Extended Summary

Theo, Eden, Remi and Kirby finish a music session round the back of the Lyrik house. Remi produces beers but Theo declines since he hasn’t eaten. Kirby asks about dinner and Remi and Eden say that, since they brought the beers, she’s cooking. Theo and Kirby head inside. Eden teasingly asks Remi about Bree ghosting him and Remi comments on the lack of appearances by Cash. Inside, Kirby and Theo check the cupboards without success. Eden and Remi come in and Kirby decides they should go to Salt and she’ll pay. The others ask if she’s had a windfall. Theo goes to answer them but Kirby cuts him off.

Justin arrives at the hospital and finds Leah in a cubicle with Rose. Rose asks Justin to wait outside, explaining Leah’s being breathalysed and having blood tests done to see what was in her system, although it’s just procedure. Meanwhile, Eden, Remi, Kirby and Theo arrive at the surf club. Eden gets a text from Cash saying he’s too busy with Felicity to join them. Once the others are out of earshot, Theo asks Kirby why she hasn’t told them about her licensing payment. In the office, Roo wonders why Alf didn’t defend himself against John. Alf says he feels sorry for John and the committee aren’t treating him fairly. Roo notes that’s two shocks: John having a go at Alf and Alf defending him.

John arrives at the Diner and tells Irene that Alf wouldn’t let him talk to the committee. Irene isn’t as convinced as him that Alf is the one to blame and isn’t happy that John had a go at him. At the hospital, Justin asks Leah what happened. She says all she can remember is being in the middle of an intersection and the other car hitting her. She tries to downplay the incident, saying no-one was hurt. Rose comes back and says Leah and the other driver’s test results came back clear and she’s free to go.

Justin and Leah arrive home. Leah finds the dinner that Justin set up and he explains about his anger management ending. He blames the other driver but Leah admits it was her fault and she fell asleep at the wheel. At Salt, Remi and Eden discuss Mackenzie’s absence before noting the champagne Kirby ordered while they weren’t looking. With a few pointed looks from Theo, Kirby tells them about the money she got from her song being licensed to another artist; she’s not sure who set the deal up. Remi and Eden take it in their stride but are shocked when she reveals it was $8,000.

Justin sees Leah to bed, wondering why she didn’t tell him she was still having problems. Leah says she didn’t want to worry him. Justin tells her to get some rest and they’ll talk tomorrow. He leaves her alone as Theo comes home and tells Theo about Leah falling asleep at the wheel. Theo says she was supposed to be getting better and wonders what the plan is. Justin doesn’t seem entirely sure.

Next morning, at the coffee cart, Alf tells Roo that he’s going to talk to John. John turns up and wants to avoid Alf and go to the Diner. Alf wants John to hear what’s happened from him rather than in an e-mail. He says John hasn’t been fired as general manager but the majority of the committee voted, against Alf’s wishes, to have him barred from taking bronze medallion or any other surf club classes, for good.

Leah and Justin are having breakfast when Theo gets up. Leah dismisses his questions about the accident, saying his mother asked when he’s going to visit next. Rose turns up with some questions for Leah. Theo is sent to get ready for TAFE. Once he’s out of the room, Justin offers to repair the damage to the other car. Rose says they’ve looked at the traffic footage and asks Leah why she ran a red light.

At the Diner, John tells Irene teaching classes and nurturing young members is the best part of the job. Irene tries to convince him he has other duties but John doesn’t see the point and declares if they don’t want him then they won’t get him: The surf club can find themselves another general manager.

Round the back of the Lyrik house, Remi finishes a phone conversation with his dad about Bree, and Eden again needles him about her always being at work. Kirby comes out and says she’s thought about their suggestions on what to do with the money (Eden suggests jewellery and Remi suggests a motorbike). She says she’s going to use it to fund studio time for their nexr album. Eden is delighted; Remi is grateful but more muted. At the surf club, John is clearing out his office and tells Alf he’s leaving a letter of resignation. Alf says it’ll go in the bin so John says he’ll e-mail it to him. Alf accuses John of cutting off his nose to spite his face but John refuses to change his mind, handing over the keys and his whistle.

Leah has explained to Rose about falling asleep. Rose points out she could have hit a pededestrian but says she’s not charging her. She tries to convince Leah to get help and says she shouldn’t be driving. Theo passes through on his way to TAFE. Leah asks why Rose is still there if she’s not charging her. Rose says she’s worried about her and leaves. Later, Justin tries to convince Leah to go to a GP but all Leah will offer is for him to take her keys. Justin says he’ll do the talking if that’s the problem. Leah snaps that Justn couldn’t understand.

Remi asks Eden if she feels strange about taking Kirby’s money but Eden doesn’t have a problem with it. Rose turns up looking for Cash, saying she wanted to ask about his suspension review. Eden has been told that Rose called them and smoothed things over. Rose reveals things aren’t as simple as that and isn’t even sure if Cash has called them himself to apologise.

Leah and Justin are walking through a park area, with Justin wanting to know what Leah meant. Leah shouts that she can’t sleep because every time she closes her eyes she sees him dying. Justin tries to tell her that he’s okay and Leah agrees: He’s okay and she’s still suffering, because he was unconscious back at the factory and got off easy.
