Alison: Jenny!

Jenny: Alison! *kisses Alison on the cheek* I heard you left Summer Bay and were coming over here. It's so great to see you. Come on in.

*Alison walks inside and sits down on the living room sofa*

Jenny: I had a phone call from Aunty Helen. She's beside herself.

Alison: Why is Mum beside herself?

Jenny: She reckons that you were driven out of town and trashed the local diner.

Alison: I have to admit. I did do some horrible things.

*Flashback to when Alison made fun of Lynn Davenport's religion*

Alison: Hey Lynn. We don't allow Catholics in Summer Bay. So why don't you go make your self scarce.

*Flashback to when Alison gets beaten up by Danielle Mahoney because she made fun of Carly Morris being raped

Celia: How dare you! Out of my shop you hoon!

*Back to the present*

Alison: I want to change Jenny. I just want to change!

Jenny: It can be difficult sometimes.

Episode 2: Picking up the Pieces

At 9:00AM on Wednesday, Alison walks over to the TAFE City campus where she is to have a meeting with institute director Pamela Maddigan

*Pamela pokes her head out her office door*

Pamela: Alison Patterson?

Alison: Yes.

Pamela: Please come in.

*Alison walks into Pamela's office and sits on a chair*

Pamela: Which course do you want to apply for Miss Patterson?

Alison: YR12 HSC.

Pamela: And why are you choosing that course?

Alison: I didn't do well enough on my HSC at Summer Bay High School. I want really good marks to get the job I want.

Pamela: Do you have any interests?

Alison: Not really. I've always wanted to be a hairdresser or a journalist something like that.

Pamela: Unfortunately we don't have any journalism courses at TAFE. But if you got your YR12 certificate here maybe we could send you to uni and have you study a journalism course there.

Alison: That would be great.

Pamela: There are many other applicants for the position so your getting in is a 50/50 chance.

Alison: I understand.

Pamela: You will get a letter in about a week to see whether you have been accepted or not. Thank you for coming Miss Patterson. *goes to shake Alison's hand*

Alison: *returns the handshake* Your welcome. Mrs...

Pamela: Maddigan.

Alison: Mrs Maddigan. Goodbye.

When Alison returns home, she finds an unexpected visitor in the living room.

Vanessa: Hello darling.

Alison: Vanessa Parker? *hugs Vanessa* It is so good to see you!

Vanessa: I know aye. I heard you left Summer Bay.

Alison: Yeah. I wanted to turn my life around.

Vanessa: That's good. I still live in Yabbie Creek. I have no job because of my bad history at school. Glad I didn't do the HSC. It's a waste of time.

Alison: I just applied for TAFE to do my HSC again.

Vanessa: Why?

Alison: I got crap marks in English and History.

Vanessa: You are lucky. I saw your mum at Yabbie Creek shops yesterday.

Alison: How is she?

Vanessa: She's coping really well. She wants you to come and visit soon.

Alison: I will.

Vanessa: Well. I have enjoyed our little chat. I have to catch the bus to Parramatta. Crashing at my uncle's place for the night.

Alison: It was nice to see you too. *hugs Vanessa* Bye. *closes the front door*

A week later, Alison gets a letter in the mail saying that she has been accepted into TAFE

Alison: JENNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I....GOT....ACCEPTED....INTO....TAFE!!!!!!!

*Jenny races into Alison's bedroom*

Jenny: Congratulations dear cousin. *hugs Alison*

Alison: I start tomorrow. Can you believe it!?!

Jenny: Your mother will be so impressed when you tell her.

Kim (over the phone): Sure. Let me get her. Mum! PHONE!

Mrs Patterson: Hello Alison darling. How are you doing at Jenny's place?

Alison: I'm loving it. I just got accepted into TAFE.

Mrs Patterson: Congratulations honey. Your father and I will always love you Alison. So do Kim and Mav.

Episode 3: New Beginnings

Alison gets ready to go to TAFE. She is very classy dressed.

Jenny: You look beautiful Alison.

Alison: Thanks Jen.

Jenny: When you get home this afternoon, my mother will be here.

Alison: I'm looking forward to seeing Aunty Diane again.

Jenny: So am I. Well you better not be late. The bus comes in five minutes.

