Cash storms Vita Nova to save Justin. Leah defends Andrew. Marilyn has no idea of the danger she’s in.
Extended Summary
Xander and Bree chat as they come back from a surf, with Bree revealing the Battle of the Bands is tomorrow and Remi is busy rehearsing. They run into Mackenzie, with Bree saying she should have joined them out there. Mackenzie asks Xander about Kate and gets a rather defensive response before he heads off. Bree asks a reluctant Mackenzie for information.
At the compound, Justin is trying to stagger and limp away but it’s a losing battle. Andrew hurries over to him and Justin tries to get him to run. Margot tells Andrew to go inside. Andrew says to call an ambulance. Margot says they’ll deal with it and two of her men carry Justin away.
Marilyn arrives at the Diner and apologises to Irene for being late, saying she keeps getting interview requests and is hoping to flush the CEO out. Irene mentions the box. Marilyn says she couldn’t find it when she came in last night. Irene explains about Leah taking it home. Marilyn gets distracted by another interview request before telling Irene she’ll get it in her break. Irene advises her to call Leah first.
At the Morgan house, Leah answers Marilyn’s call in a rather distracted manner, saying to pick it up any time. Cash comes back in and says his sergeant has authorised the trace on Justin’s phone. Leah tries to get him to commit to how long it will take. Cash says it’s usually pretty quick.
Justin is back in the container, now in considerable pain. Andrew comes up, annoyed Margot didn’t do anything to help. He says his dad taught him how to slow the bleeding, tying a tourniquet around the leg. Justin asks if Andrew knows where his phone is and if he can get to it. He asks him to call the police and an ambulance. Andrew goes to the main building and finds a locked cupboard. He picks the lock and retrieves the phone: There are also several IDs in there and Justin’s wallet. Despite someone nearly walking in on him, he unlocks the phone.
Cash confirms to Leah that the phone has been traced to Vita Nova and he’s going to try and get a warrant. At that moment, they get the call from Andrew on Justin’s phone. He says that Justin’s hurt and it’s bad, before putting the phone down. Cash says he’ll call his sergeant and meet the taskforce and ambos out there, talking Leah out of going with him.
Cash cuts his way through the gate at the compound and leads a convoy of police vehicles in. Armed police pour out and begin quickly subduing the cult members, ordering them to drop their weapons and get on the ground. Margot tries desperately to maintain control, saying they’re trespassing and the cult members shouldn’t listen to them but everyone ignores her. Andrew hurries over and leads the paramedics to Justin, despite Margot trying to keep him under control. Cash makes a point of personally cuffing Margot.
Meanwhile, Kate turns up at the Diner flat, telling Xander she didn’t know who else to talk to: She just had an argument with Timothy’s mum, who refused to let her see him. Xander tries to console her. Bree turns up and Xander gives a vague explanation of what’s going on, declining her offer of help.
Leah looks at a photo of herself and Justin and leaves Cash a phone message wondering what’s happening. Irene comes round to check on her. Leah worries that Cash isn’t calling her because he doesn’t want to give her bad news about Justin over the phone. Irene does her best to raise her spirits. Meanwhile, the taskforce are quizzing the cult members, who are denying knowledge, and taking their items as evidence. Justin is being looked after in an ambulance and Andrew asks to go with him. Cash is formally arresting Margot. Margot protests they can’t leave there and she was doing what Andrew’s father wanted. She claims he’s killing them all. Cash says they’re all going to die, but not today.
Xander tries to reassure Kate but she says she has no rights now Jamie’s gone. While Kate is freshening up, Bree comes from her room, dressed for work. She says she spoke to Mackenzie but Xander sharply says not to listen to everything Mackenzie says. Kate walks in on the heated discussion and Xander says Bree was just leaving. He suggests he and Kate go for something to eat.
Leah is still fretting when Marilyn turns up for the box. Marilyn starts saying that she doesn’t know if it’s a mistake or a joke but Leah cuts her short, politely asking her to leave. She then gets a call from Cash. At the hospital, the paramedics, accompanied by Andrew, deliver Justin to Bree, with part of the arrow still in place. Leah turns up and joins Andrew as Bree realises Justin is going into hypovolaemic shock and prepares him for surgery.
Xander and Kate are on the balcony at Salt, with Kate explaining that Timothy’s mum says he needs stability. Xander protests that Kate’s been in his life a long time. Kate says it’s been since he was a baby but his mum didn’t listen when she said that. Xander takes her hand, which is seen by a worried-looking Mackenzie.
Bree gives Leah and Andrew an update on Justin but can’t tell them anything other than that the doctors are doing everything they can. Leah does her best to reassure Andrew. Margot gets dragged in by Cash, still protesting: He tells Bree the taskforce have organised a psychiatric assessment. Seeing Andrew, Margot accuses him of ruining everything they’ve worked for, which leaves him shaken.
At Salt, Xander says his goodbyes to Kate before noticing Mackenzie watching. Mackenzie asks if Kate is okay and Xander explains the situation. Mackenzie sympathises but reminds him he wanted to take a step back. Xander says Kate has no-one else in his corner and he’s going to support her. Mackenzie says she’s there if he needs to download.
Margot is brought back again and has a go at Andrew, telling him he has blood on his hands. Leah says she’s the one with blood on her hands and they invited her into her home only for her to lie to them and Andrew. Margot tells Andrew his father would die of shame, prompting Leah to slap her. Margot asks if Cash is going to charge her with assault and Cash says he didn’t see anything.
Soon after, Bree has taken Leah and Andrew to a recovering Justin and says Andrew’s quick thinking saved him. Cash comes back and says Margot’s with the mental health team. He and Bree briefly chat about what will happen to Andrew in the long term and the Battle of the Bands. Andrew offers to leave Justin and Leah alone but they tell him to stay.
Irene says her goodbyes to Marilyn at the Diner and isn’t happy that she brought the box back there. In a motel room, a shadowy figure is surrounded by articles about Marilyn and is watching her video over and over again. There is bomb-making gear in the room. Marilyn chats to Roo on the phone about doing another interview and says the CEO won’t know what’s hit him, still unaware the bomb is so close by.
