Eden is broken by Levi’s lies. Mali chooses Tane over Rose. Tane’s lost the will to fight.
Extended Summary
Levi follows Eden down the road, saying he can explain. Eden challenges him to explain how he was kissing a woman who’s not his wife and realises Mackenzie is the reason he’s been coming to the Bay all along. She walks away again as Levi shouts out that he loves Mackenzie. Meanwhile, Mackenzie is back at Salt where Felicity admits she’s come in on her day off because she’s home on her own and wanted some decent food: Cash has had to go the city for a handover. Mackenzie tells her chef’s trying out some new mains so Felicity goes to see.
Outside, Levi catches up with Eden again. She tells him he’s just like their father, except he’s sleeping with a patient and guesses he has been for months. Levi says her world’s black and white with no nuance and that Cash had better watch out if he ever messes up. Eden replies that he has a wife who thinks he loves her and is astonished when Levi asks her not to tell Imogen. Felicity has come out and witnessed the argument, asking what’s going on. Eden dares Levi to tell her and he walks away. Felicity comforts Eden. Later, they’re back at the Newman house. Felicity offers to call Cash. Eden is aghast that Levi and Mackenzie could do this and says she really thought he wanted to make things up with her.
Rose joins Harper outside Tane’s cell and says he’ll see the magistrate in the morning. Harper realises that means he’ll be kept in overnight. She follows Rose away and expresses concern that Tane isn’t trying to defend himself. Rose suggests he knows how much trouble he’s in and warns Harper that she and Mali could face charges for hindering an investigation as well.
Rose goes round to see Mali, who is getting a suit ready for Tane. He sarcastically asks if she’s serving a warrant and she asks why he didn’t come to her when he knew where Tane was. Mali doesn’t think Tane should be punished, since he brought the baby back and would never have hurt her. Rose asks what would have happened if Mali hadn’t managed to talk Tane round. Mali says Tane’s his friend and he trusted him. Rose asks what she is. She tells him what she told Harper: He might be charged and she wouldn’t be able to help him. Mali says he’s not expecting her to.
Levi arrives at Salt and is greeted by Bree, who apologises for the other night, saying she was trying to make herself feel better about a break-up but that’s no excuse for cracking on to a married man. Levi says it’s all right. He goes over to Mackenzie and says things went as expected with Eden. Mackenzie thinks they need to know if she’s going to tell Imogen or everything could blow up. Levi replies that his life’s already blown up. Later, Mali is on the phone to someone (probably Harper) making arrangements for tomorrow. Levi and Mackenzie turn up and Levi quickly retreats into the bedroom. Mackenzie tells Mali about Eden finding out about them. She goes to join Levi in the bedroom and takes his hand.
Rose arrives home and talks to Bree about finally reuniting mother and baby. She says Mali’s angry she arrested Tane, even though she didn’t have a choice. She notes Tane’s his friend but she’s supposed to be his girlfriend, and says she has to arrest anyone that commits a crime, even a friend. Meanwhile, Mackenzie finds herself alone in bed and discovers Levi sitting up, looking over his recent text conversations with Imogen. He calls it a wall of lies. Mackenzie tries to convince him to come back to bed and he says he’ll be along in a bit.
Next morning, Felicity and Eden are outside the surf club. Eden doesn’t want to talk about Levi since she’ll start ranting and demonstrates by talking about how she never thought about Levi being nearby whenever she called. Felicity admits she’s the same, recalling seeing Levi at Mackenzie’s place. Eden wonders if that means Tane and Mali know. She gets a call from Imogen and doesn’t answer. Imogen texts wondering where Levi is. Eden deduces she doesn’t know.
Tane, Mali and Harper arrive back at the farm house. Tane seems relaxed but not really interested in anything. Mali says he was lucky his legal aid lawyer got him bail. Harper gives him the lawyer’s card, encouraging him to call him. Tane says he’ll think about it. After he’s gone, Mali reminds Harper that Tane was on the run with a baby a day ago. Harper observes Mali and Rose barely acknowledged each other and wonders about them being charged. Mali thinks they need to concentrate on Tane.
On the balcony at Salt, Mackenzie asks Levi what the plan is and if he should talk to Eden. Levi doesn’t want to risk driving her further away. Mackenzie points out that Eden could tell Imogen and advises him to contain it. Meanwhile, Felicity reluctantly leaves Eden alone at the Newman house. Eden says if she calls Imogen back she’ll have to either lie or break her heart. She gets a call from Cash and initially acts as though everything is fine before saying she needs him back there.
Rose turns up at the farm house and says she needs to collect Tane’s passport. Mali isn’t happy but Tane goes along with the instructions without any hostility. Rose reminds him he has to report to the police station three times a week starting tomorrow and he says he’ll be there. After Rose has gone, Harper tells Tane that he might have given up but they haven’t. Meanwhile, Felicity turns up at Salt to find Levi and Mackenzie together. She notes that things move fast and orders Levi out before telling Mackenzie she’s only just getting started.
Levi turns up at the Lyrik house to see Eden. He asks her if she’s just going to not talk to him for the next ten years. Eden says she hasn’t really thought about it but it sounds like a fantastic idea. Levi says he’s hurt her and Imogen but having her back in his life has meant everything to him. Back at Salt, Felicity berates Mackenzie for going after a married man. Mackenzie says Felicity has no right to judge her. Felicity says Mackenzie judged her when she was lying to Tane and now Levi’s lying to his wife. She says she doesn’t know how Mackenzie can live with herself.
