Episode 79

When Vicki returns home, she places Cameron’s suitcase onto the bed in the spare room.

Vicki: This is where you’ll be sleeping.

Cameron: *holds up a flashcard* Can I sleep in on the weekends?

Vicki: Of course. But you must go to school tomorrow.

Cameron: *holds up another flashcard* I want to meet people my age. I want to make new friends.

Vicki: I know you do, but I’m worried.

Cameron: *writes down something and then shows it to Vicki* Worried about what?

Vicki: You see, Civic isn’t like Liverpool. It’s in the middle of the city and it gets quite dangerous at night. I know you enjoy your freedom, but being in the city by yourself can be dangerous.

Cameron: *holds up a flashcard* I see what you mean.

Vicki: And on Saturday, I have to go to my friend’s wedding. Would you like to come or should I find someone to stay with you?

Cameron: *holds up a flashcard* I want someone to keep me company.

Vicki: Okay. Make yourself at home. I’ve got to make a phone call. *goes into the living room and dials the number for the Varu household* Hi Riggot, is Mareta there? I need to speak to her. Sure. Hi Mareta. How are you? I’m fine. Listen, I need a favour. Would you mind looking after my friend Cameron for me while I go to Jenny and Brock’s wedding on Saturday? Oh I see. *pauses for a minute* Are you sure you can do both jobs? I must warn you that he’s deaf and talks via flashcards. Sure. I’ll bring him over to Rachael’s on Saturday. Thanks for that Mareta. Bye. *hangs up the phone*

*Cameron enters the living room*

Cameron: *holds up a flashcard* Who was that on the phone?

Vicki: That was my friend Mareta. She’s going to be looking after you on Saturday.

Cameron: *holds up a flashcard* That’s good.

Vicki: You are just lucky to have a great mother like Suzie.

*Cameron smiles at her*

Cameron: *holds up a flashcard* Was your mother mean?

Vicki: No. But my father was. It’s a long story though.

That night, Rachael and Tina are talking about the upcoming wedding.

Tina: I just can’t believe we’re bridesmaids sis.

Rachael: I’m just so excited that we’ll be getting our hair and make-up done. I want to look really nice.

Tina: But then, after the wedding, I’m moving to Warilla. *pulls a sad face*

Rachael: I know. I’m SO going to cry when you and Isaiah leave.

Tina: I’ll still come and visit you. I just hope you do the same.

Rachael: Don’t worry darling. I will.

*they hug*

Tina: We still haven’t got our bridesmaid dresses yet.

Rachael: They’re at Jenny and Brock’s house. We can’t wear them until Saturday.

Tina: That’s a pity. I wanted to look good.

*they hear Isaiah crying in the distance*

Tina: I suppose I should get that. *runs upstairs*

*Just as Rachael sits down on the couch, the phone rings*

Rachael: Hello? Oh, hi Mareta. You still up for Saturday? Good. That’s fine. I’m sure you’ll get along with him. Thanks for that. You enjoy your night. Bye. *hangs up the phone*

*Tina comes back downstairs*

Tina: Who was that?

Rachael: That was Mareta.

Tina: Did she cancel out on me?

Rachael: No. But she is looking after Vicki’s friend’s son who happens to be deaf.

Tina: Oh okay.

Rachael: You don’t mind that, do you?

Tina: Of course I don’t mind. Remember Mish Howard?

Rachael: Do I ever? Michelle Howard was popular at Civic High. At least she put people like Cameron up on a pedestal.

Tina: I wonder if the others know her.

Rachael: I think Lowana and Sylvia do. She was a year below them.

Tina: I’ll have to ask her tomorrow.

Rachael: I must admit, I still haven’t found a date for the wedding.

Tina: Who needs a date when we’re bridesmaids.

Rachael: I just want to be with a guy.

Tina: Your time will come soon. Just complete TAFE and then think about guys.

*both girls then laugh*

The next morning (Friday), Alison is waiting for the bus when she hears people arguing. It’s Leon and Tyson.

Leon: I TRIED TO APOLOGISE TO YOU MAN, BUT YOU JUST PUNCHED ME IN THE NOSE!!!

Tyson: DID IT EVER OCCUR TO YOU THAT YOU DESERVED IT?!?

Leon: MAKING PEACE WITH YOU IS LIKE A DENTIST PULLING TEETH!!

*Alison has heard enough and runs over to them*

Alison: I can hear you guys arguing from the bus stop. Can you keep it down a bit?

Leon/Tyson: NO!

Alison: That’s it! I’ve had enough of this arguing and punching each other out business! You are acting like a bunch of Year 1 kids!

*Just then, the bus comes*

Alison: We’ll talk this arvo. *walks over to the bus and gets on it*

*Leon and Tyson just stare at the bus as Jessica and Alex walks over to them*

Jessica: What was that about?

Leon: Don’t worry. *walks off*

Tyson: I’ll tell you later. *walks off as well*

Alex: I think Ali just told them off for fighting.

Jessica: Are they STILL fighting? I thought this business with Hayley was settled.

Alex: It’s more than that now.

Jessica: How?

Alex: I think those two are trying to be the best at everything.

Jessica: Rivalry between friends aye?

Alex: I just don’t get it. The boys and I have to spend recess with Leon and lunch with Tyson and vice versa the next day.

Jessica: That’s real sad. *frowns*

Alex: I know.

Meanwhile, Lowana is waiting for Natalie to arrive at the school. She is going to confront her about the mystery phone calls.

*Natalie walks over to the school and sees Lowana*

Natalie: Low! What are you doing here darling?

Lowana: I just wanted to see how my new best friend is going. *hugs her*

Natalie: That just made my day! You must be happy!

Lowana: I’m happy AND a little curious.

Natalie: Curious?

Lowana: Wouldn’t you be? I mean we’re friends and they always say friends are loyal to one another. Or maybe they really aren’t your friend and just making malicious phone calls to you. There’s a very good explanation for why they would do that, isn’t there?

*Natalie looks down at the ground*

Natalie: Uh…yes.

Lowana: How DARE you! *slaps Natalie so hard that she falls onto the footpath* After all I did for you, this is how you repay me?!?

Natalie: I’m sorry. Ella was jealous and I just wanted to shut her up, but she…

Lowana: I DON’T want to hear it! I should’ve ruined Leon and Hayley’s relationship on my own! People are right about you Natalie. You’re a conceited, mean-spirited BITCH! No wonder nobody likes you! I may not be perfect, but you define the word “bogan trash”. Bye Natalie. Thanks for the faux friendship! *walks off*

*Natalie is left crying on the ground. Ella approaches her*

Ella: What’s wrong darling?

Natalie: *sobbing* Lowana hates me now! Someone tipped her off about my prank phone calls!

Ella: Oh! *hugs Natalie*

Natalie: If I ever find out who did this, their life won’t be worth living!

Ella: I know who did it! It was Derelict Donna!

Natalie: Are you sure?

Ella: Positive! I heard her boasting about it to Julie Jones!

Natalie: Bitch! *wipes away her tears* I’ll make sure that her days at Civic High are over, starting from next term!

Later that afternoon, Alexis is walking to Central train station with Madison, Debbie and Sumara. She is catching the train to Wyong to attend a party being hosted by her new friend, Stacey Marshall.

Alexis: Now girls, I’m going to this party. It starts at 6:30pm and it will probably end around 1:00am. Maybe 2:00am.

Sumara: How are you getting home? The last train comes at midnight.

