell him this is what he gets for busking without a permit but John just hopes he’s all right. He doesn’t know if the thief’s been caught but knows Cash was gunning for him.
Cash brings Pete into the station. Pete complains his shoulder has been dislocated, calling it police brutality. Cash roughly shoves him into a chair in the inyerview room. Rose asks where it hurts and Pete claims his arm’s gone numb, asking for a doctor. Rose takes Cash aside and says they have a duty to give him medical attention if he asks for it. Cash says they have a duty to get him off the streets. Rose says Cash has done that but it looked like excessive force. Cash says he’s going to start on the paperwork and Rose can do whatever she likes.
Meanwhile, Alf and Roo arrive at the Diner with Roo insisting she can’t let Marilyn harass her students. She gets an alert for a review on the TAFE website and, seeing Marilyn with Irene, accuses her of writing it: The review calls her a bored ex-teacher whose dad won’t employ her and says people would get better lessons from a dead prawn. Marilyn denies it as Alf tries to step in. Roo storms off and Marilyn goes back into the kitchen. Alf goes after Roo, and Irene after Marilyn.
Xander goes to check on Remi, while Rose introduces Bree to Peter Wilson, who she says was injured during the arrest. After Pete is out of earshot, Rose tells Bree and Xander that Cash got excited while arresting him. Bree says to remind him he has a counsellor he can see. At the police station, Cash files some paperwork. Irene and Marilyn arrive and Marilyn says someone is out to get her. She says someone sent a message to her son Jett. Cash keeps cutting them off before saying if they want to report cyber fraud, they need to go to the cybercrime unit and all the instructions are online. Felicity comes in during the talk, personally delivering a pizza to Cash, who says she doesn’t need to check up on him.
Irene and Marilyn arrive back at the Diner, Marilyn says it feels like everyone is against her. John arrives and tells Marilyn that he believes she didn’t send Jett the message. Marilyn says Roo doesn’t and is dreading going home. She looks pointedly at Irene who refuses to let Marilyn come home with her. John says there’s a spare room at home but Irene insists Marilyn has to go to her own home and sort it out. Meanwhile, Rose brings Pete back to the police station and sends him into the interview room, responding to his requests for dinner by saying she’ll get him a sandwich. She tells Cash there was bruising but the x-ray came back clear. Cash says now they can get on with police work.
Xander is waiting to be served at Salt, where Felicity is rushed off her feet. They and a newly arrived Rose discuss Cash. Rose says it was a minefield working with him. Felicity thinks it was too soon to go back but Rose says the sergeant signed off on him. Xander mentions the guy he injured and Rose says it’s not as bad as it sounds. At the hospital, Remi picks up the guitar and starts playing. At the Diner, Irene comforts Marilyn. At the police station, Cash stares into space and ignores a call from Felicity. Bree looks over at Remi for a moment.
Next morning, Felicity meets up with Cash near the beach. She reminds him she’s spending the day in the city for Nikau and Tane’s court case and asks about him ignoring her calls, coming home late and going out early. She asks what’s happened to him. Cash says he’s realised nice guys come last so is going to do things differently now. Felicity asks what that even means. Cash tells her not to make Tane and Nik late and she tells him to answer if she calls.
At the hospital, Bree tells Remi his obs are looking good and he should be able to go home if he keeps it up. Remi suggests he takes her out for dinner tonight to thank her. Bree turns him down. Remi asks why she won’t give him a shot when they get on great. Bree says she’s married and walks away, leaving him dumbstruck.
