Extended Summary

Justin runs into Theo down on the beach and asks him about the gig last night. Theo says it went well but admits Kirby cancelled at the last minute. They discuss how well Mercedes is fitting in before Justin suggests Theo go home and meet Leah. Theo suggests Justin come as well but Justin decides to give her a wide berth for the moment.

At the coffee cart, John and Kirby ask Marilyn about her visit to the police station. Marilyn says Cash told her not to do any interviews: She wasn’t going to do them anyway but she doesn’t want Stunning Organics to feel like they’ve won. John thinks it’s best not to muck around with them. After he’s gone, Marilyn and Kirby discuss her break-up with Theo. Kirby admits she can’t even face rehearsals. Marilyn says Kirby and Theo need to find a way to be friends. Kirby says Marilyn and John seem to have managed it and Marilyn says it’s taken work.

Theo greets Leah at home and asks about Stella. Leah says the care place the family have found is nice. Theo asks about Justin. On hearing he’s down on the beach, Leah wants to go and see him but Theo thinks he needs space. Leah says she said some things she shouldn’t have. They discuss Kirby avoiding Theo. At the surf club, Mackenzie is surprised to see Xander back. He admits he didn’t hang around at the football game, since he felt out of place with Kate being with Timothy and his mum and her parents being there. Mackenzie offers him the day off but he declines.

Theo and Leah discuss Justin’s attempts to get Andrew back. Leah feels bad for snapping at him and also for Andrew. Theo admits it was part of the reason he and Kirby broke up. Leah convinces him to go and see her. As he does, Justin comes back and confirms he got Leah’s texts. Leah apologises. Justin says she didn’t say anything he hasn’t already thought.

Kirby is telling Marilyn about her difficulties with the songs. Theo turns up and asks to talk. Marilyn gives them space. Kirby snipes that she’s surprised he noticed she wasn’t at the gig. Theo says Mercedes needs to rehearse with the whole band and they need to work on Kirby’s new song. Some more snark has Theo giving up but Kirby chases him and apologises. Theo talks about the problems at home and Kirby offers to talk on her break.

John brings Mackenzie her mail at Salt. He is tired from Lyrik’s contant rehearsals although he prefers the violinist to the band. Kate turns up to see Xander. Mackenzie says she’s there quickly after the match. Kate says they’re only 45 minutes, so not much of a commitment. She asks to talk to Xander in private and Xander reminds Mackenzie she offered him the day off. Mackenzie tries to claim they have some big tables coming in. Xander just says to call him if she needs him. Back at the Morgan house, Justin talks to Leah about Andrew setting the guards on him and says they might have to accept that Andrew has chosen to be there. They decide to go for a walk and a meal.

Theo and Kirby are walking on the beach. Theo talks about everything that’s been going on with Andrew and how it’s on his mind. Kirby does her best to be understanding and says they’ll be okay if they keep talking. Theo asks her about rehearsals later and understands why she can’t commit to it. As he walks away, she looks after him somewhat wistfully.

At the Diner flat, Kate explains to Xander that she didn’t want Timothy picking up on her stress and thought him being there would make it easier. Mackenzie turns up and interrupts them, prompting Kate to leave. Xander thinks he shouldn’t have bailed on her and she needs his support. Meanwhile, Leah and Justin have taken a table at Salt. Leah gets a text from Theo saying he’s spoken to Kirby. Justin hopes Lyrik can win the competition and they muse on moving on to focusing on the band again. Leah looks cold so Justin gives her his jacket.

At the Diner, John is checking on Marilyn as Kirby arrives. John tells her to do what Cash said and lie low. After he’s gone, Marilyn admits to Kirby that she feels people were counting on her to speak out. They discuss the fact that Kirby still has feelings for Theo before Marilyn says she wants to keep helping the victims. Kirby films a video of her where she talks about Stuning Organics’ threats, says the products cause harm and the brand ambassadors are treated like dirt, calls the missing CEO a bully and a coward, and vows to bring the company down.

Mackenzie tracks Kate down by the beach. She apologises for interrupting, prompting Kate to ask what her problem is. Mackenzie says she lost her partner recently too and understands, but as Xander’s friend, she thinks Kate leaning on him is putting too much pressure on him. Kate asks if she’s accusing her of trying to replace Jamie with Xander and says Mackenzie has no idea what she’s going through.

Kirby tells Marilyn she’s uploaded the video to the business account, the victims’ group and her own socials. Marilyn finishes her shift. Theo comes in and asks Kirby if she’s changed her mind about rehearsals. Kirby decides that she’ll be there in an hour after she’s finished her own shift. After Theo’s gone, Marilyn tells Kirby it gets easier.

Xander is checking his phone when Kate turns up at the flat. She tells him she spoke to Mackenzie and that Xander should have just told her he didn’t want to spend time with her. Xander protests that’s not what he said but Kate says he won’t see her again. Xander goes to confront Mackenzie, saying she’s made Kate feel like an incovenience and it’s none of her business. Justin and Leah approach to pay the bill. Justin asks Leah for his wallet from his jacket pocket. In retrieving it, Leah finds a note in the other pocket which Justin realises is from Andrew.

Back home, they look over the note (“Justin stay Away peeple will get hurt”) and Justin realises Andrew must have put it in his pocket when he grabbed him. Leah wonders whether Andrew’s talking about Justin or himself. Justin realises Andrew knew he’d come for him, meaning he hasn’t been brainwashed and is still thinking for himself.

At the Diner, Kirby takes a box from a courier and calls Marilyn, saying it’s a Stunning Organics delivery with no invoice and suggesting either it’s a mistake or they’re messing with her. She puts the box in the kitchen, unaware it contains a bomb…