Alexis: I’ll be getting a lift with Stacey. I should be back around 3:30am-4:00am.

Debbie: I wish I came, but no I have to visit the relatives!

Alexis: Family comes first, my dear! Don’t worry, I’ll be back for our concert tomorrow night.

Madison: Mum doesn’t suspect a thing. I just told her that you would be spending the night at my place.

Sumara: I must say Alexis, you have a bigger social life than Queen Elizabeth! I’m so jealous!

Alexis: Don’t be. We’ll do something together soon. I promise.

*the train station DVA goes off*

V/O: The next train to arrive on Platform 6 goes to Newcastle via the Central Coast. First stop, Strathfield, then all stations to Hornsby, then Berowra, Cowan, Woy Woy, Point Clare, Gosford, Narara, Lisarow, then all stations to Wyong, then all stations to Morisset, Dora Creek, Awaba, Fassifern, Teralba, Cardiff…and then all stations to Newcastle.

Debbie: The train’s coming soon.

Madison: I’m sure lover boy will miss you.

Alexis: *laughing* Shut up. Riggot’s staying over at his cousin’s house for the weekend.

Madison: Coolies!

*the train arrives*

Sumara: Here comes the train.

Alexis: I’ll see you all tomorrow. *hugs the girls*

Debbie: Have fun!

*Alexis gets on the train*

Alexis: I will. Bye! *waves at them as the train closes its doors*

*the train then drives off*

Madison: Any plans tonight girls?

Debbie: I’m off to see the relatives.

Sumara: I’m going to the movies with Hayley and Catherine. Want to come Maddie?

Madison: I can’t. I have to keep knit in case Mum finds out that Alexis isn’t staying over.

Sumara: I see.

Madison: I’ll see if I can make it. I’ll just have to make another excuse. *smirks*

Meanwhile, Alison is trying to get Leon and Tyson to make peace.

Alison: Come on guys! Just make up!

Leon/Tyson: NO!

*the phone rings*

Alison: I’ll answer that in Amy’s room. When I come back down, I expect a change in your attitude. *walks upstairs to answer the phone*

Leon: Let’s leave.

Tyson: Yeah. Hey, listen. I’m sorry about everything.

Leon: I’m sorry as well. Friends again?

Tyson: Yeah. *they shake hands*

Leon: Let’s play a trick on Ali. We’ll make her think we’re still fighting.

Tyson: That sounds great. *checks upstairs to see if Alison is coming down* YOU ARE A PIG!!!!

Leon: ME?!? I’M A PIG?!? GET NICKED!!! THE ONLY PIG AROUND HERE IS YOU?!?

Tyson: OINK! OINK! OINK!

Leon: I’LL GIVE YOU “OINK! OINK!” IN A MINUTE YOU IDIOT!

*they try hard not to laugh*

Tyson: MAKE ME!!!

*Alison races downstairs*

Alison: Still fighting are we? I see! Well, in that case you can both see me on Monday after I finish TAFE.

*Tyson and Leon burst into laughter*

Alison: I don’t see anything funny!

Leon: We played a trick on you. While you were upstairs, me and Tyson here decided to make peace.

Tyson: We pretended to yell at each other so you would come downstairs.

*Alison laughs*

Alison: So, you decided to play a joke. That was quite funny! *laughs*

*All three then soon burst into laughter*

That night, Alexis gets off the train at Wyong and meets up with Stacey Marshall.

Alexis: STACEY!!!!

Stacey: ALEXIS!!!! *runs over to Alexis and hugs her* I love that dress. Gold really suits you

Alexis: Thanks beautiful!

Stacey: But how did you get changed if you had just come out of school?

Alexis: There’s a thing call the girls bathroom. I got changed in there just before the bell rang. Anyway, I love the dress you’re wearing. It’s really nice.

Stacey: Thank you. So, shall we get going?

Alexis: Where’s the ride?

Stacey: Jamie is taking us.

Alexis: Who’s Jamie?

Stacey: That’s my boyfriend.

*they go over to Jamie’s car*

Alexis: Let me meet this enchanting boyfriend of yours.

*Jamie gets out of the car*

Jamie: Well, if it isn’t Alexis! How have you been?

Alexis: *coldly* I’m doing well, Jamie Evans.

Stacey: You guys know each other?

Jamie: Alexis and I used to go out together last year.

Alexis: Till he decided to meet other people. But, it’s all good. I don’t hold grudges.

Jamie: Are you kidding? You practically didn’t talk to me again after we broke up.

Alexis: Well I felt uncomfortable. Because I didn’t think you wanted to be friends with me anymore.

Stacey: Guys! Let’s not fight.

Jamie: What made you think that?

Alexis: Sarah Hill told me that you only went out with me as a joke when in actual fact you hated me. So, that’s why I never spoke to you again.

Jamie: She’s such a liar. Always has been. At least you don’t have to put up with Todd anymore.

Alexis: Really? He goes to Civic High now! He started when the new school year started.

Jamie: Do you like it at Civic High?

Alexis: Yeah I do. I’ve made some wonderful friends. I even managed to get myself a new boyfriend.

Stacey: Riggot?

Alexis: Uh-huh!

Jamie: I always knew you would take Civic High by storm.

Alexis: Can we go to this party?

Stacey: Definitely!

*Alexis gets in the back seat of Jamie’s car*

Stacey: Party on losers!

*the car drives off at speed*

Back in Civic, Madison is at her house getting ready to go to the movies with Sumara and the girls.

Mrs Williams: Madison!

Madison: What is it Mum?

Mrs Williams: What time does the movie finish?

Madison: The movie starts at 8:30, so I suppose around 10-ish. But we’re going to Harleys afterwards, so Alexis and I should be back around 11:30.

Mrs Williams: Just be careful.

Madison: Sure Mum. I’m in good hands. See you when I come back. *leaves the house*

*At the cinema, Madison and the girls are watching Mark II*

Catherine: How they decided to re-run this wonderful movie I will never know.

Madison: It’s a good thing we’re seeing it now.

*A man in the front row glares at them*

Man: SHUSH!

Madison: You shush!

Man: Don’t get smart with me young lady.

Madison: Pig!

Sumara: Maddie, stop! *to the man* Sorry.

Hayley: Just watch the movie!

*About halfway through the film, Madison and Catherine throw popcorn at the man*

Man: *hissing* Would you girls stop it?!?

*Madison chucks her entire basket of popcorn on the man’s head. As a result, the man storms out.*

Catherine: We made him leave.

Madison: Shame!

*An usher approaches them*

Usher: If you girls continue to disrupt the people watching this film, I’ll have to ask you to leave.

Madison: You can’t throw us out, WE PAID!

Sumara: Oh god! *holds her head in embarrassment*

Usher: That’s it. Leave.

Madison: Ah, go stick it!

Hayley: I’m really sorry about this sir.

Usher: You girls can stay. *to Madison and Catherine* As for you two, I said leave!

Madison: Don’t worry. We’re going. *to Sumara and Hayley* I’ll see you at Harleys. Come on Catherine.

*they leave the cinema*

Sumara: That was embarrassing.

Hayley: I’m so ashamed. Let’s finish watching this film.

On the Central Coast, Alexis is at Stacey’s party which is being held at an under-18s nightclub at The Entrance.

*The techno music is blaring loudly as everyone is dancing, drinking and talking*

Alexis: *to Stacey* This is a great nightclub! I think this is the only one where I don’t have to show a fake I.D.

