Home and Away Spoilers – Tane’s heartbreaking move as he wakes up

Next week on Home and Away in the UK, Tane has an awkward reunion with Jo, while Sonny feels like he’s in the way at home.

Tane’s (Ethan Browne) condition improves enough for him to be woken from his induced coma next week, but it soon brings unexpected heartache for girlfriend Jo (Maddison Brown).

After his innocence was finally proven, Tane was looking forward to heading home to Archie and the people who’d fought to clear his name.

Instead, his release was held up while the authorities dealt with the consequences of him skipping bail and fleeing to Western Australia.

That delay proved disastrous. When Knox (James O’Connell) and some fellow inmates cornered Prison Officer Peterson (Cameron Jones), Tane stepped in to help, only to be tasered by one of the group.

Once he was on the ground, the attack continued, leaving him with serious injuries.

After being rushed to hospital, his condition worsened as his oxygen levels dropped and he needed to be intubated.

Levi (Tristan Gorey) and Jo faced a further crisis when his kidney function began to decline, raising fears that his organs could start shutting down.

Next week, there’s finally a small sign of progress. At the farmhouse, Mackenzie (Emily Weir) presses Levi for an update and learns that Tane’s kidney function has improved, while Levi’s earlier concerns about other organs failing haven’t come to pass.

If the next pathology results are encouraging, they can look at reducing Tane’s sedation and testing whether he can breathe without the ventilator.

evi warns Mac not to get ahead of herself, but admits Tane has fought hard to reach this point and deserves some hope.

Later, Jo is outside the surf club with David (Jeremy Lindsay Taylor) when Mac arrives with big news. She’s just has a call from Levi, who’s confirmed that Tane’s sedation is being wound back.

David immediately gets them moving, taking Jo and Mac to the hospital in his police car—with lights and siren.

At the hospital, Levi explains that Tane’s kidney function is finally starting to return to normal, so the next step is to test his breathing. If he can’t manage, he’ll go back on the machine, but there’s now a chance that he could wake with minimal complications.

Jo and Mac wait anxiously as the process begins, and Jo admits she has been thinking about what she wants to say when Tane first wakes.

Before the attack, Jo’s visit to Tane in prison had left her shaken by what their relationship might become, and she admitted she wasn’t sure she’d cope if their future meant years of visiting him behind bars.

When Tane begins to stir, his first thought is Archie. Mac reassures him that his son’s with Harper (Jessica Redmayne) and safe.

David then brings the update Tane needs to hear. Kerrie Matheson (Sara Wiseman) has pleaded guilty to all charges, Peterson has made a full recovery, and Tane is finally a free man!

David also apologises, admitting that nothing he says can make what happened right, but that he wishes he’d done more sooner.

When he’s later ready for visitors, Jo lets Mac go back in first, acknowledging that Tane deserves a less complicated visitor before their own conversation.

Mac uses her time with Tane to follow through on the promise she made while he was unconscious. She tells him that she and Levi have discussed the future, and asks him to be their baby’s godfather.

Tane’s overwhelmed, but accepts.

Jo’s visit is much harder. When she goes in, Tane’s confused by her presence, reminding her that the last time they spoke, she wasn’t sure if she wanted to see him again.

Jo tries to explain that she was scared and needed time, but Tane’s hurt by what happened. As far as he’s concerned, he was in the worst place he could be, and she gave up.

Jo insists that isn’t what happened and apologises, but Tane’s already made his decision.

How about I make this easy for you?” he tells her. “You weren’t sure, well now I am. I don’t want to be with you.

Elsewhere in Summer Bay, Sonny’s (Ryan Bown) spent the months since the train crash adjusting to life in a wheelchair, but his recovery has recently taken a step forward.

After weeks of physio, he surprised Dana (Ally Harris), Eden (Stephanie Panozzo) and John (Shane Withington) in succession by showing them that he was now able to stand and walk a short distance.

Next week, Sonny returns from another physio session to Eden and Cash’s (Nicholas Cartwright) place, tired but encouraged after managing to get in and out of the pool by himself.

Back at the house though, things are getting harder for him to navigate.

Eden and Remi (Adam Rowland) are deep into their music again, and the living room is now full of equipment. Eden quickly apologises and clears a path for Sonny’s wheelchair, while Sonny takes the situation in good humour.

Remi soon returns from a motorcycle ride with a renewed energy for his songwriting, even if he hasn’t managed to recover the idea he’d come up with for the song he and Eden are working on.

Once Remi and Eden start working again, it’s clear they’yre completely absorbed—when Sonny tries to ask about lunch, they barely register what he’s saying.

He heads to the surf club instead, where he crosses paths with Alf (Ray Meagher).

Alf’s heard about Sonny making it up to Salt and calls it a gutsy effort. Sonny points out that it wasn’t something he managed alone, as he’s had plenty of good friends helping him along the way, but Alf reminds him that he was still the one who had to push himself.

The conversation gives Sonny a chance to admit how difficult things have been. He spent a lot of time getting in his own way, but eventually accepted that it’s okay to ask for help. Now, with more of his independence coming back, he’s starting to feel the difference.

Sonny also admits that Eden and Remi haven’t exactly kicked him out, but he can read the room. With the pair back in their own creative bubble, he’s feeling like the third wheel again—something he remembers from their school days.

When Sonny returns home, the issue comes up again. Remi is keen for him to hear the new song, but the cluttered house prompts Eden to point out that the setup isn’t ideal for Cash or Sonny. Sonny insists that he doesn’t mind, but the conversation gets him thinking.

When Eden and Remi discuss going back to the recording studio, Sonny suggests that perhaps he should move out and free up space for them to work. Eden immediately shuts the idea down, insisting that he’s staying, with Remi backing her up.

Sonny, however, is already thinking a step ahead.

The following day, he finally raises the idea properly with Dana. His physio has suggested that he may soon be able to move from the wheelchair to forearm crutches, and after enjoying spending some time with both Dana and Harper the previous night, Sonny feels ready to come home.

Dana wants that too, but she’s realistic about the stairs. Making it up to Salt was a huge achievement, but it also wiped Sonny out for days afterwards.

Until he can get up to the apartment safely, she thinks he needs to stay where he is for a little longer.

Sonny appears to accept this, but as soon as Dana leaves, he calls Justin (James Stewart) and asks for a favour.

Later, Dana arrives back at the apartment and is stunned to find Sonny already sitting on the sofa. He jokes that he used his legs to get there, and insists he’s fine—he’s right where he belongs.

Once Dana gets over the shock of finding him there, she questions how Sonny made it upstairs and got his things into the apartment. Sonny admits Justin was his “other guardian angel”, but argues that he still did what Dana asked and made it up the stairs.

But Dana remains concerned. If using the stairs is going to leave him exhausted, it could get in the way of his recovery.

Sonny’s more focused on enjoying the moment, but when Harper comes home and finds him there, he becomes more cautious. Harper’s thrilled to see him back and agrees that he can move in again, but Sonny later asks Dana to double check that she really means it.

He wants to come home, but not if Harper’s only saying yes because she feels sorry for him. His needs as a housemate are different now, and he doesn’t want to be in anyone’s way.

Harper appears happy to have him back, leaving Sonny with the answer he wanted.

But with Dana already worried about the strain he’s putting himself under, has Sonny proved that he’s ready to move home—or is he pushing himself too soon?
