Extended Summary

Mackenzie runs into Logan outside the surf club and he notes she didn’t have to come down to him. Mackenzie realises that they were meant to be having dinner and says she’s had a day. Ziggy appears and says she couldn’t face it anymore. She feels bad about leaving Dean on his own. Mackenzie reassures her, saying she’ll go and spend the night with Dean and that Ziggy should go to her place and she’ll let Bella know she’s coming. Logan offers to go with Mackenzie but she declines. At the farm house, Dean’s phone starts ringing: It is on the table, just out of reach. Dean tries to shuffle across to it and ends up falling off the couch, leaving him in considerable pain. Mackenzie arrives and wants to call an ambulance but Dean refuses, telling her to help him up onto the couch.

Leah finishes a phone call with Dimitri and tells Justin that he hasn’t heard from Theo yet doesn’t care about him. Justin says Theo was scamming Dimitri’s clients. Leah thinks Dimitri was too hard on him but Justin thinks Theo needed discipline. He tries to get Leah to stop worrying about him but Leah reminds him that Theo’s her nephew. Meanwhile, Mackenzie has got Dean settled and explains the situation. She tries to get him to take his pain medication but Dean refuses. He eventually says that the last time he was on medication he lost the plot and he can’t risk it happening again.

Next morning, Ziggy meets up with Logan outside the surf club and explains Mackenzie’s still at hers. She says she’s taking Dean a bacon and egg roll, and has a spare in case he throws one at her. She notes Mackenzie said not to expect too much but she’s still hopeful. Logan offers to go with her. At the Diner, Roo greets Alf, saying she and Martha have just got back and encouraging him to go and see her. Tori, Christian and Grace come in, complete with a cuddly kangaroo from the zoo. They note the zoo function room didn’t exactly fit their plans, since you could hear the lions roaring from the altar. Grace was also screaming about a kangaroo eating out of her hand.

Tane is heading out to work. He finds a note on the door saying “I saw you last night. You’re breaking my heart.” Heading to the surf club, he collides with Felicity and tells her he knows she saw him with Mackenzie last night and she doesn’t have the right to tell him who he can see. Felicity follows him out to the gym, saying she’s not a crazy girlfriend and doesn’t care who he’s with. She demands a refund on her membership. Tane says she won’t be missed.

Logan and Ziggy pull up outside the farm house. Mackenzie comes out to greet them but admits Dean’s still in pain and still isn’t taking his medication. She is worried Ziggy turning up would trigger him again. Logan offers to speak to him. Inside, Dean stares at the bottle of medication and then sweeps it onto the floor. Logan comes in and says he ran into Ziggy. He suggests Dean tell him what’s going on.

Justin finds Leah making coffee but she refuses to give him anything. Justin insists Theo is a scam artist and asks if Leah actually believes what he told them when she tries to say that was the other guys. Leah insists she isn’t turning her back on her family, just like Justin wouldn’t turn his back on his. Tori, Christian and Grace turn up, interrupting the argument. Meanwhile, Mackenzie and Ziggy are sat outside the farm house. Needing a distraction, Ziggy asks what’s going on with Logan. Mackenzie admits things are going well. Ziggy says she wants a month’s free dinners as thanks. Mackenzie admits she wouldn’t have done it without her.

Dean continues to insist to Logan that he doesn’t need pain medication and says it’s all Logan’s fault. Mackenzie appears, in view of Logan but not Dean, as he says Logan should have left him in the car to die. Logan catches up with Mackenzie outside and she wonders why Dean would feel like this when he’s back with the love of his life and has a son who adores him. Ziggy comes over and Mackenzie recalls Dean’s reference to sleeping tablets. Ziggy says he was in a car crash once before where a friend was killed. Logan suspects he has PTSD.

Down on the beach, Felicity is leaving a phone message to Cash complaining about where they’re living. Nearby, Leah is walking with Tori, noting that Theo used to follow VJ around at family gatherings and she suspects he was starved of affection. She also thinks he may have felt he couldn’t live up to what Dimitri expected. Tori reminds her that Theo’s a scam artist and suggests it may have reminded Justin of what they went through with Susie. Justin approaches and apologises, saying he understands why Leah wants to help family. Leah admits she doesn’t fully believe Theo but still can’t give up on him. At the gym, Tane accepts a delivery. The box contains more roses. Roo comes in and jokingly asks if he’s got a secret admirer. Tane finds a note similar to the other one: “Definitely thinking of you.”

Logan and Mackenzie have gone back into the house and ask Dean if there’s a reason he’s refusing medication. Dean says he got addicted to sleeping tablets, sleepwalking and doing crazy stuff. Mackenzie recalls his mother has mental health issues. Logan says they can stop that happening but he needs to get off the couch and start dong physio. Dean says he needs to do something first. Mackenzie shows Ziggy in: Dean is now standing with the crutches. He tells Ziggy he needs to go. Ziggy protests but Mackenzie produces a bag for her and suggests she stay with family. Ziggy admits she hasn’t seen her sister in ages and checks Logan will stay with Dean. Ziggy kisses Dean goodbye and leaves.