Stacey: Like totally! You like our coastal suburbia, city girl? *smiles*

Alexis: Yeah. You should come visit me some time. We’ve got some great venues.

Stacey: I’ve been to Civic before. In fact, I used to live there.

Alexis: REALLY???

Stacey: When I was like a toddler. I moved to Lithgow when I was 4 and went to primary school there until Year 4 when I moved to Wyong.

Alexis: I was born in London. I moved to Australia when I was 8. I went to primary school with Sumara.

Stacey: Which school did you go to?

Alexis: Bexley North.

Stacey: Your accent is so perfect. Normally, people lose their accents on the plane!

Alexis: Years of practice. *smiles*

*Jamie approaches them*

Jamie: Stacey! Let’s dance! *to Alexis* That guy wants to dance with you. *points to a guy sitting near the bar*

Alexis: How do you know?

Jamie: Just dance with him.

*Alexis looks over at the guy who happens to be Riggot*

Alexis: I don’t believe it! Baby! *runs over to Riggot and hugs him*

Riggot: Missed me?

Alexis: I thought you were spending the night at your cousin’s.

Riggot: So did I. But they decided to go to Canberra for the weekend instead.

Alexis: I’m so glad you came.

*they kiss*

Alexis: Oh! I’ve got to introduce you to some friends of mine. *walks over to Stacey and Jamie* This is Stacey Marshall and her boyfriend Jamie Evans.

Riggot: Sup!

Jamie: Nice to meet you bro! *shakes Riggot’s hand*

Stacey: Lexi has told us SO much about you.

Riggot: I hope it’s good stuff.

Stacey: Of course. *smiles*

Jamie: I used to go out with Alexis. Back in the day.

Riggot: Did you?

Alexis: Back in Year 7, we did. I’m happy being with you though.

Riggot: Thanks. *they kiss*

Stacey: Enjoy yourselves. Socialise with the others or dance. We’ve got to dance now. See you soon. *walks off with Jamie*

Alexis: Shall we dance?

Riggot: Yeah.

*they go off and dance with the other partygoers*

Meanwhile, Mrs Williams is watching the late night movie on Channel 9 when Madison returns home.

Madison: Hi Mum. I’m back.

Mrs Williams: Hi sweetie. Where’s Alexis?

Madison: She’s just talking to Catherine. She’ll be in soon.

Mrs Williams: Okay. Just tell her to come in before midnight. I’m going to bed.

Madison: Okay. Good night. *waits for her mother to close the bedroom door* Good timing.

*Madison then goes into her room and reads a magazine*

Madison: *to herself* Oh! I didn’t know that Kate Ceberano was having a concert tomorrow night.

At 4:00am, Alexis and Riggot arrive back to Civic with Stacey and Jamie.

Alexis: Thanks for the invite. Me and Riggz had a great time.

Stacey: No problem. I’ll come visit sometime.

Riggot: It was nice meeting you both. *shakes both Jamie and Stacey’s hands*

Jamie: Likewise. Take care brother. You too Alexis.

Alexis: Bye.

Riggot: Will you be right driving back?

Stacey: Yeah. We’re spending the night at his sister’s place in Miller.

Alexis: Drive safely. Good night.

Riggot: Night guys.

*Jamie and Stacey drive off*

Alexis: I AM beat! How did you get here anyway?

Riggot: I took the train at 5:00pm.

Alexis: I had such a great time with you.

Riggot: So do I. *they hug* Let’s do it again next weekend.

*They sneak into Madison’s bedroom window.*

Madison: Thank god. You’re back.

Alexis: I’m beat. Let’s just go to sleep. *to Riggot* See you late baby. *kisses him*

Riggot: Bye. *escapes out the window*

Madison: Come on. Let’s get some sleep.

*Suddenly, Alexis faints*

Madison: Lexi! OMG! *Puts her on the bed and checks her breath* I’ll get a cloth for you! *runs out of the room as a pale Alexis lays on the bed*

Episode 80

It’s 5:15 on Saturday morning and Alexis is on Madison’s bed feeling the after effects of Stacey’s party.

Madison: Here. *gives Alexis some water*

*Alexis wakes up slowly*

Alexis: Uhh…I think I’m going to be sick. I need a bucket quick!

*Madison passes a bucket to Alexis who vomits in it*

Madison: How many drinks did you have?

Alexis: Let’s see. I had two glasses of wine, two shots of brandy, four cruisers and some cocktail.

Madison: No wonder you’re sick.

Alexis: My head feels like it wants to explode. I didn’t know hangovers were THIS bad!

Madison: Too many alcohol mixed into your system.

Alexis: I just hope that I’ll be all right for tonight’s Kate Ceberano concert with Debbie.

Madison: You’re so lucky to go see her. She’s my favourite singer!

Alexis: I’ll ask her for an autograph. Hold that thought. *grabs the bucket and vomits again* I need to rest. Wake me up when Mum starts bitching that I’m not home.

Madison: I will. *smiles weakly*

Later that morning, Vicki is fixing her hair and putting on her lipstick when the doorbell rings. She races to the door to find Suzie Llewellyn standing there.

Suzie: Hi Vicki.

Vicki: Suzie. You’re looking fantastic. *hugs her*

Suzie: Is Cameron home?

Vicki: Actually, you just missed him. He’s gone over to meet one of my friends.

Suzie: He went on his on?

Vicki: No, I drove him down. I’m going to pick him up later on.

Suzie: Are you going out?

Vicki: Yeah. I’m going to my friend’s cousin’s wedding. It’s this afternoon. I’m going with my boyfriend.

Suzie: Who’s the lucky man?

Vicki: His name is Tevita and he is simply adorable.

Suzie: I just hope it will lead to M-A-R-R-I-A-G-E.

Vicki: We’re not rushing into things here.

Suzie: Let Cam know that I came. I’ll pick him up on Thursday. See you later darling. *walks out*

Vicki: Bye.

*Just as Vicki closes the door, the phone rings*

Vicki: Hello. Oh, hi Ali. I’m just getting ready for this arvo. How’s the dress fitting going? Do you want me to come over? Are you sure? Okay. I’ll see you at 2. Bye. *hangs up*

*Vicki then looks in the mirror*

Vicki: Now my lipstick is all smeared!

At midday, Rachael, Tina, Alison and Jenny are getting their hair done at Nina’s salon.

Rachael: I want a pink flower in my hair Nina.

Nina: Certainly. Want one as well Tina?

Tina: Yes please.

Alison: I can’t believe I’m straightening my hair. I haven’t straightened my hair in ages.

Jenny: You look fantastic. I’m so mad that the dress fitting took longer than expected.

Alison: Don’t worry about it. Everything will be fine.

*Dina enters the salon*

Dina: Hey girls. You all look beautiful.

Jenny: So do you Dina.

Dina: This dress makes me look fat.

Nina: Well, you are a heavily pregnant woman my dear sister.

Dina: *smiles* Shut up Nina.

*Sylvia enters the salon*

Sylvia: Hey girls. Sorry I’m late. I was at Kristen Harwell’s place.

Jenny: Don’t apologise. It’s okay.

*Amy enters the salon*

Amy: Bad news Jen. Rosemary’s not coming to the wedding.

Jenny: WHAT?!?!

Amy: Apparently, she corked her thigh at work and when she tried walking this morning, she was in excruciating pain.

Jenny: Typical! She doesn’t want to come because she knows she won’t be the centre of attention.

