Extended Summary

Remi and Eden are walking on the beach. Eden talks about her visit to her mum and Remi says he’s tired because of session work. They run into Theo, Kirby and Bree who have all just finished a surf. Looking at Bree, Remi says he needs to go home to practice chord changes. The others don’t quite buy it and Theo helps him out by saying it’s a major seventh. Bree says she has to get to work while Eden has to meet Cash. Kirby tells her about Remi supposedly dating Laney. She notices Bree has left her sunglasses and Theo talks her out of going after her, saying to text her instead. He heads off to the garage.

At the Diner, Leah and Marilyn look over the newspaper article. Leah admits Irene gave the journalist plenty of inspiration and wishes she’d never suggested the article. John turns up and says Irene went home because she wasn’t feeling well and is having a nap. Leah thinks she’s hiding away because of the article but John denies it.

Tane is finishing a training session with Harper near the beach. He tells her he’s been thinking about Perri and whether he should enrol him in the local school. He admits he hasn’t spoken to Perri about it and Harper suggests he do that first. Tane says Perri’s meeting with his parole officer and isn’t going back to live with his father. He’s disgusted with the man and says if you’re a parent you give it your all.

Kirby and Eden arrive at the surf club and Eden happily greets Cash. He vaguely mentions he’s had a major breakthrough with a murder case and Eden says her mum wants to meet him. As they head upstairs, Mali arrives and looks after them. Cash and Eden arrive up in Salt; Cash says he’s waiting on news from work. While Eden is at the bar, Mali follows them up and makes vague small talk with Cash. Cash suspects Mali has a problem with Rory and says he can help him if he’s straight with him. Mali says he was just checking in.

At the Diner flat, Remi and Bree appear from the bedroom. Remi says it felt weird and awkward on the beach before, especially with Theo lying for them, but Bree doesn’t think it’s a problem. Kirby turns up with Bree’s sunglasses and is surprised she’s there instead of at work and also that Remi’s there. Bree says Remi was dropping off a book for her. Kirby says Remi owns four books and they’re all musician biographies. Remi says it’s the Mick Jagger one. Kirby leaves and Remi chides Bree for the excuse.

At the coffee cart, John and Theo are looking over the news article. John gets a text from Irene saying she’s at the meeting. Leah wants to check on Irene but John says she needs rest. Leah decides to head back to the Diner and John walks with her. Kirby turns up and says she was at Bree’s, and Remi was there. She says Theo knows what she knows. Theo tries to be cautious but ends up asking why Remi and Bree being back together is a big deal. Kirby triumphantly says she knew it.

They go for a walk on the beach with Kirby commenting on the hard time the pair gave them over setting them up, the fact it was Bree on Remi’s bike rather than Laney, and whether Eden knows. Theo says (not for the first time) that he’s the only one that knows and that Remi and Bree don’t want the pressure of other people knowing, telling Kirby to let them sort it out at their own pace.

Bree suggests to Remi that Kirby might not figure it out but Remi says she didn’t buy their story. He suggests they tell people, admitting keeping it secret is starting to feel old. Bree thinks what they have now is special. Remi says it still would be and that he wants to take her out. Bree says she likes it just being the two of them. Remi gives in but doesn’t look happy.

At the Diner, Leah serves Harper a huge burger which she says is to give her protein after the workout. Marilyn comments on John hanging around. Harper mentions John spending the night on their couch, which is news to Leah and Marilyn. Leah wants to go and check on Irene. John says she’s not sick, she’s gone to Yabbie Creek for retail therapy.

At Salt, Cash has filled Eden in on Felicity planning to leave and indicates he’s closing in on Rory. Eden suggests he tell Felicity what’s going on but Cash says he has no proof and it might drive Felicity away. They both regret pushing her towards him. Mali comes in and meets Tane at the bar, admitting there’s something going on. He takes Mali back to the house and shows him the bag, explaining about the River Boys helping him out with the fight and now having to look after the bag. He worries it’s guns or drugs. Tane tries to get into the bag.

Kirby and Theo arrive at Salt and greet Cash and Eden from a distance. Cash has to get to work and passes Remi and Bree on the way out. They go and sit with Kirby and Theo. Kirby is smirking at them and commnts on Bree not being long at work. Bree says it was just a consult. Eden joins them and asks Remi about Laney. Remi tries to avoid giving details but Bree says she’s fine with it. Kirby announces that Remi and Bree are seeing each other. Remi acknowledge it’s true. Everyone seems happy apart from Bree. At the farm house, Tane tries to pick the lock, saying they can put it back without the River Boys knowing, but isn’t having a lot of luck. Mali tells Tane he should stay out of it and decides he’ll get rid of the bag somehow.

John has sent a text to Irene asking about the meeting. Theo comes in and sits with John, saying he’s tired of keeping secrets and wondering why people can’t be honest. Harper listens in thoughtfully from the next table. Marilyn notes Harper’s barely touched her food. Harper leaves purposefully. John gets a phone call and Leah and Marilyn look on, suspecting he’s talking to Irene. Leah goes over and asks to talk to her but John quickly ends the call, saying Irene dropped out going through a tunnel.

Remi and Bree arrive back at the Lyrik house. Bree is trying to avoid having a conversation. Remi says he knows she didn’t want it coming out like this but they should celebrate that everyone’s happy for them. Bree says she can’t celebrate something she didn’t want to happen. Remi asks if that means she never wanted it to happen and if she’s having second thoughts about them.

Harper meets Tane outside the surf club. Before she can say much, he cuts her off and asks if she can get Perri’s old school details for him, saying he wants to know what year he was in and how far behind he is before talking to him about going back. Harper is a bit overwhelmed at how focused he is on it and heads inside. Tane follows, wondering if he’s done something to upset her. Harper tries to get away but feels faint and ends up collapsing in his arms.
