Extended Summary

Kirby is sat in the garden singing a new song. She notices Eden looking glum and Eden comments on the lyrics involving fire and burning bridges, asking if she knows any happy songs. They’re unhappy about having the River Boys camped outside with Eden noting it feels like she hasn’t seen Cash in days. Kirby comments on her being engaged to a cop and Eden says she’s engaged to be engaged.

At the hospital, Theo is unhappy that Justin got to see Lacey and he hasn’t. Cash turns up and asks to have a moment with Theo. Leah and Justin both try to put him off but Theo sends them out. He asks about Lacey. Cash says they’re there to take an official statement: As soon as it’s filed, Gage’s legal team will know and a police guard will be assigned. He explains Sonny has arranged his own security and Lacey is safe, with the River Boys too busy following Cash around to find her. Theo says that if Lacey’s brave enough to talk then so is he.

Eden comments on having girl time. Kirby is confused to get alerts tagging Tempo Overload, then learns everyone on social media is slagging off Mali because of the article. Remi and Bree come out and Remi says he’s emptied the fridge: He’ll replace it but he needs to get supplies to Sonny. He turns down Eden’s offer to come with him, saying it’s best as few people as possible know where Sonny is.

At the motel, Sonny asks Dana what she likes best about being a nurse. She sarcastically says the poor pay, unforgiving hours, condescending doctors and irritable patients, before saying it’s constantly surprising: You see patients at their best and their worst and she was impressed by the way he pushed through the pain because he was worried about Theo. Remi turns up and is annoyed to see Dana there, getting her to wait in the corridor. He tells Sonny that Theo’s in hospital and the street’s crawling with River Boys, and he blew his cover in one hour for the sake of a hook-up. He asks what would happen if the River Boys found him and decided to beat up Dana, before saying he’s out.

Kirby and Bree look over the continuing anti-Mali posts, which mention Manta Ray Boards. Eden retrieves her phone before heading into work and gets Kirby to come with her. Remi turns up and calls Sonny a lost cause, saying he got a girl round straightaway. Bree realises it was Dana and says she encouraged her to text him and thinks it’s cute. Remi tells her to let Dana know that Sonny doesn’t do relationships, he just screws them up. Meanwhile, Dana asks Sonny about his jujitsu-trained bouncers. Sonny admits Remi might be right and they might not actually be safe there but he wanted her to stay. Dana says he’s there because he did the right thing and she doesn’t like being told what to do.

Eden is on duty at Salt when Cash turns up, closely followed by two River Boys. Cash says he’s there to pick up dinner and catch thirty seconds with her, although he can’t give her details. He gets a text saying “Safe House confirmed. Details to follow.” One of the River Boys, Mark, asks if they should get a pizza. Cash tells them to keep up.

Cash heads back to the police station and gives Lacey the food. She notes she’s missing being able to cook for herself. Cash tells her she’ll be transferred to the safe house in the morning and no-one involved in the case will know where she is. He asks if he needs to inform a family member. Lacey says not to bother about them, since she never does, but wants to go and say goodbye to Theo. Cash says she can’t because the River Boys are still tailing him.

Leah and Justin try to get Theo to eat. There’s a phone call from Lacey and Justin ushers Leah out to give them some space. Theo and Lacey check on each other (Cash also leaves Lacey alone) and Lacey tells him about the safe house. Theo says he’ll come and see her when he gets out of there. Lacey says he won’t be able to and she won’t be able to contact anyone so this is goodbye. Theo is disappointed but accepts it. Lacey wishes things they were different.

Dana tells Sonny that she doesn’t date all her patients and he says he doesn’t date all his nurses. They comment on it not exactly being a conventional first date before Dana asks how he got involved with the River Boys. Sonny says he was trying to make the money to pay Remi back and tends to create a problem while solving one. They start to kiss but Sonny pulls back, saying it’s a bad idea. He asks the guards to make sure Dana gets home and one of them escorts her out.

At the hospital, Justin and Leah notice Theo sleeping. Justin thinks talking to Lacey put his mind at rest and says he knows what it’s like to be constantly looking over your shoulder. Leah doesn’t have any sympaty, thinking Lacey brought this on herself and was texting and flirting with Theo while she had a violent boyfriend. She thinks Justin should have supervised the car better and she’s not going to take her eye off him again. Unnoticed, Theo opens his eyes.

Next morning, at the station, Cash details police officers to guard Theo in shifts. He goes to Lacey and tells her that Constable Harling will take her to the safe house. Since the River Boys are still following him, he’ll act as a decoy. He also tells her Theo will be safe. Lacey thanks him.

Remi escorts Bree into work but she assures him she’s fine and points out Theo’s new police guard. She heads into his room where Leah says Theo had a good night’s sleep. Theo says he can speak for himself. Leah tries to convince him that Lacey saying goodbye is for the best. Theo says that if she doesn’t trust him, then he doesn’t trust her, and shouts at her to get out. Justin ushers Leah outside. Leah thinks they shouldn’t have let him talk to Lacey. Bree comes out and says it’s not a good idea for Leah to come back later; Theo has the right to refuse visitors and she won’t let them back in. Leah asks Justin if he’s happy now.

Cash pulls up outside his house with the River Boys parking in their usual spot further back the street. He gets a call from Harling saying the witness is at the safe house. As Cash gets out of the car, the River Boys do a U-turn at the end of the street and drive away, with Mark gesturing to him mockingly as they pass.