*As Alison sits on the bus, she has a flashback*

*Flashback to when Alison has a fight with her mother about getting a job at the Macklin Corporation

Alison: It's a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Mrs Patterson: So you are just going to give up school to work for those snooty Macklin’s?

Alison: They are not snooty. Stacey says that I have full potential.

Mrs Patterson: Full potential? You haven't even handed in one single assignment in Business Studies.

Alison: What's that got to do with anything? I'll only be a receptionist!

Mrs Patterson: Giving up school to be a receptionist! I don't believe it!

Alison: I thought you would be happy for me! Turns out I was wrong! *storms off*

Mrs Patterson: Alison!! *sighs*

*Back to the present*

*Alison gets off the bus and goes inside the TAFE City campus building. She finds her classroom and sits in the back row.*

Melissa: Are you new around here?

Alison: Yes I am.

Melissa: Welcome to the class. We only have ten students in here so were pretty quiet. I'm Melissa Powell by the way. And your name?

Alison: Alison Patterson. Nice to meet you *both girls shake hands* Are the students here nice?

Melissa: Yeah. Except Nour.

Alison: Who is that?

Melissa: Some dog that thinks she is better than everyone else.

*As Alison and Melissa laugh, a tall blonde woman walks in*

Sylvia: Hey Melissa.

Melissa: Hey. *kiss each other on the cheek*

Sylvia: Did you catch a movie last night? *turns to Alison* Hello. Sylvia Jackson. *kisses Alison on the cheek*

Alison: Nice to meet you Sylvia. Who's our teacher?

Sylvia: Laura Dunlop. We call her Lolly.

Alison: That is so funny.

Melissa: She doesn't mind.

Sylvia: At least she doesn't like that ugly dog Nour.

*All three girls laugh*

Meanwhile at home, Jenny is catching up with her mother who has just returned from a trip to Germany.

Jenny: How was Germany Mum?

Mrs Peters: It was great. I had a wonderful time. I hear Alison has moved in.

Jenny: Yes. She had too many problems in Summer Bay so she's living here now.

Mrs Peters: You should find a man Jenny.

Jenny: Mum I'm 21 years-old. I can find a man when I am ready.

Mrs Peters: I just don't like you living by yourself.

Jenny: I've got Alison now.

Mrs Peters: I'll be thinking about you always Jenny.

Jenny: I know. I love you too.

*They hug*

Jenny: How are you getting home all the way to Point Clare?

Mrs Peters: That I don't know.

Jenny: You can spend the night here and I will take you home tomorrow.

Mrs Peters: That sounds lovely. I will enjoy that.

Later that afternoon, Alison and her new friends are talking about their day as they walk to the bus stop

Alison: Lolly is extremely nice.

Melissa: I told you so.

Sylvia: What did you think about the lunchroom?

Alison: It's like a social hub. Except for some of the food. Jelly and custard! Gross!

*The girls are interrupted by a group of three individuals bullying two boys from the local high school*

Bully 1: Want your hat back Longy?

Bully 2: Varu's bag is better!

Leon: Give me back my hat!

Riggot: And give back my f***ing bag!

Bully 3: No chance losers!

*Alison walks over to them*

Alison: HEY!!!! Leave those boys alone!

Bully 2: Rack off bitch!

*Alison kicks Bully 2 in the shin*

Bully 2: OUCH!!! THAT BLOODY HURT!!!

Leon: It was meant too.

Bully 1: *grabs Leon's shirt* You better watch what you say Longy!

*Alison stamps on Bully 1's foot*

Bully 1: You bloody bitch!

Alison: If I ever find out you bully these poor boys again you three are gonna wish you were never born!

Melissa: That's right! So rack off if you know what's good for you!

*The bullies run off. Alison then checks on the boys.*

Alison: Are you okay?

Riggot: We'll be fine. Thanks for saving us girl.

Alison: You are welcome.

Leon: I hope we see you and your two friends again someday.

Sylvia: I hope so too.

*Leon and Riggot walk away*

Jenny: I wonder who that could be? *walks towards the door and opens it. It is Melissa*

Melissa: Hi. Is Alison home?

Jenny: Yes she is. Who are you?

Melissa: I'm Melissa Powell; one of her new TAFE friends.