Alison: Tell her to suck it up!

Dina: Gee, anyone would think she committed murder the way you two are carrying on.

Alison: Trust me Dina, you don’t want to know her.

Jenny: She’s a pain in the backside.

Alison: Is Danny still coming?

Amy: Yes he is.

Jenny: That’d be right! Dopey cow can’t even get her excuses correct!

Alison: She’s missing out.

Nina: Okay ladies. Now, it’s time for a manicure!

*the ladies go and have their manicure*

Meanwhile, Alexis has returned home. She is having a shower when Claire screams at her from downstairs.

Claire: ALEXIS MARIE THORPE!

Alexis: In the shower.

Claire: GET OUT NOW! WE NEED TO HAVE A TALK!

*Alexis turns off the shower, dries herself and heads downstairs to find her mother sitting on the lounge*

Claire: Sit!

*Alexis sits down*

Alexis: Yeah?

Claire: What’s this I hear about you going to a party on the Central Coast last night?

Alexis: I don’t know what you’re talking about. I was with Madison the whole night.

Claire: Then why did I get a phone call from Riggot’s mother saying that you and him went to a party with some friends you made when you go on your late-night shopping trips!

Alexis: We had a great time.

Claire: Where was this party at?

Alexis: Wyong.

Claire: Where?

Alexis: Is this like a bloody game of 20 questions?

Claire: IF YOU WENT TO A BLOODY NIGHTCLUB, YOU ARE IN SERIOUS TROUBLE YOUNG LADY!!!

Alexis: The party was at Stacey’s place.

Claire: Why do I not believe you?

Alexis: Mum, I’m nearly 14. I can make my own decisions.

Claire: WRONG! You are still a minor. And as long as you’re living here, you’ll do as your bloody told!

Alexis: Really? Maybe you just can’t stand the fact that I have a great social life, whereas you like to sell yourself for a living!

*Claire slaps Alexis*

Claire: Don’t you EVER talk to me like that again! Next time, I’ll ground you!

*Alexis storms upstairs and slams her bedroom door so hard that photos hanging on the wall fall down*

Claire: BLOODY HELL, ALEXIS!!!

*In her bedroom, Alexis is getting her outfit ready for the Kate Ceberano concert when she turns on the radio. Some techno music plays.*

Alexis: I’m so going to look good in this outfit. *she holds out a grey and black striped dress and black leggings*

*Suddenly, her bedroom door starts knocking*

Alexis: GET LOST MUM! I’M ANGRY AT YOU!

Riggot: It’s me sunshine!

Alexis: Come in baby!

*Riggot enters Alexis’s room*

Riggot: Sorry I got you into trouble. Mum practically forced it out of me.

Alexis: Don’t worry about it.

Riggot: What time is the concert?

Alexis: Debbie and I have enter the doors at 7pm and get our seats by that time. The concert starts at 8:30pm and finishes at 11pm. What are your plans for the evening?

Riggot: I’m going to the movies with Tyson and Leon.

Alexis: What are you watching?

Riggot: Mark II.

Alexis: Maddie and the girls seen that last night. They loved it.

Riggot: Nice.

Alexis: Would you help me get ready? *smiles*

Riggot: Sure.

*Riggot closes Alexis’s bedroom door shut*

At 2 o’clock, Alison and the others all head down to Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Watson’s Bay to watch the wedding.

Alison: I’m really nervous.

Rachael: Don’t be. I’m sure everything will go to plan

Tina: Jenny and Brock were made for each other.

Alison: I always get nervous at weddings. The last wedding I went to was a complete disaster.

Rachael: What happened?

Alison: Penelope Pedersen’s sister Sandra was supposed to get married, but the guy she was supposed to marry stood her up. Apparently, he called the caterer and cancelled the reception dinner. The caterer broke the news to Sandra in a mean way by ripping the groom off the top of the wedding cake. When I left, poor Sandra was crying into her bourbon.

Tina: Poor thing. What ever became of her?

Alison: Last I heard, she was working at a youth centre in Marsden.

*The car stops near the church*

Alison: Let’s get out.

*the ladies get out of the car*

Vicki: Hello. You all look very beautiful.

Tina: Thanks.

Rachael: Where’s Tevita?

Vicki: He’s on his way. *smiles*

Alison: I like that dress Vicki. Where did you get that?

Vicki: I bought it at Oz Fashions a while ago. When I seen it, I just HAD to buy it.

Alison: And it looks good on you too.

*Tevita arrives*

Tevita: My beautiful girlfriend. *kisses Vicki on the cheek*

Vicki: My gorgeous boyfriend.

*Alison, Tina and Rachael all blush*

Tevita: Hey girls. Has the bride arrived yet?

Alison: She should be here in like 2 minutes.

*Suddenly, a white limousine approaches the church. The door opens and Jenny comes out wearing her wedding dress*

Tina: You look beautiful Jen.

Jenny: Thanks Tina. I’m so excited!

Rachael: Shall we head into the church?

Vicki: Yes. Sylvia, Kat and Melissa are waiting for us.

Alison: We’ll see you in there Jenny.

Jenny: Okay.

*they walk into the church*

Meanwhile, Carina is at the mall looking at a hairbrush when someone purposefully bumps into her.

Carina: Are you right?

*The person turns around. It’s Natalie*

Natalie: Oh, did I bump into you? I’m really sorry Little Miss Dopey!

Carina: You should be more careful.

Natalie: I’m glad I ran into you Carina. Because I want you to deliver a message to Derelict Donna.

Carina: I’m listening.

Natalie: You tell that no-good snitch that she better watch her back! Because, I can turn people against her…*clicks her fingers* like that!

Carina: You know what Natalie? People don’t like you!

Natalie: Is that so?

Carina: Yeah. You’re nothing but a petty, mean bitch! See you at school in two weeks! Bye!

*Natalie gives Carina a filthy stare*

Natalie: You’ll keep! I can promise you that!

*Carina ignores Natalie’s comment and just walks away. As she does, she sees Hayley and Leon coming out of Time Zone*

Carina: Oh hey guys!

Hayley: Hi Carina.

Leon: How are you?

Carina: I was in a good mood until a cow named Natalie bumped into me. I really dislike her!

Leon: I second that.

Hayley: Me too!

Carina: You know what Natalie said about Donna? She told me to tell to Donna that she better watch her back.

Hayley: You’re joking! Don’t worry about her. She’s nothing but trouble.

Carina: There’s something else that’s concerning me about Donna.

Leon: What’s that?

Carina: In the past few weeks, some of the students have been calling her a “snitch”, “abortionist s**t” and a “friendless loser”.

Leon: That’s bloody disgusting! Who’s been saying that s**t?

Carina: I know Natalie and Ella have numerous times. Todd and some Year 9 girls have as well.

Hayley: That is horrible! If Alexis hears about this…

Carina: She’ll find out soon enough. I better be going anyways. I’m off to see Alex.

Hayley: You take care of yourself okay? *hugs Carina*

Carina: I will. If I don’t see you during the holidays, I’ll see you back at school in a fortnight. *to Leon* Bye Leon.

Leon: Laters. *hugs Carina*

*Carina walks off*

Hayley: We have got to warn Alexis about this.

Leon: Don’t worry babe. We will.

At the church, Lolly is officiating Jenny and Brock’s wedding.

Lolly: Ladies and gentlemen. We are here today to witness the wedding of Jennifer Patterson and Brock Anderson. I will start off by reading a section of the bible about marriage.

