Extended Summary

Theo and Kirby park back near the surf club with Theo in an excited mood after the gig they’ve just come back from. He babbles about doing a dive into the crowd next time and Kirby tells him to wait until the finale. He suggests they go up to Salt but Kirby suggests he come over for dinner instead. Back at the hospital, Bree leads the attempt to revive Cash and eventually gets him back into sinus. She realises he’s bleeding internally so they need to get him back into theatre. She goes to see Irene, Xander and Rose and asks where Felicity is, explaining the situation and suggesting they get her back there. Irene goes to ring her.

Kirby arrives back at the Parata house and sees Remi and Eden have dropped off their stuff and left. Felicity is distracted and then gets the call from Irene. She briefly fills Kirby in before rushing off. At Salt, Justin thinks Theo is getting pizza for them and Theo explains he’s getting them for the band. Justin protests that he’s got a lot of TAFE stuff to do. Although they chat about the gig, with Justin enthusiastic, he doesn’t seem reassured by Theo’s comments about TAFE.

Theo arrives at the Parata house and wonders if he’s early. Kirby guesses that Remi and Eden stopped off at a pub while dropping the van off. They both think the gig went well. Theo checks she was okay with him improvising harmonies and she assures him she was. She says he’s the best thing to happen to the band in ages and Theo says it’s the best thing that’s happened to him.

At the Diner, Marilyn tells Roo she’s sent a message to Irene and worries that her still being at the hospital isn’t good news for Cash. She asks about Roo’s tutoring. Roo is disappointed that no-one has taken her number and Marilyn suggests she only needs one to spread word of mouth. Alf turns up and he and Roo briefly chat about Cash.

Felicity arrives at the hospital and Xander tells her about the internal bleeding. Felicity turns on Rose, asking how it happened. Rose tells her about Cash not wearing a bulletproof vest and that she tried to tell him. Felicity says she should have been watching his back and tells Xander and Irene that Tex was one of the gang Rose was trying to bring down. Rose retreats into a corner in tears.

Some time later, Xander approaches Rose and says it wasn’t her fault. Rose thinks she should have told someone Cash wasn’t in the right frame of mind. Bree returns and tells them that the surgeon fixed the bleed but it’s a long road back and Cash will be back in ICU soon. Felicity notes Irene’s been there ages and tells her to go. Irene tells the three of them to be kind to each other. Felicity awkwardly says she shouldn’t have had a go at Rose. Rose says she’d have done worse if it was Xander.

At the Diner, Irene fills Alf, Roo, Marilyn and Justin in on the fact Tex was a bikie and that somehow Nikau and Tane were involved since they’re at the cop shop. Justin says he’ll call Theo, since he’s not sure he’s safe at the Paratas’. Alf goes to check the caravan park books. Marilyn offers Irene a cuppa. At the Parata house, Theo and Kirby have finished off the pizzas. While Kirby is getting a drink, Theo starts idly strumming a guitar. Kirby is impressed, especially when she learns he came up with the cords himself, and gets him to play it again, wanting to fit the lyrics they’ve just written to it. Theo wonders if Remi will be okay with him using the guitar. Kirby says it’s in a good cause.

Bree tells Felicity she can see Cash now. Rose wakes Xander and they go with them. Bree explains Cash is in an induced coma and suggests Rose and Xander go and get some rest. Felicity tells Cash she’s got him and says she isn’t leaving until he can come with her. Next morning, Xander finds Rose down on the beach. Rose says she thought they were going to lose Cash when she found him and isn’t sure she could cope if they did. Xander asks if she still has feelings for him. Rose says it’s more complicated than that: She wouldn’t have got together with Tex if her head hadn’t been in a mess over Cash.

Theo and Kirby have stayed up all night working on the song and decide to give it a run-through. Theo is somewhat nervous, wanting the first time to be good. Kirby says perfectionism is death and if it sucks, they’ll work on it. They play through the song about a new beginning. At the surf club, Alf runs into Justin who is looking for Theo. He expresses his frustration that Theo isn’t sticking to his promises about keeping up with his TAFE work and stayed out all night.

Theo’s phone siiently registers the call from Justin but he doesn’t notice. He and Kirby finish the song and both think it went well. They hug and agree they make a good team: They kiss and then awkwardly smile at each other.
