In 1995, Lesley became involved in the pre-production of Water Rats as a researcher for the first two seasons, and then became a story consultant and storyliner thereafter. From here, she moved to the script department of Murder Call and completed an in-house script editor traineeship. She became a script editor for the series for two years, before moving back to Water Rats as a script editor until 2000.

She was also involved in the development of the Seven Network series, All Saints in 1998 as the medical researcher. After leaving Water Rats, she joined the in-house script department and became a script editor and writer.

After leaving All Saints, Lesley spent a number of years working in various roles including supervising script editor on Headland, as well as a writer for Home and Away. In 2007, she became the associate script producer under Alexa Wyatt on the final season of McLeod’s Daughters. After the conclusion of the series, she became a story editor for Out of the Blue, and subsequent to its cancellation, she began freelancing on Neighbours and Cops LAC.

In January 2011, Lesley joined the in-house script department of Home and Away as the associate story producer, under the story producer, Sarah Walker. She worked on the plotting of several storylines, such as the Sasha‘s murder charges, Brax‘s illegal fighting and the Casey/Henri romance. She left the role in December 2011, with her final episodes airing in August 2012.

After going freelance, Lesley was involved in development of the Fremantle Media series, Wonderland, before joining Neighbours in mid 2012 as Jason Herbison‘s second in charge.