*After reading the bible, Lolly then asks Jenny and Brock to say their vows*

Lolly: Jenny, you may say your vows to Brock.

Jenny: I, Jennifer Patterson, take you, Brock Anderson, to be my husband. I promise to be true to you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. I will love you and honour you all the days of my life.

Lolly: Brock?

Brock: I, Brock Anderson, take you, Jennifer Patterson, to be my wife. I promise to be true to you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. I will love you and honour you all the days of my life.

Lolly: I now declare you both husband and wife. May you enjoy a happy life.

*Everyone starts clapping while Jenny and Brock kiss*

Melissa: I think I’m getting teary.

Sylvia: It’s okay. The most important thing is that it went smoothly. *smiles*

*Jenny and Brock walk down the aisle together as several people throw rose petals at them*

That night, Alexis gets ready to go to the Kate Ceberano concert.

Alexis: Now, I’ve got everything. I even “borrowed” some extra money from Mum’s wallet, so I guess we’re all set.

Debbie: Hang on. How are we getting there?

Alexis: I was thinking the bus and train.

Debbie: They don’t stop at the Entertainment Centre.

Alexis: Damn! I didn’t even think of that. Well, it looks like someone’s going to take us.

Debbie: Who? My parents have gone out for the night and your mother’s in bed!

Alexis: I think I know just the person.

*Several minutes later, Alexis and Debbie gets out of a red Ford Laser*

Alexis: Thanks for that Mrs Williams.

Mrs Williams: No problem girls. I’ll pick you both up at 11.

Debbie: Say hi to Madison for me.

Mrs Williams: I will. *drives off*

Alexis: Let’s go inside.

Debbie: Here we come Kate Ceberano! *raises her fist and shakes it*

Alexis: We are going to have so much fun!!!

*they race into the Entertainment Centre*

Meanwhile, Jenny and Brock are having their reception at a function hall in Darlinghurst. Alison is doing the maid of honour speech.

Alison: I would just like to say that Jenny and Brock would make the greatest parents ever. Jenny is currently expecting her first child. I just hope they don’t give birth while they are in the Caribbean for three weeks.

*the guests laugh*

Alison: I’m just glad that my favourite cousin in the world was able to chose me as her maid of honour. Thanks Jen. *goes over to Jenny and hugs her*

Jenny: No problem.

*the guests start applauding. As they do, Rachael takes the microphone*

Rachael: Now, Jenny and Brock are going to do their wedding dance.

*Jenny and Brock get on the dance floor as “Time of My Life” by Jennifer Warnes and Bill Medley plays on the loudspeaker*

Vicki: This is so wonderful.

Tevita: What is?

Vicki: The dancing!

*As Jenny and Brock continue dancing, Alison starts to get teary*

Alison: Oh dear. *wipes away her tears with a serviette*

Tina: It’s okay Alison. Those are tears of happiness.

Alison: You’re right.

*Melissa, Sylvia and Kat approach Alison*

Kat: Everything okay Ali?

Alison: This has been such a lovely wedding. I’m practically in tears now. *wipes away her tears with the serviette*

Sylvia: Oh darling. *hugs Alison*

Melissa: You really need to dance after this.

Alison: I can’t wait to get my groove thing on! *laughs*

*The music stops once Jenny and Brock stop dancing. The guests then applaud them*

At 11:00pm, Alexis and Debbie walk out of the Entertainment Centre singing Kate Ceberano’s song “Love Dimension”

Alexis: When will you give me…

Debbie: A fix of, a fix of…

Alexis: Love and affection!

Debbie: I’m losing my mind!

Alexis: And I’m sick and tired!

Alexis/Debbie: Love is not a premonition!

*they go over to Mrs Williams’ car and get in the back seat*

Alexis: Thanks for picking us up, Mrs W.

Mrs Williams: No worries. Where am I dropping you off at?

Alexis: Debbie’s house. I’m staying the night there.

Debbie: Then tomorrow, we’re going to Taronga Zoo!

Alexis: Yay!

*both girls high five*

Meanwhile, Jenny is about to throw her bouquet to the female guests.

*Alison, Rachael, Tina, Kat, Sylvia, Melissa, Vicki and a few other ladies stand together in a group*

Jenny: Okay. On the count of three. One, two….THREE!!!

*Jenny throws the bouquet and Alison and Vicki both catch it simultaneously!*

Vicki: Looks like we both caught it Ali.

Alison: You can have it. I’ve got enough flowers at my place.

Vicki: Are you sure?

Alison: Positive. *smiles*

Vicki: Thanks. *hugs Alison*

*Tevita walks over to them*

Tevita: Excuse me Ali. I need to talk to Vicki.

Alison: Sure. *walks away*

Vicki: What is it?

Tevita: Come outside.

*Tevita and Vicki go outside*

Tevita: I just want to say that this past month with you has been great.

Vicki: Thanks.

Tevita: I understand that you want to take things slow, but I want to move in with you.

Vicki: Really? Well, it’s just that I’m looking after a friend’s son at the moment and I just don’t know how he’ll cope with you being here.

Tevita: Are you talking about that deaf boy you told me about?

Vicki: Yes.

Tevita: I see.

Vicki: You’re not angry are you?

Tevita: Of course not. I love you.

Vicki: So do I.

*Tevita and Vicki slowly move towards each other and start to kiss*

Tevita: Our first kiss. *smiles*

Vicki: That felt really good.

Tevita: Put your head back.

*Vicki puts her head back and Tevita starts to kiss her neck*

Vicki: That was breathtaking.

*Kat approaches them*

Kat: Sorry to interrupt, but Jenny and Brock are starting to say goodbye to everyone.

Tevita: Thanks for that. Let’s go Vicki.

Vicki: On our way.

*they walk over to the front of the function centre and see Jenny and Brock about to go into the limousine*

Alison: I hope you all have a great time in the Caribbean.

Jenny: Don’t worry. We will.

Brock: We’ll call you every day.

Alison: Oh, I would like that.

Jenny: Thanks for coming to the wedding everyone.

*Jenny and Brock get in the limousine and it starts to drive off*

Guests: Bye newlyweds.

*The limousine drives into the night sky with a piece of cardboard hanging on the car boot saying “Just Married”*

Episode 81

The next morning (Sunday), Alison is looking through the car sales section of the newspaper when Amy comes downstairs.

Amy: Good morning.

Alison: Morning.

Amy: How was the wedding last night?

Alison: It was so great. I was in tears. You should’ve come.

Amy: I know, but my dad was sick so I wanted to see him yesterday to cheer him up. As they say, “family comes first.”

Alison: That’s true.

Amy: How come your reading the car section?

Alison: I’m thinking of buying a car.

Amy: Really? What brought this on?

Alison: I’m starting to get sick of getting on the bus with all those loud school kids, old ladies that gossip and bogans that start swearing when the bus driver tells them off.

Amy: Don’t you think that’s a bit harsh, considering most people we know go to Civic High.

Alison: I’ve got nothing against Alexis and all them. It’s just that I’m tried of the school kids swearing and talking on their mobiles. Last Thursday, this girl got on the bus and started calling the bus driver every swear word in the book all because he asked her to turn her music down. Well, she ended up getting kicked off the bus and I was almost late to TAFE.

Amy: How old was this girl?

Alison: To me, she looked like she was 12 or 13.

Amy: She reminds me of Alexis.

Alison: It wasn’t her though. The girl was wearing a private school uniform.

