Extended Summary

Tane and Kahu head towards the surf club with Tane checking Kahu is serious about wanting a job. He asks when Kahu qualified as a trainer. Kahu admits that he isn’t actually qualified but he knows his way around a gym. Tane says Kahu can’t train people without being qualified. Alf appears and Tane introduces him and Kahu to each other. Kahu says he’s working at the gym and Alf offers to help sort out the insurance.

At the Lyrik house, Eden is complaining to Cash about him having to work nights. Kirby appears and asks Eden if she knows about the band meeting. Theo and Remi arrive and Kirby wonders if Justin will go back to managing them now, which Theo doesn’t know. Remi announces that all non-Lyrik are banned from the meeting, getting Cash to leave. Eden and Kirby refuse to work without breakfast so Remi takes Eden to get takeaway. Kirby goes in the shower, leaving Theo on his own.

Felicity is vacuuming furiously as Cash comes home and tells him about their unexpected house guest. He quickly realises Felicity isn’t happy about it. Felicity says she got used to having Tane to herself and admits that makes her selfish. Cash suggests needy. He tries to say Kahu will be gone soon but Felicity explains about him asking for a job. Cash reminds her that family’s important to Tane who let him stay here. Felicity says she’ll kick him out to win the argument, throwing a cushion at him.

At the surf club, Alf helps Tane sort out the paperwork and they discuss Kahu growing up with Tane. Felicity joins them, moments before Kahu appears in uniform. He offers to help out with kick boxing but Tane reiterates that he isn’t going near clients until he’s qualified. Felicity is thrown, asking how Kahu working there is going to work. Tane says there’s plenty of other stuff to do.

Theo and Kirby talk to each other through the shower curtain as she dries herself. They discuss all the community service and counselling Justin has to do, with Theo admitting he’s not sure Justin’s even thought about the band. They wonder what’s got into Remi. Walking back along the beach, Eden recognises the look on Remi’s face and realises he hooked up with Bree. Remi notes things are looking up for all of them and it’s time to get back to Lyrik.

Theo is strumming the guitar while Kirby mimes playing the keyboard. Remi and Eden arrive back and they hand the food out. Remi thanks Kirby for paying the bills before declaring they need to hit up their old venues and get gigging again. The others are enthusiastic. Later, Remi asks for wild ideas and they suggest electronica and rearranging the set list. They discuss getting in touch with the venues they had to cancel on last minute. Remi says they need five new songs and Kirby notes Theo bought her a new song book to replace the one Ava destroyed.

Tane and Kahu are walking near the surf club. Tane says Kahu can just do admin and laundry and checks he is serious about the job, saying they could get sued if he trains clients while not qualified. They run into Cash and Felicity, and Cash and Kahu are introduced to each other. Tane announces an early break so he can talk to Felicity. Kahu tries to get Cash to sign up to the gym and they go for a coffee. Felicity tries to tell Tane she doesn’t have a problem with Kahu, simply questioning him not being qualified.

Cash and Kahu chat up in Salt. Cash says it must have been a surprise when Tane and Felicity turned up married. Kahu says Gemma went mad. He expresses regret about not being there for the wedding or Ari’s death. He notes he always looked up to Tane, but not to tell him he said that, and maybe Tane’s new responsible side will rub off on him.

Kirby looks through her song book but can’t suggest anything except a song about Stunning Organics. Remi says he’s no writer. Theo suggests Eden’s song. Eden quickly suggests they go to Salt to get drinks and talk things over with Mackenzie and Felicity. She goes into her room first and looks at the scrap of paper she wrote the song on. Later, Remi brings the other three drinks on the balcony at Salt and notes Mackenzie and Felicity aren’t there so they can’t discuss arrangements yet. They again bring up Eden’s song but she quickly shuts the conversation down, saying they’re not using it.

Tane and Felicity arrive home for lunch. Felicity is hoping for a long lunch break but Tane says he has to go back to check on Kahu. Felicity suggests Tane’s having to do more work because Kahu’s wrong for the job. Cash arrives back as Tane heads back to work. Felicity calls after him that if Kahu was qualified, he could run the session and they could be in bed. Cash is bewildered. Later, Cash chats to Felicity, saying it’s good for Tane to have family around and he liked Kahu when he spoke to him. Felicity is disappointed that he’s actually making sense.

At the surf club, Tane shows Kahu how to sign up new clients. Felicity turns up and gives Kahu Nikau’s old key to the house, saying he’ll need it now and welcoming him. Tane is grateful. Meanwhile, Eden and Remi arrive back at Lyrik’s house. Remi tries to assure Eden that she can still sing lead and he won’t even add a guitar solo. Eden insists that the song is personal and she’s not singing it in public again.

Theo and Kirby take a walk, with Theo bemused by Eden’s outburst. Kirby gets a text from Marilyn asking her to come into work early and notes at least she’ll avoid the crossfire at home. Back there, Remi knocks on Eden’s bedroom door but gets told to go away. Cash turns up and Remi leaves him to handle it. Cash goes into Eden’s room and she explains about the band wanting to use her song. Cash thinks that’s great but Eden just walks past him, annoyed.
