Extended Summary

Dana is by the coffee cart, on the phone to Harper and saying she didn’t pack a lunch because she’s not five. Bree comes along and Dana tells her about it being her first shift at Northern Districts. Bree assures her there’s a staff canteen and a café and offers her a lift in. They pass Rose, who leaves a phone message for Cash saying she can hang around if he needs a lift.

Back at Salt, Xander tends to Mackenzie as Cash says the ambulance is on the way. Xander tells him to get the defibrilator and tells Felicity to clear them some space. He realises there’s no pulse and starts doing chest compressions. Cash retrieves the defibrilator from downstairs and hurriedly fills in Alf, who says he’ll send the ambulance crew up. Xander gets Cash to take over chest compressions while he uses the defibrilator.

Mali has taken a class down the beach and notices Tane setting up nearby. He awkwardly comments that he didn’t know whether to set an extra place at breakfast again with Tane going out. Tane tartly says he didn’t know he had to check in. Meanwhile, Alf and Xander clear a space as the paramedics take Felicity away in the ambulance. Xander promises her he’ll take care of Salt.

Xander goes back inside but can’t offer an explanation to Cash and Felicity. Felicity wants to go to the hospital and Cash says he’ll drive her. Felicity asks if it was her fault and Xander says the extra stress couldn’t have helped. Felicity thanks him. She and Cash pass Rose without a word. Rose asks Xander what’s going on.

Bree and Dana get ready for the incoming trauma and are shocked when it turns out to be Mackenzie. The paramedic gives them a rundown. The monitor quickly starts bleeping and Bree requests the defibrilator. Outside the surf club, Alf, Xander and Rose discuss what happened. Xander admits he’s never known this to happen when there isn’t an underlying heart problem. Mali overhears part of the conversation and asks what’s going on.

Bree and the staff manage to get Mackenzie back into sinus rhythm. Cash and Felicity arrive and ask Dana what’s going on. Bree tells them she’s stable but they’re not sure what caused it, sending them to the waiting area. Cash asks Feliity about her argument with Mackenzie. Felicity snaps that she heard him and Eden talking about Tane sleeping with other women.

Down on the beach, Tane is clearing up after the class. One of the female clients asks if he’s free for a drink later and gives him her number. Mali approaches and Tane tells him not to give him attitude. Mali tells him Mackenzie’s in hospital and offers him a lift; Tane quickly agrees.

Mackenzie comes round as Bree is trying to make sense of her test results. All she remembers is being at work, feeling dizzy and having chest pains. Cash and Felicity are still waiting for news when Mali and Tane turn up. Felicity quickly starts having a go at Tane for sleeping with other women, asking how he could do that when he’s supposed to have loved her. Tane turns the argument back at her. Bree steps in, telling them to take it outside. Felicity leaves, frustrated, and Cash goes with her. They head back home where Felicity asks Cash if he was ever going to tell her about Tane. Cash gets fed up and leaves her alone.

Bree lets Tane and Mali in to see Mackenzie, after admitting she’ll have to run more tests and contact a specialist. They try to keep the mood light but Mackenzie ends up bursting into tears, saying she doesn’t know what’s happening. Mali offers to call Dean but Mackenzie doesn’t want to worry him. At Salt, Xander gets Rose a bowl of chips on the house. Cash turns up and says he’ll have one too. Rose tells him he missed his review and should have let them know what was going on. Cash asks if he was supposed to do that before or after doing CPR, before accepting she’s right. Rose has spoken to them and was told it was no excuse unless the medical emergency happened to him, so he’s still suspended. Cash can’t blame them.

Felicity has called the gym trying to talk to Tane. When Cash turns up, she asks to borrow his phone, since Tane blocked her number. Cash loses his temper with her and says the situation is down to her choices, not his or Mackenzie’s. Meanwhile, Bree is in reception at the hospital and ignores a call from Remi. A slightly confused-looking casually-dressed youing man tuins up and introduces himself as Levi Fowler, cardiothoracic surgeon, asking if she expected someone older. Bree wasn’t expecting anyone at all: She was just expecting advice or a referral. Levi asks about the patient.

Mali reads Mackenzie a text from Xander saying everything’s all right at Salt. Felicity turns up and Tane decides to go. Felicity tries to apologise to him for earlier but Tane isn’t interested. Mali gives them space as well. Felicity tries to ask how Mackenzie is and apologise but Mackenzie says she can’t be between her and Tane anymore and tells her to go. Dana backs her up and Felicity leaves, looking frustrated.

Tane runs into Alf outside the surf club and gives him an update on Mackenzie. Tane comments on life not being fair. Alf says Roo told him what’s going on and notes no-one told men like him and Tane how to talk about things, advising him not to bottle it up. Back at the hospital, Dana and Mali try to keep things light as Mackenzie is shown into a private room. Bree and Levi arrive and they all convince Mali to go, with him saying he’ll check in tomorrow. Levi examines Mackenzie but admits he doesn’t know what’s wrong with her yet, saying he likes to be honest.
