Extended Summary

Eden and Felicity walk on the beach. Felicity happily celebrates being free of booze, having not drunk since the DUI, and suggests Eden join her. Eden jokingly replies that she loves her vodka sodas more than Felicity. She wonders if Felicity should deal with the problems that caused her to drink and Felicity quips about Eden being her therapist. They see Tane up ahead and Felicity quickly heads off in the opposite direction.

Bella is getting dressed while Nikau lies on the bed. He says he misses this. Bella straddles him and he flips her over. As they cuddle up, he suggests he could go to New York with her. Bella asks what happened to every reason he couldn’t come before: His family, his job, the Bay. Nikau says he’s not going to let her get away again but Tane has to be OK with it. In the house’s main area, Cash is on the phone to Eden as Tane comes home. Cash comments on him going to work early and then heads out. Nikau and Bella appear with Bella raving about New York. Nikau belatedly reveals Bella stayed over. Tane rather bluntly says they don’t need to ask his permission.

At Salt, Felicity objects to Remi looking at her. He says he’s just glad to see her back in the swing of things. Bree comes in and Felicity rather abruptly points her towards Remi. Bree asks Remi about a flyer saying the full line-up of Lyrik is playing soon. Remi says he had his brace off yesterday, he’s got the all clear from his specialist and they’ll see how it goes. As they talk, Felicity drops a plate loudly. Later, the two of them exit the surf club. Bree admits to feeling guilty about what happened to him and being glad he can play again. Remi reassures her.

Dean and Ziggy greet Bella on her return to the farm. Dean is quickly despatched to see to a crying Izzy. Ziggy and Bella joke about her being back with Nikau. Back at the Parata house, Tane goes to his room and looks at the ring again. Nikau comes in and Tane apologises for being rude to Bella. Nikau asks Tane how he feels about him going to New York. Tane says Nikau doesn’t need his permission to take a holiday but Nikau explains he’s going to move there. Tane says he can’t just follow some girl to the other side of the world and asks what about his job. Nikau says he could try something else. Tane asks what he’ll do when it falls apart. Nikau asks why he’s being so negative. Tane says you can only count on yourself.

At the Lyrik house, Cash plays on the keyboard. He asks Eden how her song writing’s going. Eden says Kirby’s the song writer, she just dabbles. Cash asks how she feels about the gig tonight. Eden hopes things will get back to normal. She wonders how he pulled Felicity through in the past. Cash says the first time it was the two of them living off the grid for nine months and the second time Tane did it. They wonder if the pair can repair their relationship.

Ziggy tells Bella it felt right when she got back with Dean as well. Dean comes in and Bella explains about Nikau wanting to go to New York with her. Dean checks it’s what she wants. Bella says she knows it’s a big risk but she never stopped loving him. She gushes about the idea of leaving with him, then gets a text from him.

Nikau is sat in the Diner as Irene and John chat about him taking Bella. John calls over to Nikau, wondering if he’ll be visiting Bella. Bella comes in and she and Nikau hug, which John comments is new. Nikau admits Tane isn’t on board and it’s bad timing. Bella is disappointed but gets it. John goes round to see Tane, saying it’s none of his business, apart from losing his best lifeguard, but Tane is standing in the way of Nikau’s chance of happiness. He tells him not to ruin it for Nikau because of what’s happened with Felicity.

Felicity is pacing back and forth in the store room at Salt, looking anxious. Cash and Eden turn up looking for her and Cash finds her in there. Felicity desperately says she didn’t touch anything before rushing out. Cash goes chasing after her. Felicity admits that it’s really hard. Cash wonders if she’s going to ask about Tane. Felicity replies that he’s miserable and it’s her fault. She apologises for making Cash and Eden spend time together again. Cash says it’s not that bad.

John is loading up the car near the surf club. Irene and Ziggy wait nearby with Izzy. Bella says she’ll show Izzy all the exhibitions and bars when her parents bring her to New York. Ziggy points out that Izzy’s underage and Bella retorts she’ll be twenty-one by the time they get around to visiting her. Dean joins them as Ziggy suggests Nikau might still come round. Bella says he’s loyal to Tane. She thanks Dean for getting her to talk to him, since at least she’s not angry anymore. After one last round of goodbyes, she drives off. Meanwhile, Nikau arrives home to find Tane has packed his bags and hands him his passport. Tane says Nikau has a second chance and belongs with Bella. After one last look around the house, Nikau smiles and follows him out.

John and Bella are driving past the “You are leaving Summer Bay” sign when a car behind starts honking and flashing them. They pull over: Inevitably, it’s Nikau and Tane. Nikau says he’s going with her and Bella is delighted. Nikau thanks Tane and they touch foreheads and hug. Tane tells them to take care of each other. Nikau echoes Tane’s words to him that it’s never too late. As they drive off, Bella says Nikau can change his mind and Nikau says he’s where he needs to be. Tane looks after them with mixed emotions.