Amy: Disgraceful. Anyway, what car are you thinking of buying?

Alison: Something small to start me off. Like a Toyota Corolla or a Ford Laser.

Amy: I could take you TAFE in my car. That way we can both go together.

Alison: Thanks for the offer, but I would rather buy my own car. Who knows I might need it to go to uni next year.

Amy: You’re serious about going to uni aren’t you?

Alison: Yes. That’s way I’m re-doing my HSC at TAFE. Can I ask you something?

Amy: Sure. Ask away.

Alison: How come you didn’t do your HSC in Year 12?

Amy: I was bullied because I was the youngest in my class. One day, this girl called me every mean name under the sun and started to push me. I got so angry and I pushed her into a wooden chair. She ended up puncturing her lung and almost died. Rather than get expelled, I just quit. And to this day, I still can’t get over what happened.

Alison: Oh, Amy. *goes over to Amy and hugs her* I’m so sorry about that. I used to be a bitch back in Summer Bay. There was this one time…

*Flashback to when Alison is picking on Roo Stewart*

Alison: Oh Roo! I hear some guy got you up the duff.

Roo: What’s it to you?

Alison: It’s a shame because I thought you would’ve had a lot more tact then being a Carly Morris wannabee.

Roo: Just lay off!

Alison: Why should I? You’d probably be a terrible mother anyway.

Roo: Just leave me alone Alison!

Alison: It’s a good thing you got pregnant. You’d never land a guy like that otherwise!

*Roo storms off*

Back to the present

Alison: So, that’s why I moved to the city. For a fresh start.

Amy: Sounds like you had a bizarre life.

Alison: Trust me. Bizarre is not the only word to describe it. *smiles*

Meanwhile at Rachael’s house, Tina is loading her car with her and Isaiah’s belongings. They are moving to Warilla.

Tina: *to herself* I think that’s about everything.

*Rachael comes outside*

Rachael: Sis. You forgot your charm bracelet.

Tina: I want you to have it.

Rachael: Really?

Tina: I left it there for you as a way of saying thanks for helping me get back on my feet. With James out of the picture, I want to make sure Isaiah has the best life possible.

Rachael: I’m sure he will. I’m going to miss you Tina.

Tina: I’ll miss you too. I don’t know how you put up with me for the past month.

Rachael: We’re family. I know it hasn’t been easy for both us with Dad dying and everything, but I worry about you Tina.

Tina: I know that. Once I get settled in, will you come and visit me?

Rachael: Definitely.

*Isaiah lets out a weak cry*

Tina: I think Isaiah wants to say goodbye to Aunty Rachael.

*Tina hands Isaiah over to Rachael*

Rachael: Goodbye little one. I’ll come visit you soon. *hands Isaiah back to Tina*

Tina: I’ll call you when I get there.

Rachael: Okay.

*Tina gets Isaiah into his baby car seat before hugging Rachael*

Tina: Take care sis.

Rachael: Drive safely. Will you do that for me?

Tina: Of course. See you later.

*Tina gets into her car and starts to pull out of the driveway*

Tina: *calling out* And one more thing, don’t mope around the house because I’m gone.

Rachael: I won’t.

*Tina drives off*

Rachael: *to herself* Back to being on my own again.

*Melissa walks to Rachael’s house*

Melissa: Hi Rachael!

Rachael: Hi Melissa. *sighs*

Melissa: Is something wrong?

Rachael: Tina’s moving to Warilla today. She just left.

Melissa: I see. And I’m guessing you aren’t taking it well.

Rachael: You could say that.

Melissa: Why don’t you come over and have a coffee with me and Dina?

Rachael: Nina not coming?

Melissa: Her and Sylvia are going to the movies.

Rachael: I would like to have a coffee break. It would help me take my mind off my problems.

Melissa: Great. I’ll see you soon. *walks off*

Over at Alexis’s house, she is trying to decide what to wear to go to Taronga Zoo with Debbie.

Alexis: Mum!

Claire: I’m downstairs Alexis! Come down if you want me!

*Alexis goes downstairs with two outfits*

Alexis: I need your help with something.

Claire: Go ahead.

Alexis: What outfit should I wear? *shows Claire a white shirt with blue stripes and dark blue skirt and a short pink dress*

Claire: The blue and white outfit. It’s much more presentable to go to the zoo looking civilized.

Alexis: Are you implying that I’m a bogan Mum?

Claire: Of course not. Besides, you wore that pink dress to your Year 6 formal.

Alexis: Which still fits. I tried it on early this morning.

Claire: Is Riggot going to the zoo with you?

Alexis: No. Just me and Debbie.

Claire: Did you call her to see if it was okay for her to go?

Alexis: I did. Her mother told me she was still asleep.

Claire: I’m going to do the grocery shopping later. Would you like to come?

Alexis: No thanks. I think I’ll just go for a walk. Let me know when Debbie rings.

Claire: I will darling.

Alexis: Thanks. *walks upstairs*

Meanwhile, Carina is in her bedroom applying some lipstick when the doorbell rings.

Carina: I’m coming!

*Carina runs over to the front door and opens it to find Donna standing there.*

Carina: Hey Donna. I’m glad you could come.

Donna: I needed to get out of the house. Mum has been driving me crazy.

Carina: How come?

Donna: She keeps saying that I don’t contribute to the household. I mean, what does doing the dishes and vacuuming the floors count as? Slave labour?

Carina: Parents can be so frustrating.

Donna: Where are your parents?

Carina: Well, I’m still searching for them. It’s quite a long story actually.

Donna: Is that why you ended up living in a homeless shelter since you were 10?

Carina: Yes. But then I moved in with Kat and found it great living here in the city.

Donna: What was it that you wanted to tell me?

Carina: Oh. I was at the mall yesterday and Natalie bumped into me while I was at the chemist. She told me to tell you that she’s going to turn the whole school against you if you don’t watch your back.

Donna: Typical Natalie! It’s bad enough that her and Ella have to call me names during class and have other people taunt me as well! I’m just sick of it!

Carina: Don’t worry. You’re not the only one.

Donna: I’m now actually dreading going back to school.

Carina: I’m sure you’ll be fine. *gives Donna a hug*

At a Holden car dealership in Rosebery, Alison is deciding what car to buy. She has picked a blue Holden Nova and a black Holden Camira.

Car Salesman: Have you thought on what car you want to buy Miss?

Alison: It’s so hard to choose. I want something so I can go to TAFE with and go for long drives to the countryside.

Car Salesman: It’s your choice.

Alison: I think I’ll take the Nova.

Car Salesman: Are you one hundred percent sure on that?

Alison: I’ll take it.

Car Salesman: That’s great. Just come with me and we’ll sign the papers.

*Alison goes with the salesman to sign some forms*

That afternoon, Lowana is on the bus when she sees Leon and Hayley kissing several seats ahead.

*Leon presses the stop button*

Female bus V/O: Next stop selected.

*Leon and Hayley get off their seat and start heading towards the door*

Lowana: *to herself* Don’t blow this Lowana. Don’t blow this.

*Lowana follows them to the door as the bus stops*

Female bus V/O: Doors opening, stand clear please.

*Leon and Hayley get off the bus, with Lowana following them metres behind.*

Lowana: Hey.

*Leon and Hayley turn around*

Leon: Lowana. How are you?

Lowana: Doing well thanks little bro. How about you Hayley?

Hayley: *in a cold tone* I’m doing just fine.

