Extended Summary

Tane and Felicity are driving back into town: They are both in good spirits and Felicity says that, although they have a lot of work to do, she’s glad they’re together. She turns up the radio and starts singing along. Tane joins in as they pass the “Welcome to Summer Bay” sign. Outside the surf club, Remi has followed Bree and demands to know why she’s upset, reminding her she told him to stay away from her and asking what she was doing at his house. He says next time he won’t check on her if he sees her upset. Bree scornfully observes that he regrets that rather than sleeping with someone else. Rose comes along as Remi leaves in disbelief. She assumes Bree told him about the pregnancy. Bree says she didn’t and he spent the night with another woman.

At the Parata house, Eden is wearing Cash’s police shirt while he is wearing a towel. She claims it was the only thing she could find to put on. Cash says he has to go to work and that’s his only clean shirt. Eden tells him to take a sickie and they have the house to themselves. Cash tries to unbutton the shirt but she runs outside still wearing it. He reminds her that’s impersonating a police officer. They see Remi arriving home looking morose and Eden goes to check on him, still wearing the shirt.

Eden finds Remi clearing away his bed things from the previous night. He comments on her “new gig” with the uniform. Eden wonders why he spent the night on the couch. Remi shuts himself away in his room, telling her to go back to Cash. Meanwhile, a now dressed Cash is ringing in sick as Tane and Felicity arrive back. Felicity says she’s glad she went. Tane goes to have a shower and Felicity confirms she’s moving back in and she and Tane are together, saying they still have a lot to work through. Then she notices Eden’s bra.

Back at the Diner flat, Rose asks Bree if she’s feeling any better. Bree says she should have known Remi would move on or at least jump into bed with the first girl he saw. She complains that Remi said it was the two of them and she’s been worried about hurting him. Rose suggests Remi was telling the truth and last night was a reaction. Bree accepts she told him to move on and doesn’t have the right to be angry but says it’s over.

Cash and Felicity talk by the pool. Felicity has realised that she crashed Cash and Eden’s alone time. After she tries to ask him for too much information, Cash asks what happened at Gary’s. Felicity talks about seeing old photos of him and making Kath’s shepherd’s pie, before telling him about visiting their parents’ graves. She says their dad’s death was where it all started and letting all her anger out at the graveside helped: She apologised to Tane and somehow he still loves her. She says she was wrong that they don’t get a happy ever after. Inside, Tane looks at the family photos on the fridge door. Felicity comes back in and wonders if it feels strange being there without Nikau. Tane says Nikau’s doing what makes him happy. Felicity asks him to help pick up her stuff.

Remi is playing guiitar in his room. There’s a knock at the door and he tells them to go away but Eden (now wearing her own clothes) comes in anyway, and Remi notes knocking is a new thing for her. He tells her about Bree telling him to stay away from her and what happened with her and Clara. He is also resigned to it being over.

Cash and Eden meet up in a park area. He jokes about her being out of uniform and she is slightly surprised he actually did chuck a sickie. He fills her in on Felicity and Tane coming back, while Eden says Bree is messing with Remi’s head again. She goes around to see Bree and tells her Remi can’t deal with her going back and forth. She says Bree can’t break up with Remi and then judge him. Bree refuses to explain and Eden suspects there’s something she hasn’t told Remi, before saying to let him go if she doesn’t want to be with him. She leaves as Rose comes back. Rose says Eden was just protecting her friend. Bree says she’s not going to tell Remi about the pregnancy so the decision’s hers: She’s not ready to be a mother, so she’s not going to have the baby.

Tane and Felicity arrive back at the Parata house with boxes. Cash joins them as Felicity takes a box inside. Cash wonders what’s going to happen about the wedding. Tane says he’s not going to mention it and just cares about having Felicity back. He takes the last box inside and Felicity comments on how they both look happy. After Tane’s left the room, Felicity picks up the box with the engagement ring and looks at it with a mixture of excitement and uncertainty.

Eden arrives home to find Remi packing up the van. He says he’s going to go away for a few days and maybe do some busking. Eden offers to go with him but he says he just wants to be alone. He drives off, leaving her looking disappointed. Meanwhile, Felicity drags Tane down the beach, saying she got ocean withdrawal at Gary’s. She says she’s done running from the past and knows their future is together. She gets down on one knee and produces the engagement ring, asking him to marry her. Tane looks uncertain and there’s an awkward silence.
