Extended Summary

Mackenzie runs into Xander after a surf and apologises to him for interfering with Kate. Xander says it’s all right. Rose and Mali approach and Xander and Mackenzie joke about who will have to look after them tonight, playing rock-paper-scissors to decide. At the Morgan house, Justin is all fired up to go and get Andrew, reminding Leah that she told him he was responsible. Leah says she was wrong and urges him to tell Cash about the note. Justin agrees but turns down her offer to go with him.

At the Diner, Irene is on the phone to Marilyn, complaining that the Stunning Organics box is in the way. Xander takes it from her and she tells him to leave it at the end of the counter. She gives him his takeaway before asking him about working at Salt and about Jamie’s family. Up in the flat, Rose tries to suggest to Mali that they go away for the weekend but he says he’s organising his mum’s birthday party, saying “you can’t miss it”. Xander turns up and says he’s going to give Kate space, but seems to have second thoughts when he finds the order of service from Jamie’s funeral in a drawer.

Leah is looking restless and leaves Justin a phone message asking how it went with Cash. She then discovers Cash is at the front door and he says he hasn’t seen Justin. Leah shows him the note that Andrew gave Justin and worries Justin might have gone to rescue him. Cash drives to the compound where the gate guards radio to say he’s there and are told to bring him to Margot. They escort him into the community where Margot and Andrew meet him. Margot says Justin hasn’t been there and, with a bit of prompting, Andrew backs her up. Cash asks to look around but Margot refuses without a warrant and threatens to report him if he doesn’t go. Cash drives off, passing a container where Justin is lying unconscious.

Xander, Rose and Mali chat as they walk to the surf club. After Mali has gone inside, Rose tells Xander that he invited her to his mother’s birthday party and she’s worried about the pressure. She suddenly notices Kate and Xander explained he rang and asked her to meet him. They head up to Salt. Xander orders some OJs from Mackenzie who promises no judgement. He suggests to Kate that they go out onto the balcony.

At the Diner, Leah is telling Irene the latest with Justin going missing. She nearly trips over the box and offers to take it home to get it out of the way. As she’s leaving, Cash turns up and says there was no sign of Justin at the compound. Neither of them trust Margot but he hasn’t got enough proof to get a search warrant. Leah is unimpressed by his suggestion they stay away.

Andrew rouses Justin (who has a cut over his eye) and offers him some water, saying he told him to stay away. They are interrupted by Margot, who orders Andrew back to work. Justin says Andrew just brought him some water. Margot wonders why Cash thinks he’s there but also says he’s gone. She locks Justin inside.

Rose and Mali are discussing the birthday at Salt, with Mackenzie chiming in. Mali is bemused at how interested Rose is in what he’s getting his mother. Cash turns up and orders a whiskey. He tells Rose that he thinks Margot has Justin, meaning both he and Andrew are in danger and the taskforce seem to just be waiting for another body to turn up. Rose says to concentrate on what he can do.

Xander and Kate chat, with Xander assuring her he doesn’t think she’s trying to replace Jamie. He suggests dinner but Kate decides to call it a night. Mackenzie comes out and says it’s on the house, apologising to Kate for what she said. Xander tells Kate she can come to him if she needs a friend.

Rose and Mali are on the balcony at the flat. Rose tries to bring up the party, saying she’s excited to meet everyone. Mali is taken aback, saying it’s family only and his comment just meant that he and his siblings can’t miss it. Rose admits she’s relieved since she’s been stressing about it. Mali says they’ll get together one day.

Meanwhile, Cash goes round to see Leah. He handed over the note to the taskforce but they’ve also told Leah they can’t act without a warrant. Leah says Theo is at his mum’s and she hasn’t told him. Cash offers to stay and keep her company. Leah moves the box onto the table to give him room to sit down.

Next morning, Andrew goes to see Justin again and tells him to go while everyone’s at breakfast. Justin tries to get Andrew to go with him but Andrew says he has to stay there and if Justin keeps going back, this’ll keep happening. Meanwhile, Cash makes a frustrating phone call to the taskforce, telling Leah they’re not going to do anything. He suddenly realises what he has to do: Report Justin missing so his phone will be traced.

An unusually flustered Margot is telling her people to search for Justin, telling Andrew if he gets away they’ll lose everything they’ve worked for. Justin is sneaking around the buildings and dashes for a clear space, only for someone to shoot him through the leg with an arrow.
