Lyrik is public enemy number one. Alf puts on a brave front. Kirby’s confidence is in freefall.
Extended Summary
Justin runs into Bree on the beach and they chat about how the surf is. Bree admits she’s enjoying her time off a bit too much and Justin suggests she could be a lady of leisure permanently with Remi’s windfall. Bree comments that Remi’s doing rehearsals. Justin turns to Theo and asks if he knew about them. Theo says he’s just on his way there.
Up in Salt, Remi assures Eden and Kirby that he’s not just giving them a hard time. Eden and Kirby tell him that they care but they have other stuff going on at the moment, whereas he and Bree are sorted. Remi points out that playing makes them feel good and suggests they need that at the moment.
At the Diner, Marilyn tells Leah about Alf giving up on finding another location. Bree comes in and asks about the bait shop being closed, wondering how Alf is. They tell her he’s upset but it’s not to do with his health. Bree realises it’s because of the rent, having seen Roo’s article. Meanwhile, Alf is looking over the caravan park, a ghost of a smile on his face. He tells Roo he’s decided to relocate the bait shop there, possibly by clearing out the old storage shed. Roo agrees it’s close to fishing spots and home and Alf adds that there’s no-one to put up the rent.
At the surf club, Justin asks Theo why he hasn’t mentioned the rehearsal and why he’s in no hurry to get there. He stresses that it’s a trial and there’s no pressure. Theo says he doesn’t want to let Remi and the others down. Justin says he won’t know until he tries. Back at the Lyrik house, Remi tells Eden and Kirby that Theo’s on his way and Kirby agrees that they need to remember why they love it. Theo turns up and asks Eden how Abby is. Eden doesn’t know but doesn’t blame Theo for ending things. Theo notices the poster and realises Kirby has been photoshopped. Kirby says apparently the way she looks in real life doesn’t sell. She rolls up the poster and they head outside.
Theo notices the new amps. Remi has put together a song list but is open to suggestions. Kirby suggests Make It Out and soon the four of them are playing enthusiastically. Later, after it’s got dark and they have finished off another song, Eden suggests taking a band selfie, promising not to post it until the comeback is official. Kirby looks uncomfortable but poses with the others. Rose suddenly appears with another police officer and says they’ve received a noise complaint: The band either have to keep it down or stop. Remi guesses the complaint was from John and suggests buying him a drink but eventually agrees to move indoors. Rose adds that it’s nice to hear them playing again.
Alf and Marilyn join Roo on the veranda of the caravan park house. A moment later, Leah and Justin arrive, having been summoned by Roo. Roo tells them all about Alf’s plan. Alf says they’re not asking them to do anything but Roo explains she is. Justin agrees to get the stuff from the bait shop. Roo also thinks that they can do better than the old shed and has been getting some quotes.
Some time later, Alf, Marilyn and Roo go back inside. Alf feels Roo didn’t give anyone a choice about helping. Roo gets him to admit he’ll be happy in the bait shop and shows him examples of sheds she’s printed out, as well as asking where he wants to put it. Alf finally gives up and says he’ll see them in the morning.
Lyrik have set up again inside the house. Kirby admits to Eden and Theo that she feels guilty about Mali cancelling the gala, Remi asks what their next song will be and Eden confirms to Kirby that All of You is off the table. Bree turns up, surprised they’re still rehearsing, and Remi says he has to focus on getting the others in order. They start performing Someone Like You. Later, they’re playing loudly when Rose returns, saying she can still hear them from down the street and don’t want to come back there. Remi suggests going acoustic but Rose suggests stopping the rehearsal.
Next morning, Remi meets with Bree at Salt and admits he didn’t get much sleep, while texting the rest of the band to arrange a rehearsal later that day. Bree offers to get them some coffees but Remi has ordered some, which are just delivered. He apologises to Bree for kicking her out, while Bree is feeling upset about Alf having to leave the bait shop.
Theo arrives outside the Lyrik house for the rehearsal. Eden shows him and Kirby the photo but Kirby thinks she’s awful and tells them to delete it. She thinks the ad agency must know what they’re talking about. Theo and Eden try to tell her she’s perfect but she’s in no mood to be cheered up. Eden tells Theo they can’t get her to rehearse today.
Roo passes Alf and Marilyn outside the house. Alf is going to meet Justin shortly and Roo says she’ll help them if she’s back in time. Marilyn suggests Alf get her to slow down but Alf knows there’s no chance. At Salt, Remi and Bree say their goodbyes. Rose approaches Remi and says she didn’t enjoy shutting them down, but won’t say where the complaints are from. Theo turns up and tells Remi that the rehearsal’s been cancelled.
Alf stands overlooking the beach. Marilyn joins him with a cup of tea and says she’ll miss bringing him one from the Diner. Justin joins them, closely followed by Bree. Alf says he’s not going to be sentimental as he loads the last of the stuff in the back of the ute. Justin and Marilyn talk to Bree about the relocation plans and how Alf’s taken a lot of hits lately.
Remi meets Bree by the beach and tells her about the rehearsal being cancelled. Bree notes how down Alf was, saying his run of bad luck started that day in the hospital and she wishes she could do something to help.