Jenny: Please come in. Would you like a drink?

Melissa: Do you have any diet soft drink?

Jenny: I have Diet Coke.

Melissa: That will be fine. I didn't catch your name?

Jenny: I'm Alison's cousin Jennifer Peters. But everyone calls me Jenny or Jen.

*Melissa and Jenny walk into the kitchen*

Jenny: Alison. Melissa from TAFE is here.

Alison: Hi Melissa.

Melissa: Hello Alison. *they both kiss on the cheek*

Alison: What brings you here?

Melissa: I just wanted to tell you that what you did today was very well handled. Those boys respect you.

Jenny: What is she talking about Alison?

Alison: These bullies were hassling two high school kids so I taught them a lesson. I did a Bobby Simpson.

Jenny: Wow! I'm really impressed Alison. You are really starting to mature into a well-respected member of the community.

Alison: I've already told Melissa and Sylvia about my past in Summer Bay if that's what you mean. But you're right. I'm glad to be living here and starting my new life.

Melissa: Will I see you at TAFE tomorrow?

Alison: You will.

Melissa: Great. I'll see you tomorrow. *kisses Alison on the cheek* It was nice to meet you Jenny. *goes to shake Jenny's hand*

Jenny: Likewise. *shakes Melissa's hand*

*Melissa leaves the house*

The next day at TAFE, Alison and her class are in the computer room doing some work.

Alison: This History task is as easy as pie. Don't you think Sylvia?

Sylvia: It's okay. By the way, I spoke to Riggot last night.

Alison: Do you know him personally?

Sylvia: He's my next-door neighbour. My parents are good friends with his family. He was wondering if he and Leon could spend time with you.

Alison: I would like that.

*On the other side of the computer lab, Nour (an Arabic woman) is clicking her fingers in Melissa's face.

Nour: Ahem!!!

Melissa: Don't you EVER click your fingers in my face again! That is extremely rude!

Nour: Typical Australian! Whenever us Arabs need help you just simply reject us.

Melissa: Now listen here you racist bitch! We did not ask you to come into this country so you can put us down! WHERE WAS THE INVITATION SAYING THAT YOU CAN COME TO AUSTRALIA AND BE A RACIST!!!!

Nour: HOW DARE YOU SPEAK TO ME LIKE THAT YOU IGNORANT COW!

*The argument continues until Lolly Dunlop breaks it up*

Lolly: Stop this at once! I will not tolerate fighting and bad language in my class. Do you understand?

Melissa and Nour: Yes Lolly.

Lolly: Good. Now return to your work.

At lunch, Nour attempts to sit at the table where Alison, Melissa, Sylvia and another girl Rachael Manase

Nour: How is your day?

Alison: Why are you sitting at our table?

Nour: Because I feel like it. I want to talk to you girls.

Rachael: I'm sorry but we don't allow racist people at our table.

Melissa: Yeah. NOW RACK OFF!

Sylvia: What Melissa said.

*Nour gets up and puts her food tray down onto an empty table*

When TAFE is finished for the day, Alison waits for Leon and Riggot to arrive. Jenny has gone out after taking Mrs Peters home earlier.

*The front door starts knocking and Alison opens it. It's Leon and Riggot.*

Riggot: Sup girl!

Alison: Sup? I don't think I've ever heard that greeting before.

Leon: All the kids from the hood say it around here.

Alison: Well don't just stand here. Come on inside.

*Leon and Riggot go inside*

Alison: How long have you been friends for?

Riggot: Since the start of last year.

Alison: What year are you in now?

Leon: Year 8.

Alison: Are those brats still giving you a hard time?

Riggot: They actually left us alone today.

Alison: I need to talk about something. *sits down on the armchair* I used to be a bully when I lived in Summer Bay.

*Leon and Riggot gasp*

Leon: You're joking.

Alison: No. I bullied people over all sorts of things. That's the reason I moved to the city to start a new life. I just thought I would tell you now before you found it later on.

Leon: I'm glad you were honest with us.

Riggot: Same.

Alison: Do you still want to be friends?

Leon: Of course we do.

Riggot: I'm cool with you Alison. Maybe one day you can watch me and Leon play footy with the boys.

