Extended Summary

Emmett runs into Bella outside the Diner and offers to help her carry her boxes. Bella replies that there’s more upstairs to bring. Emmett is reluctant to go to the flat but Bella tells him Mackenzie doesn’t live there anymore. He wonders why she’s bringing her camera and she says she wants to document the exhibition. Emmett assures her that her work is good; when she seems underwhelmed, he amends it to amazing, brilliant and exceptional. Meanwhile, Christian is taking Rachel for another walk on the beach. She thanks him for breaking her out of hospital and Christian says it’s as much for his benefit as hers. Rachel asks if he’s spoken to his fiance and Christian says that’s now ex-fiance. Rachel says both of them are broken and Christian says at least he can fix her. He offers her coffee and cake if he makes it to the end of the pier. They see Tori, walking Grace in her pram, watching from the headland, but she moves on without saying anything. Christian says he doesn’t blame her. As they walk on, Tori stops and looks back.

Bella and Emmett arrive at the surf club. Bella asks Jasmine if she’s coming this afternoon. Jasmine enthusiastically confirms she will and Emmett realises she’s no idea what they’re talking about, handing her a flyer. She agrees to attend. Bella gets a call from Nikau, who is at a shoot in the city. Sienna calls over to Nikau, who asks if he can leave early. Sienna says she hasn’t forgotten the exhibition and realises Nikau hasn’t told Bella about Japan. Allegra comes over and asks Nikau if Bella will be upset. Nikau says probably. Allegra says he’ll be able to buy her a first class plane ticket to visit. Sienna sends Nikau to make-up, before telling Allegra that without Nikau the Japan trip won’t happen.

Ryder is running late: Even though he doesn’t work at Salt anymore, he’s been put in charge of the exhibition because Mackenzie is still avoiding the Paratas. He manages to get Roo to give him her roll. No sooner has he left than Kieran appears at the other door and asks to talk. He wonders if they should wait for Alf and Martha, before saying he was gutted Roo wouldn’t see him. He says his lawyer made it clear how she felt but he’s twelve weeks sober. Roo tells him that Martha has only just got out of hospital after the last time he came. Kieran says he’s done therapy himself. Roo explains that Martha and Alf are away. Kieran asks for a chance to prove he’s changed.

Chloe tells Ari and Mia she’s going to the food truck, which is opening early because of the party. Mia dashes to check her phone when she gets a text alert but it’s Tane saying they’re a staffmember down. Chloe realises something is wrong and asks if they’re breaking up again. Ari says there is something and suggests they go for a walk. Meanwhile, Jasmine is running in the park and comes across Tori with Grace. She asks if Tori’s worried about Justin, since she spoke to Leah last night. Tori thinks he’s staying at a motel and explains about seeing Christian with Rachel. She says even though she ended things, she still loves him, but he didn’t fight and is off living his life.

Ryder reminds Bella that she’s not supposed to take over the whole restaurant. Bella gives him some flyers to hand out. In the city, a photographer takes photos of Nikau and Allegra. Nikau asks Sienna if he’s allowed to have visitors on the trip. Sienna guesses he’s planning a romantic gesture for Bella, but says with the schedule she’s got planned, he’ll be too busy to spend time with her.

Roo says she can’t ask Kieran to stay but they’re both glad they talked. Kieran gives her a letter to give to Martha, saying Roo can read it first and see whether or not to pass it on. He explains it was part of his therapy. Meanwhile, Chloe joins Ari and Mia on the pier where they’ve been debating about telling her. Mia explains she’s pregnant. Chloe wonders why this isn’t good news. Mia gets a call from the obstetrician and goes to take it. Ari explains they had normal tests but then got sent for an ultrasound. Mia returns and says they panicked for nothing: It’s just that she’s further along than they thought. The three of them celebrate the pregnancy together.

Jasmine comes into the Diner for a coffee. She sees Christian and Rachel eating their cake. Rachel waves to her but Jasmine just gives an awkward smile before going outside. Rachel wonders if she’s done something to upset Jamine, who was nice to her in ICU. Christian says it’s all him. Outside the surf club, Ryder has acquired a loudhailer to announce the photography show. He hands a flyer to Tori when she comes past with Grace, although she isn’t sure if she can make it. Nearby, Bella approaches Emmett who admits he’s nervous. Bella says he can’t be because that’s what she’s supposed to be doing. Chloe emerges from the food truck. Ryder senses something’s on her mind and she says she’ll fill him in later. Bella tells him less chat, more flyers. Ryder protests she has a boyfriend for this.

Sienna announces a wrap but asks Nikau to stay behind. She tells Allegra to go to the party and then play it by ear and find a way to drive a wedge between Bella and Nikau, since they can’t risk Bella stopping Nikau going to Japan. Allegra doesn’t look happy but doesn’t object. Sienna then tells Nikau they need some solo shots of him. At Salt, Ryder congratulates Bella on the set-up as she takes a photo of him, saying he’s proud of her. He heads out to the food truck. Emmett tells Bella to put her phone away so they can enjoy the event and circulate. Allegra takes the phone from Bella’s bag and looks up Nikau’s contact details.

Sienna and Nikau arrive at a city apartment. Nikau is impressed with the view and Sienna says he’ll be able to afford one like it soon. She has some clothes samples in his size and also offers to show him the itinerary. Nikau says he needs to get to the exhibition; Sienna has supposedly arranged a limousine to take him there. Nikau gets a text, supposedly from Bella, saying there’s no rush because the exhibition’s been delayed. Sienna says that often happens so now he can look at the itinerary, adding that he’ll love what she’s got planned for them.
