Episode 8172

Extended Summary

Cash, Felicity and Eden walk through a park area, having just sorted out the lease for the house. Felicity is quite hyped about having her name on it, leading Cash to comment on her journey to being responsible and whether it’s his turn to go rogue. Felicity skips off to work, saying she needs to earn money to pay the rent. Eden gets an alert on her phone and Cash suggests she call Levi, but she gives it a hard pass.

At the hospital, Rose arrives with coffees for Xander, Mali and Tane. Mali has been looking things up on his phone and awkwardly announces that many people who have a second heart attack so soon after the first don’t survive. Xander doesn’t consider the comment helpful. Tane encourages them to think that Mackenzie’s strong and can beat this.

Cash and Eden arrive back at the house. Cash has mixed feelings about it now being their place, recalling that he was never supposed to be living there, just staying there temporarily while he sorted his life out. Eden encourages him to think of the positive aspects, including the comfy bed. Meanwhile, Felicity arrives at Salt where Harper and Dana are chatting and checks that someone’s taken their order. Harper says she’s sorry about Mackenzie and they explain she’s back in hospital.

Felicity joins the others at the hospital and asks what’s happened. Tane says Mackenzie’s still in surgery and Xander apologises for not texting her. Felicity expresses shock that this has happened when she was talking to her at the house not too long ago. Tane tries to reassure her. Outside the surf club, Alf is on the phone to a committee member, Gav, protesting about what’s going on. Harper and Dana come past and he asks them about Mackenzie. Dana says she was still in surgery when she left. Alf goes to call another committee member, Jane. Harper is worried about Tane and Dana encourages her to text him.

Tane receives the text but moments later Levi appears. He tells the group that it’s good news so far and Mackenzie’s  in recovery. Mali asks if they can see her but Levi says not today. Tane thanks him and Xander says they owe him, getting a cold look in reply before Levi walks off. Xander confirms to Rose that this is good news. Felicity gets teary and Tane gives her a hug which they both pull away from awkwardly. Felicity announces drinks on her at Salt. Later, Felicity arrives as Xander turns up, saying the others are right behind him. He thanks her for arranging this for them. Mali and Rose arrive next but say Tane went to get some things together for Mackenzie and they’re not sure if he’s coming afterwards.

Tane is in Mackenzie’s room and finds his wedding ring. Felicity calls out to him and he invites her in; she says she thought he could use some help. As they check a drawer, Felicity asks Tane about before. Tane at first suggests it was just relief about Mackenzie before admitting he still loves her. Felicity grins, before he adds that it doesn’t mean they should be together. Felicity says it’s better she knows and that she’ll get Mackenzie’s clothes together while he gets her toothbrush. Meanwhile, Mackenzie comes round and finds Levi by her bedside. He tells her to get some rest, continuing to sit beside her.

Felicity turns up at Salt. Cash and Eden are at the bar and heard what happened from Rose. Felicity says it was civil with Tane. Cash and Eden join Mali, Rose and Xander at a table. Mali proposes a toast to Levi but Eden doesn’t join in, saying he was just doing his job. Xander looks amused as Cash explains he’s Eden’s brother, leaving Mali and Rose gobsmacked. Eden goes to get some water. Cash follows her to the bar and asks if holding onto this is making her happy.

Mackenzie comes round again, with Levi still sitting by her. He tells her she had a packed waiting room out there but he sent them home. He asks if there’s anyone he can call but Mackenzie doesn’t want to worry her mum or drag Dean back there. Eden appears in the doorway and listens in unseen as Levi says family are there when you need them. She walks away without saying anything.

Xander, Rose and Mali arrive back at the flat. Rose and Mali want to head straight to bed but Xander wants more beer first, saying he needs to relax or he’s just going to lie awake. Mali sends Rose off to bed as Xander worries this could happen again. Mali says the website he looked at talked about research into SCAD. Xander asks for the link, wanting to sit up and read it.

Cash and Felicity also arrive home. Cash is set to go to bed before Felicity tells him about Tane comforting her at the hospital and how it felt like they were back but he shut her down. She hopes it’s going to get easier.. Eden turns up and Felicity heads to bed. Eden tells Cash that she was going to go and see Levi but thinks what he said makes him a hypocrite.

Next morning, Mackenzie talks to Levi about her leaving hospital. Levi says that Xander has a lot to answer for and him having been a paramedic means he should have known better. Mackenzie retorts that she has a mind of her own and he could only have stopped her by crash-tackling her. Dana shows Tane in and Levi leaves them to it.

Levi heads to the coffee cart where Marilyn gives him the coffee for free to thank him for saving Mackenzie. Eden sees him and tries to head in the opposite direction but Levi sees her. Eden thought he was leaving town but Levi says now Mackenzie’s back in hospital he’s staying as long as he needs to, so she’ll have to get used to seeing him around. Eden replies that he’ll have to get used to her ignoring him.

Harper meets up with Tane for a class and he tells her he’s seen Mackenzie and she’s doing fine. Felicity comes past and she and Tane smile awkwardly at each other, leaving Harper bemused. Meanwhile, Eden arrives back at the Newman house and tells Cash that he was right about going away and they should do it together. Cash refuses unless she tells him why.
