Can Lyrik triumph at Battle of the Bands? Felicity is in grave danger. John’s on the road to disaster.

Extended Summary

Bree and Felicity meet up outside the surf club. Bree comments on going to see Remi and claims to barely remember what he looks like. Felicity says she feels the same about Tane. John comes past and comments on the Battle of the Bands being tomorrow. He is looking forward to an end to Lyrik’s rehearsals.

At their house, Lyrik are finishing off their last rehearsal. Remi and Mercedes are both optimistic, with Remi trying to gee up the band. Bree turns up and compliments them, before suggesting Theo speak to Leah. Kirby offers to put his guitar in the van with the rest of their stuff. Bree invites Remi to dinner but Mercedes promptly accepts for the rest of them as well. Eden checks on Kirby, seeing if she’s all right over Theo and everything.

At the Diner, John complains to Marilyn that Alf sends him a list of jobs every day. The latest one includes having to clear out the surf club garage and he notes he’s used to the council taking stuff away. Roo comes in and John asks her when Alf’s back. Roo says it’ll be whenever Martha’s sick of him. John realises he’ll have to hire a van himself. Marilyn says if he’s going to the tip, he can take the Stunning Organics boxes there. She hands him the one containing the bomb.

At the surf club, Mercedes beats Eden in a game of pool. Eden and Kirby decide it’s time to go upstairs and eat. John turns up and Bree tells Remi he’s excited for the Battle of the Bands. Remi offers to get him a ticket and John says he’s had enough of their rehearsing. Remi innocently taps the top of the bomb box before John takes it into the office.

Upstairs, Felicity asks the band how the competition works. Remi, Kirby, Eden and Mercedes explain that each band has ten minutes and three of them go through to the final. The judges pick two and the other one is whichever band gets most noise from the audience. Mercedes suggests espresso martinis for everyone. Eden sticks to beer and Bree to water. Mercedes proposes a toast to them.

Theo goes to see Justin at the hospital. Justin says Andrew is at home with Leah, who Theo has spoken to. Justin asks Theo how he’s feeling about tomorrow. With a bit of prompting, Theo admits it’s a bigger audience than he’s used to and he’s stressed. Justin tries to reassure him.

Eden can see that Kirby is still not happy about Theo. Mercedes suggests she plays up to it and uses it on stage, saying sexual chemistry between exes is hot, which Felicity agrees with. Bree takes Remi out onto the balcony for a private talk, suggesting they go back to hers. Mercedes interrupts the moment and Remi tells her he can’t stay with her tonight because he has an early start. Later, Kirby, Eden and Remi all arrive back home with Mercedes and Bree. Remi says they have an early start tomorrow. Bree realises there won’t be room in the van for her and says she’ll drive down with Felicity. Eden manages to get Mercedes to leave (although she takes a bottle with her). Kirby goes to bed and Bree says her goodbyes to Remi.

Across the road at the Parata house, Felicity and Mercedes are pouring drinks. Felicity notes she’s not used to having company in the evenings, since Tane usually has early starts. Mercedes says she can’t believe that Felicity’s married and wonders how it happened. Felicity says she just found the right person. Mercedes says Remi’s the same, settled down. Felicity thinks it’ll happen to Mercedes one day.

Back at the Lyrik house, Remi is strumming the guitar, which makes Eden realises he’s nervous. She helps him realise that Bree wanted to spend time with him and he chucked her out to spend all his time with Mercedes. Remi goes round to see Bree at her flat and tells her he must need medical attention, since he told his really hot girlfriend to go home on her own. He says he and Mercedes are just really good mates. Bree admits their connection can be intimidating. Remi says he only has eyes for one girl.

Next morning. Lyrik park their van outside the venue. The place is already packed with people. Remi says they’ll focus on the group. Theo is rather overwhelmed at how many people are there, although Mercedes says she’s played to way bigger crowds. Theo ends up throwing up in a bush. At the surf club, Roo checks with John for Alf if he’s started clearing out the garage. John says to tell him that he’s picking up the van. Roo reminds him about Marilyn’s boxes. Felicity and Bree come through and John tells them to give Lyrik his best wishes.

Backstage at the venue, Lyrik can hear the previous band perorming. Remi says they’re on in two bands’ time. He and Mercedes both think it’s a good placing but Eden continues to argue with Mercedes. Kirby announces that Dylan Phillips, a top record producer, is in the audience. Felicity and Bree turn up and Felicity gives Theo a pep-talk for his stage fright. Meanwhile, Roo arrives at the Diner and tells Marilyn about John getting the van to pick up the boxes. They note this will be the end of Stunning Organics.

Lyrik hear the previous band finishing. Felicity gets a call from Tane and tells them that he’s just landed so she might have to bail early. The announcer tells them they’re on next and then announces them to the audience. Theo is still looking a bit nervous and Remi says they’ll start with Eden’s song. Eden announces All of You, with Mercedes helping to rile up the crowd. Theo begins to relax in the back-up performance. Felicity and Bree leave their table to get closer to the stage. Someone pours something into one of the drinks, shortly before Felicity drinks from it.

Shortly after, with the band performing their new song and Theo and Kirby managing to relax together, Felicity is looking ill and tells Bree she’s going to go and get some water. Bree looks uncomfortable at the way Remi and Mercedes are sparking off each other. Meanwhile, Felicity is staggering down a staircase elsewhere in the building, having a hard time focusing. She makes it to the bottom of the stairs but then sinks to the floor and passes out.