Lowana: I’m glad I ran into you guys because I want to tell you…

Hayley: Just cut the crap Lowana. We know you followed us here. Go ahead! Call me a s**t and a w****! I don’t care anymore.

Lowana: I want to call a truce!

Hayley: What?

Lowana: A truce.

Leon: Lowana, I need you to listen to me. You can make all the truces and apologies you want, but it still doesn’t change the fact that you tried to break me and Hayley up. I want to forgive you, but I just can’t.

Lowana: But I love you bro.

Leon: I love you as well, but it still doesn’t change what you did.

Hayley: He’s right you know.

Leon: Do you think I enjoyed disowning my own sister? Well, I didn’t. I thought it was necessary because our parents were sick of us fighting and for you to stop ruining my relationship with Hayley.

Lowana: I take back everything I said that day you came with Donna. I know it’s not going to be easy, but I want you to give me a chance.

Hayley: I want to, but your name calling towards me really hurt my feelings.

Leon: Mine too. I want to give you a chance to redeem yourself, but you are just going to have to earn my respect back.

*Lowana puts her head down as the tears starts to form*

Hayley: We’re sorry Lowana. That’s the way it’s going to be from now on until we can trust you again.

Lowana: *softly* I’m really sorry.

Leon: I know. *walks away with Hayley*

*Lowana sits down on the metal bench and starts crying softly*

Hayley: Are you okay baby boy?

Leon: It’s the best thing for her. *voice starts cracking with emotion*

*Hayley put her arm around Leon as they walk away*

Meanwhile, Claire is on the phone to Debbie’s mother.

Claire: I’m so sorry to hear that Anne. I can understand what you and Gary are going through at the moment. I’ll let Alexis know as soon as she gets back. Okay. Bye. *hangs up the phone*

*Alexis returns home from her walk via the front door*

Alexis: Hi Mum. I’m just going to put some lipstick on, then I’ll phone Debbie and…

Claire: Alexis.

Alexis: What is it?

Claire: Mrs Morgan just rang. It’s about Debbie.

Alexis: Can’t she come to the zoo?

Claire: No. I’m really sorry, but Debbie died this morning. The tumour she had in her brain burst while she was asleep.

*Alexis looks shocked and sad*

Episode 82

Alexis is in absolute disbelief by the terrible news of Debbie’s death.

Alexis: She’s dead?

*Claire nods her head solemnly*

Claire: There was nothing anyone could do about it. Everyone knew she was sick for a very long time.

*Alexis starts shaking with sadness*

Claire: Shall I call one of your friends to spend some time with you?

Alexis: NO!!!! *runs out of the house*

*Claire sighs to herself*

Over at his house, Riggot is helping Mareta with the dishes.

Riggot: Why are we the ones that get stuck doing the dishes?

Mareta: Because we’re the eldest children still living in the house.

*Riggot wipes a plate with a tea towel*

Riggot: Mum and Dad should do the dishes sometime.

Mareta: Uh, Riggot. They do wash the dishes. You just haven’t noticed because you’re always out with Seru and all the rest of your friends.

Riggot: And you don’t? What about Donna, Carina, Julianna and all that aye?

*Mareta puts one of the dishes into the dish rack*

Mareta: I do far more chores in this house than you do.

Riggot: Really? *throws some soap suds on Mareta’s shirt*

Mareta: Why you cheeky little boy! *throws some soap suds in Riggot’s hair*

Riggot: Doesn’t bother me. *smiles*

Mareta: Come here you!

*Riggot goes over to Mareta and gets kissed on the cheek*

Riggot: Love you too big sis.

*There’s some loud knocking on the front door*

Mareta: I’ll get the door. *walks to the door and as she opens it, Alexis runs inside*

Alexis: *crying* Oh Riggot!

*Riggot runs over to Alexis and hugs her tightly*

Riggot: What’s wrong Lexi?

Alexis: Debbie’s gone! *cries even harder*

Mareta: Oh Alexis! I’m so sorry! *hugs Alexis*

Alexis: I don’t get it. Last night, we were having a great time at the Kate Ceberano concert and now to hear that she’s dead? I just can’t cope anymore!

Mareta: It’s okay. You know I lost a friend once.

Alexis: How?

Mareta: Her name was Kim Stevens. She was in my Year 6 class with Donna and some of the others. Two years ago, her father lost control of his car and crashed into a power pole as they were coming home from Wagga. She was killed on impact, while her dad died a few weeks later. You could imagine what poor Mrs Stevens had to go through during that terrible time.

*Alexis is still sobbing*

Alexis: Debbie was the first person to be my friend when I started Pittwater High. I felt like I was a loner having left Sumara because Mum and I moved to Mona Vale a week before Christmas. *cries again*

*Riggot hugs her even tighter*

Riggot: Let out Lexi. Let it all out.

*Alexis is still crying her head off*

Riggot: I love you Alexis Thorpe. I love you with all my heart.

Alexis: W-what am I going to do without her?

Riggot: You’ve still got us. People that love and care about you.

*Riggot continues to hug Alexis as she cries*

The next morning (Monday), Alex is getting ready for school when Jessica enters his bedroom.

Jessica: Alex, why are you getting ready for school?

Alex: It’s Monday.

Jessica: We don’t go to school for the next two weeks.

*Alex realises his mistake and takes off his shirt*

Alex: Thanks for reminding Jess.

Jessica: Why were you wearing that tie anyway?

Alex: I wanted to impress Carina.

Jessica: You’ve really taken a fancy to her, haven’t you?

Alex: Yeah, I have.

*Julianna walks into Alex’s bedroom*

Julianna: Taken a fancy to who?

Alex: Carina.

Julianna: You’ve got feelings for Carina?

Alex: Yeah I do.

Julianna: Then ask her out my dear brother!

Alex: I would but I’m quite nervous.

Jessica: Because this is the first time you’ve ever asked a girl out?

Alex: No silly. It’s just that she’s older than me.

Julianna: I’ll tell you what. Me and Jess here will help you ask Carina out.

Alex: You would do that for me?

Jessica: Of course.

Alex: Thanks. *puts his arms around Jessica and Julianna’s shoulders* I’ve got the best siblings in the world.

Jessica: What are you doing today?

Alex: I was going to the park to play rugby with the boys, unless you wanted to come.

Julianna: No. I’m going shopping with Kiara.

Jessica: And I’m going to the library with April and Evelyn. We’re working on our English assessment.

Alex: Have fun.

Jessica: *sarcastically* Don’t worry, I will. *smiles then walks out of the room*

Meanwhile, Alison is driving her new Holden Nova to TAFE for the first time.

*The car radio is playing Self Control by Laura Branigan*

Alison: I live among the creatures of the night. I haven’t got the will to try and fight.

*Alison parks her car in the parking lot and runs over to meet Melissa and Rachael*

Alison: Hey girls.

Rachael: Nice wheels Ali. When did you buy that?

Alison: Yesterday.

Melissa: Sweet. By the way, it’s only us and Kat today.

Alison: How come?

Melissa: Well, Sylvia’s decided to spend more time with her brother and Vicki’s looking after Cameron.

Alison: Amy will be in later. She has a doctors appointment.

*Tevita walks over to the ladies*

Tevita: How’s it going girls?

Rachael: Miserable.

Alison: Okay, I guess.

Melissa: Great.

Tevita: What’s up with you two?

Rachael: I’m sad because Tina’s now living in Warilla.

