Extended Summary
Mackenzie is collecting a delivery outside the surf club. Levi comes along, saying he ran a staff meeting at the hospital and delegated everything, and now wants her to run away with him. Mackenzie is slightly bemused, saying she has to work and has nobody to delegate to: Xander’s away and Eden’s always busy. She says she might be able to manage tomorrow, before getting Levi to help bring the boxes in.
At the Newman house, Cash finishes a phone call with Nerida and tells Abigail she’s on her way. Abigail checks that Nerida knows she’s not committing to anything. She asks Cash how he found out about Nerida and he says she was on Tim’s work website. He says he did it because he still cares about Eden. Abigail asks what he would have done if Tim had turned out to be a saint. Cash insists he would have walked away.
Across the road, Tim points out that Eden’s coffee is cold. She apologies for keeping him waiting and says she went to see Abigail but doesn’t think she’ll trust her. Tim suggests he and Eden go for a drive. Remi walks in and vetoes the idea, saying it’s their first day of rehearsals and he doesn’t trust Eden to get back in time.
At the surf club, Mali leaves a message asking for the campaign manager or photographer Vanessa to get in touch. Kirby is still upset over the photos, saying they changed her body shape and skin colour and removed her tattoo but didn’t change anything else in the photo. Mali assures her there’s nothing wrong with her and they’ll get to the bottom of it.
Abigail tells Cash that she liked Tim but Cash insists that he betrayed her. Nerida turns up and Cash does the introductions, before explaining that he thought the two women should exchange stories. Nerida says she was desperate for drugs when she met Tim and hit rock bottom when she used money her uncle gave her for her mother’s funeral to buy drugs and then missed the funeral. She says Tim was the love of her life but he asked her to keep it quiet from people at work then ended it out of nowhere, causing her to relapse. Abigail says Tim didn’t sleep with her but did hook up with her sister and dump her as a client. Nerida asks if her sister and Tim are still together and Abigail confirms they are. Cash wants both of them to make complaints.
Mali asks Kirby if he should send out another e-mail about the gala but she isn’t really paying attention. Mali suggests she goes home and Kirby agrees, saying she has rehearsals, but asks him to call her when the ad agency get back. She takes one of the posters, saying she wants a second opinion. Alf comes along and admires the posters, causing Kirby to leave, downcast. Mali explains the photo of Kirby was altered without their permission.
Abigail tells Nerida what Tim did to her is wrong. Nerida asks how Tim met her sister. Abigail says Eden drove her to her first session then Tim suggested family counselling. Nerida guesses it was away from the office, saying he did the same with her, then palmed her off on a colleague. Abigail says he left her feeling she’d done something wrong. Nerida produces a journal like the one Abigail had and says she wrote down a full record of their relationship there. Abigail calls it evidence and Cash agrees.
Up in Salt, Mackenzie is on the phone trying to sort out an order and realises she’s the one who’s made a mistake. She gives a coffee to Mali and they note neither of them’s having a good day. Levi turns up and tries to get Mackenzie to get someone to cover her shift again but she snaps that he doesn’t get someone to operate for him, and heads into the storeroom. Levi admits to Mali that he’d arranged a surprise that he has to cancel and it’s kind of their anniversary. After he’s gone, Mackenzie tells Mali that Levi wasn’t taking no for an answer. Mali explains.
Cash has set up the clinic’s complaints form on his laptop and gives it to Abigail. Nerida asks what Cash gets out of this. Abigail says Eden is Cash’s ex and he wants her away from Tim. Cash insists he’s just trying to show Eden the truth and suggests they focus on the complaint. Across the road, Remi glowers as Eden and Tim mess about on the couch, wanting Eden to concentrate on rehearsals. Kirby turns up and shows them the poster. Not really looking, Remi says it’s great and Tim agrees it’s awesome. Eden realises Kirby’s been altered and Kirby says she doesn’t know why. She gets a text from Mali saying the ad agency have got back to him and frustrates Remi by rushing off again.
Mackenzie turns up at the hospital wearing a trenchcoat and asks Levi if he’s going to invite her in. She opens up the coat to reveal some racy underwear and Levi drags her into an embrace, closing the door. Meanwhile, Nerida is looking over the form which asks for supporting documents. Abigail says she didn’t have any. Cash suggests Nerida upload photos of her journal pages and Abigail lends Nerida her phone to take them. Abigail comments to Cash that she’s worried how Eden will react.
Kirby arrives back at the surf club and Mali tells her they’re getting the promotional campaign redone with the original photos. Kirby asks why they changed it and Mali reads out their response: “Research says demographics respond better to this aesthetic.” Kirby concludes that they mean thinner women with lighter skin. She leaves, passing Alf. Back at the Lyrik house, Remi asks for someone to help him get something out of the van. Tim tries to volunteer but Eden realises Remi wants her to look at it. Tim realises he’s outstayed his welcome and leaves. Kirby comes back, upset, and Eden comforts her.
Mackenzie and Levi are curled up on the couch in his office, clothes scattered everywhere. Mackenzie apologises for not realising what he was up to but wonders how he decided today was their anniversary. Levi explains that a year ago she took him to the Salt at the Sea fundraiser and afterwards kissed him. Outside the Lyrik house, Eden comments to Remi on how much Kirby was looking forward to the campaign. Remi isn’t really paying attention and shows off some new amps he’s bought, which Eden is impressed by. Eden sees Cash and Abigail leave the house together.
Remi goes back into the house, wondering where Theo is. Kirby is still preoccupied with the posters, pointing out Remi and Tim thought they were great. Remi admits he didn’t really look at them. Eden comes in, talking about Cash and Abigail. Remi gets increasingly frustrated as he tries and fails to get their attention onto the rehearsals, eventually asking why he bothers and walking out.
Kirby and Eden go to the surf club where Mali says he’s cancelled the gala day, since he wasn’t really feeling it anymore. They ask about Remi and Mali says he went upstairs. In the office, Alf is printing out a notice that the bait shop is closed. Mali comes in and tells him about the gala day being cancelled but insists Manta Ray Boards is still going to be big some day.
Kirby and Eden join Remi at the bar in Salt and wonder why he got so upset. Remi says he’s trying hard to make this work but sometimes feels like he’s bashing his head against a wall. He says they’ve got four weeks to make this happen and wonders if he’s wasting his time.
