Extended Summary

Near the surf club, Remi remarks that he thought Bree moving out was only temporary. Bree points out that her moving in was only temporary, to give the rest of the band and Kirby some space. Remi wonders if she hated living there. Bree assures him she didn’t and suggests she needs some caffeine to have this conversation.

At the Lyrik house, Kirby assures Eden that Remi sorted everything. Cash arrives and Eden wonders if he checked his phone before telling him Kirby’s out of her contract. She still expresses a few reservations and Kirby tries to reassure her, saying Forrest got eight of her songs out of it. Theo turns up and says Justin’s all right. Cash is pleased to hear that he’s awake.

Leah is helping Justin settle in a hospital bed after he’s been dischrged from ICU. He tries to talk about her proposal. They are interrupted by a man in hospital uniform, Jordan, who introduces himself as the wardsman and says to call him if there’s anything they need. Leah tells Justin she meant every word before they are interrupted again, by Cash. He wonders about the lack of guard and Leah says they had one in ICU. Cash asks Justin what he remembers, pointing out he was the one that took the phone call about the fake holiday.

At the Diner, Bree explains to Remi that this is the first time she’s lived independently and she’s enjoying it, and not ready to move back in yet. She assures him they’re not breaking up, they’re dating. Nearby, Marilyn is on the phone to someone saying the slide show’s ready for tomorrow’s presentation. Alf comes in and asks for three sandwiches, saying he’s going back to Merimbula to surprise Martha.

Cash apologises for not properly closing down Vita Nova, before leaving Leah and Justin to it. Justin reminds Leah she’s always been dead against the idea of getting married before. Leah says she thought she was going to lose him and was doing anything to keep him alive. Justin tells her he will marry her. Meanwhile, Cash goes round to see Rose and asks why there’s no guard on Justin and why no-one’s been around to take his statement. Rose reminds him she can’t discuss the case with a civilian, which he is right now, and points out she was on her way out (in uniform) and he’s stopped her from leaving.

Outside the Lyrik house, Kirby announces to Theo and Eden that the album is back available for download and suggests using her contacts to alert the media. Theo, somewhat subdued, says he’ll update their socials. Cash calls by to chat about his visit to Justin but leaves quickly, saying he’ll call later. Meanwhile, Remi and Bree arrive back at the flat with Remi receiving confirmation they’ve got the songs back. Bree hugs and kisses him and wonders if he wants to head back. Remi wonders if there’s a better offer. After joking that she doesn’t kiss on a first date, Bree kisses him again.

At the hospital, Rose asks Justin about the car he stopped to help. Justin recalls men getting out of the back, putting hoods over their heads and dragging them away, but can’t offer descriptions beyond one of them being tall and dark. He says he knew it was Vita Nova because one of them mentioned Margot and because of the graffiti saying “The end is near.” Leah says they went over this with Cash. Rose leaves them for now and calls her sergeant asking about the lack of guard.

Marilyn arrives at the surf club and tells Alf there’s a storm coming so it’s too dangerous for him to drive. Alf replies that he’s driven through storms before. Marilyn suggests he give Martha time to miss him. Alf says he’ll give Marilyn information on running the caravan park before he goes. Jumping on this, Marilyn says she can’t run the caravan park and do Leah’s shifts at the Diner, so he’ll have to stay.

Jordan tucks Justin in before Leah comes back. Leaving the room, he calls someone saying there hasn’t been a cop on the door all afternoon and asking if he should make a move. At the Diner, Marilyn is serving Rose. Alf turns up and says he’s checked the weather and there’s no mention of a storm. Marilyn says last time he went away things fell apart between her and Roo, and wants him to stay for one or two days until they’re more stable.

Leah says her goodbyes to Justin, calling him her fiance. As she heads towards the lift, Jordan makes a move towards the room but stops when a police guard shows up. At the Diner flat, Remi and Bree are in a state of undress. Remi notes he should get going. Bree thanks him for being all right with everything. Meanwhile, Eden goes round to see Cash, wondering what happened to him coming back for a talk. Cash admits it’s frustrating that the police don’t seem to be doing anything about Vita Nova and blames himself for not doing a better job with them. Eden gets a text saying Remi’s back and Cash sends her on her way.

Remi is in a good mood when Eden turns up but Theo and Kirby are less so: They haven’t heard anything from their industry contacts and no-one’s posted on socials or downloaded the album. Kirby wonders if the fake gig stunt has backfired. Remi isn’t concerned and says there’s something they have to do. At the hospital, Jordan loiters around the police guard, who notes he was called in on his day off and is having dinner from a vending machine instead of with his wife. Jordan suggests he go to the staff room for food, promising to keep an eye on Justin. After the guard is gone, Jordan approaches Justin with a pillow but is interrupted by Theo, Kirby, Eden and Remi, whose arrival wakes Justin up. Kirby tells him Lyrik are back together and Remi says they’ll need a manager.

At the coffee cart, Marilyn is on the phone to Irene, saying she’s got Alf to stay put. At that point, Alf arrives: He is still intending to go, since Roo has said everything’s fine. Marilyn says they all need to sit down and talk it through before he goes. Meanwhile, Eden, Remi and Theo are bemused to find Kirby has set up their gear round the back of the house. Kirby introduces a video saying Lyrik are back, before the group perform.