Alison: I would be happy too. *they hug*

Leon: Do I get a hug?

Alison: Of course *hugs Leon*

Meanwhile, Jenny is getting a burger at McDonalds when she sees a guy crying

Jenny: What's the matter?

Brock: My girlfriend just dumped me for my best mate.

Jenny: That's horrible. I'm so sorry to hear that.

Brock: She wasn't worth my time anyway. *wipes away his tears*

Jenny: I'm Jenny Peters by the way. You are?

Brock: Brock Anderson.

Jenny: Would you like to exchange phone numbers?

Brock: Okay.

Nour: I hate living in Australia.

*Alison and Rachael overhear this*

Alison: Why do you hate living in Australia?

Nour: Because I do. Too many bloody foreigners.

Rachael: I beg your pardon? Australia is a great place to live. You get to meet wonderful people, try delicious food....

Nour: You are all racists!

Alison: Look who's talking!

Nour: Why don't you go shoot a kangaroo? Why don't you run over a wallaby?

Alison: Why don't you rack off back to your own country if you hate it so much!

Nour: DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO!

Rachael: Just stop it Nour! I've had it with your racist comments!

Nour: That's good coming from someone fresh off the boat!

*Rachael looks hurt and starts to cry and runs out of the room just as Melissa and Sylvia walk in*

Melissa: YOU MISERABLE TWO-FACED BITCH!!!

Nour: WHO ARE YOU CALLING A BITCH?!?

Alison: How dare you pick on Rachael like that. I should take off that turban you are wearing!

Nour: Try it and I will have you arrested!

Sylvia: You are racist bitch Nour! No wonder nobody likes you! *leaves the room to comfort Rachael.*

Alison: Just keep your mouth shut from now on! GOT IT?!? *follows Sylvia*

Rachael is wiping away her tears with a tissue when Sylvia and Alison approach her

Alison: Hey. Don't worry about what that bitch says. She's got no friends. But you do.

Rachael: She just makes me so angry.

Sylvia: I wish we could teach her a lesson. But how?

Alison: I've got it! We send her to coventry.

Rachael: I like that.

Alison: She'll be more of a social outcast than she is now.

At lunch, Alison puts her plan to work. She sits at a table with Melissa, Sylvia and Rachael

Alison: Here she comes.

*Nour is over at the canteen trying to get some food but the kitchen staff ignore her*

Nour: Excuse me! I would like some food please! I expect to be served!

Melissa: I think the plan is working Alison.

Rachael: Yeah. They're ignoring her like a rock.

Nour: GIVE ME SOME FOOD PLEASE!!!! HOW DARE YOU IGNORE ME!!!!

*other TAFE students just ignore her and carry on with eating their lunches or conversations*

Nour: YOU WON'T GIVE ME ANY FOOD?!? *throws her tray on the ground* THEN I'LL JUST STARVE TO DEATH!!! *storms out of the lunchroom*

*After a few minutes, the whole school including Alison and her friends laugh*

After school, Alison meets up with Leon and Riggot at the school footy oval

Alison: Hey guys.

Leon: Watcha doing Ali? *gives Alison a hug*

Alison: Not much. I just came to watch you and Riggot play NRL.

Back at home, Jenny decides to give Brock a call

Jenny: Hello Brock. It's me Jenny.

Brock (over the phone): Hi Jenny. I was just about to ring you.

Jenny: Was you?

Brock: Yes. I was just wondering if you would like to go out for dinner tonight.

Jenny: I would like that. How about we go to that new French restaurant Chez Pierre?

Brock: That's fine with me. I'll pick you up at 8 o'clock.

Jenny: Good. See you then. *hangs up the phone*

Back on the football oval, the boys are covered in grass and mud after their rugby game

Leon: That was a great game guys.

Alex: I know it was bro.

Riggot: Man! I think I hurt my shoulder.

Ben: How come?

Riggot: Seru landed on top of me.

Seru: Very funny Riggot! *gives him a friendly punch*

Alison: I thought you all did very well.

Randall: Thanks.

Leon: We'll catch you later Ali. *hugs Alison*

Alison: It was nice meeting you Alex, Seru, Ben and Randall. I hope to see you again soon.

Alex: Bye honey.