Alison: I got a new car yesterday and then I found out last night that Alexis’s friend Debbie Morgan died of a brain tumour.

Tevita: Is Vicki coming in today?

Melissa: No. She’s looking after Cameron.

*Tevita sighs*

Rachael: Is something wrong?

Tevita: It’s just that she’s really taken to him. Like he’s her son or something.

Alison: Have you even met him?

Tevita: No. But I…

Alison: I really think you should give him a chance.

Tevita: I’ll try.

Melissa: Now, that’s the spirit! *smiles*

At her house, Alexis is drinking a bottle of Jack Daniel’s while watching the Midday Show with Ray Martin.

*The doorbell rings*

Alexis: Can’t you see that I’m watching TV?

Sumara: It’s me Alexis.

Alexis: The door is open.

*Sumara opens the door and comes inside*

Sumara: I heard about Debbie and I just want to say that I’m really sorry for your loss.

Alexis: Thanks for your concern.

Sumara: When’s her funeral?

Alexis: This Thursday I think Mrs Morgan said. I really wasn’t paying attention.

*Sumara notices that Alexis is drunk*

Sumara: Drinking your sorrows have we bestie?

Alexis: So what if I have? Can’t you tell that I’m upset?

Sumara: You know you don’t have to resort to drinking to grieve for Debbie.

Alexis: Sumara, you have known me since primary school. I only drink at social gatherings.

Sumara: I’m getting concerned about you. I hate seeing you like this every time you get upset.

Alexis: And drunk!

Sumara: And ESPECIALLY when you’re drunk! You act like a complete fool!

Alexis: Get out.

Sumara: Are you pushing me away bestie?

Alexis: I said get out!

Sumara: Maybe when you’ve sobered up, I’ll talk to you again! *walks out of the house*

*Alexis grabs the Jack Daniel’s bottle and throws it onto the tiled floor, causing it to smash*

Alexis: *to herself* I shouldn’t have to go through this mess. Damn you Debbie!!!

Over at the park, Riggot is playing rugby with the boys when Sumara runs over to them.

Sumara: Guys!

*Riggot and the boys stop what they are doing and go over to Sumara*

Riggot: What is it Sumara?

Sumara: Alexis is really miserable about Debbie’s death. I just went over to her place and she was drunk as a bat.

Leon: Oh no.

Seru: What happens now?

Sumara: I think we need to support her through this terrible tragedy. Debbie was our friend as well.

Catherine: It’s just terrible what happened to poor Debbie. She was such a nice girl.

Riggot: There was nothing they could do to remove the tumour from her brain. It was inoperable.

Leon: Hayley and I went over there last night and she was an absolute mess. Her hair looked like it hadn’t been washed for weeks.

Seru: I’d hate to be in her shoes right now.

*Catherine puts her arm around Seru’s shoulders*

Catherine: The most important thing is that we’re there for Alexis.

Alex: That’s true. I wish I could give her a big hug and tell her it was okay.

Riggot: That’s my job man! *smiles*

Alex: Smart****! *gives Riggot a friendly punch*

Sumara: How can we be there for Alexis if she keeps pushing us away?

Riggot: I think I know someone who can be there for her?

Catherine: Who?

Riggot: Stacey.

Catherine: Oh that’s right. Her friend from the Central Coast.

Riggot: Maybe she can help Lexi with her problem.

At Sylvia’s house, she is watching TV when Wayne comes downstairs after having a shower.

Wayne: Sylvia, have you seen my blue formal shirt?

Sylvia: I put it back in your suitcase. Why do you ask?

Wayne: I’ve got a date tonight.

Sylvia: With who?

Wayne: Your best friend Lowana.

*Sylvia looks like she wants to faint*

Sylvia: She’s not my best friend. Just a friend.

Wayne: Lowana said you were.

Sylvia: What Lowana doesn’t know is that I never really liked her.

Wayne: Are you telling me you have been acting nice to her the whole time you’ve spoken to her?

Sylvia: I guess you could say that.

Wayne: What brought this on?

Sylvia: In Year 8, my actual best friend Kristen Harwell got into a fight with Lowana and she ended up going to hospital. Lowana said if I told anyone, she would do it to me. And from that moment, I’ve never liked her.

Wayne: I see. Well, I better call her and see if she’s still up for our date. Can I use your phone upstairs?

Sylvia: *scowling* Sure.

*Wayne goes upstairs*

Sylvia: *to herself* Why did I take the day off from TAFE?

Meanwhile, Alexis is now drinking wine while watching an episode of Santa Barbara. All of a sudden, the doorbell rings.

Alexis: What is it NOW??? *goes over to the door and opens it*

Stacey: Hey Alexis.

Alexis: What are you doing here?

Stacey: And hello to you too. *walks inside*

Alexis: I’m sorry Stacey, but as you can tell I look worse for wear.

Stacey: Don’t worry about it. I’m in a pretty rotten mood myself.

Alexis: How come?

Stacey: Jamie and I have broken up.

Alexis: Already? Everything seemed fine on Saturday night.

Stacey: That was before I found out he flirted with another woman at the nightclub. Riggot told me about it.

Alexis: Sorry to hear that. Well, Stacey it was great seeing you. I’ll be upstairs having a long shower.

Stacey: Alexis…

Alexis: I’ll be down in a sec! *goes upstairs*

*Stacey sighs*

Later that afternoon, Vicki is making a snack for Cameron.

Vicki: Cameron!

*Cameron comes downstairs*

Cameron: *hold up a flashcard* What is it?

Vicki: Your fish is ready.

Cameron: *holds up a flashcard* Thanks.

*The door starts knocking*

Vicki: I’ll just see who that is. *opens the door to find Tevita standing there* Hello Tevita.

Tevita: I need to talk to you. It’s urgent.

Vicki: Well, I’m kind of in the middle of something at the moment.

*Tevita looks at Cameron*

Tevita: Are you Cameron?

*Cameron nods his head*

Tevita: I’m Tevita. Nice to meet you. *shakes Cameron’s hand*

Cameron: *holds up a flashcard* How are you?

Tevita: I’m good thanks.

Vicki: *to Cameron* Why don’t you go upstairs and play your Game Boy?

*Cameron nods his head and walks up the stairs*

Vicki: What do you want to talk to me about?

Tevita: Are you going to spend the rest of the week looking after Cameron?

Vicki: It’s until his mother decides when she wants him back!

Tevita: I understand that he’s deaf and everything, but you shouldn’t mollycoddle him like he’s a toddler.

*Vicki gets quite defensive*

Vicki: I am NOT mollycoddling him! Did it ever occur to you that he can’t fend for himself?!?

Tevita: I’m sorry. I had no idea…

Vicki: TOO RIGHT!!! *calms down* I’m sorry. It’s just that I promised Suzie that I would look after him.

Tevita: Can I at least get a kiss?

Vicki: Well… *leans towards Tevita and kisses him on the lips*

Meanwhile, Alexis is in her bedroom brushing her hair when she stumbles across an old photo album containing photos of her and Debbie.

*As Alexis is going through the photo album, Stacey walks in*

Stacey: What’s that?

Alexis: Just some photos of me and Debbie. Oh look! Here’s one from our excursion to the Sydney Aquarium.

*Stacey sits down next to Alexis on the bed*

Stacey: When’s the funeral?

Alexis: This Thursday at 11.

Stacey: I’m coming with you for support.

Alexis: I don’t know what I’m going to do without her. *starts to tear up*

*Stacey puts her arm around Alexis*
