Eden works around Felicity’s wedding issues. Theo becomes fodder in Justin and John’s rivalry. Tane receives some bad news.
Extended Summary
Felicity joins Tane by the beach and insists on helping him set up for a class before admitting she’s hiding from Eden…who promptly appears. Felicity is fed up having to deal with wedding dresses, although Eden says Felicity started it by making her part of her bride tribe. Felicity refuses to set foot in another bridal shop. Eden accepts the challenge.
At the Lyrik house, Kirby finds Theo strumming a guitar and tells him Remi won’t like seeing him with it, and also that he needs to stop putting it off and go and see John, so John has a chance to get some new players. Theo is reluctant but says he has to be on Justin’s team because he’s family. Rose comes in and says she’s going but Kirby asks her to stay, because Theo has something to do.
John is in his office at the surf club when Theo turns up. John says he has a surprise for him, producing a t-shirt emblazoned with “Palmer’s Putters” and saying that a uniform improves morale. Theo blurts out that he can’t be on the team, further explaining that he’s on Justin’s team. Back at the house, Kirby tells Rose it’s a long and slightly pathetic story and wonders why men have to be so competitive. Rose says she and Xander are but they’re siblings. Eden comes home and is bemused to see Rose there. She asks for the van keys; Rose points them out on the table and Eden also takes Kirby’s coffee. Kirby confirms that it is always like this.
Mackenzie approaches Tane and Felicity in Salt and says she got the invite to their wedding. Tane jokingly says Felicity gets panicked by wedding talk. Mackenzie asks about a gift registry, insisting she’s getting them something. Tane steps away to answer a phone call and Mackenzie checks Felicity doesn’t have cold feet anymore. Tane tells the person on the phone that he’ll do his best. He kisses Felicity and suggests they go somewhere private.
They arrive back at the house in a clinch and are interrupted by a cough from Eden, who reveals she has a rack of wedding dresses with her. Tane was told to bring Felicity home. Eden points out Felicity didn’t actually say she didn’t want to try on any more dresses, just that she didn’t want to set foot in another bridal shop, so she convinced a shop owner she was a stylist and paid a hefty deposit to bring the shop to Felicity.
John and Theo exit the surf club. John accosts Justin and threatens to toss him out of the competition for unsporting behaviour, namely stealing his best player. Justin claims to have just given Theo an alternative but John calls it emotional blackmail and takes the t-shirt back off Theo. Later, Kirby and Rose come along, with Rose saying she’ll get Kirby out on the course next time. They see John putting up a poster advertising for players and Kirby realises Theo’s spoken to him. John tells her he’d ordered her a Palmer’s Putters shirt. Rose looks at the poster thoughtfully.
Tane tries to reassure Felicity as Eden insists the wedding dress is important since her children and grandchildren will see the wedding photos. She also tells Tane to go, since it’s bad luck to see the bride in her dress. Felicity protests he can wear a blindfold but Tane decides to go. Felicity checks Eden brought champagne. Later, Mackenzie finds Tane looking morose on the balcony at Salt. He says Gemma rang to say she can’t get time off her new job to come to the wedding and Mia and Chloe can’t face coming back either. Mackenzie says Ari would be proud of him.
Eden sorts through the dresses and picks out a “lacy number”. She tells Felicity she’s gone to a lot of effort and expense to do this. Felicity apologises for being a bridezilla. Eden says bridezillas actually want to plan their weddings. Felicity suggests she’s an anti-bridezilla. Eden agrees and wonders if that’s worse. Eden says it’s not her thing either but she’s trying.
A short time after, Eden knocks on the door of Felicity’s room where she’s changed into the dress, noting she thought Felicity had climbed out the window. Felicity looks at her reflection and is slightly overwhelmed by the realisation that she’s a bride. She says if she has to wear the dresses, so does Eden.
John is on the phone in the surf club, trying to get Cash to join up. Rose approaches and says she might be able to help. John suggests she could convince Cash or maybe arrest a golf pro and sentence him to community service. Rose says she can play and she’s good. Meanwhile, Kirby arrives at the Morgan house where Theo asks her for help brainstorming team names for Justin. Kirby tells him she’s decided to stay on John’s team. Theo is surprised but accepts being on opposing teams.
Felicity and Eden have both changed into wedding dresses, with Eden miming walking down the aisle but warning Felicity not to get wine on the dress because she’d have to sell a guitar to play for it. Eden wonders how Felicity would go to the toilet in her dress and Felicity says Eden would help her. Felicity thinks the dress Eden is modelling is a bit short. Tane comes home and tells Felicity she looks gorgeous (although she’s not actually going to wear that dress) but is a bit subdued as he goes out the back and leaves them to it. Meanwhile, Justin tells Kirby she’ll be easy to replace and checks Theo’s still on his team. John turns up and tells them he now has a full team and that Rose is a two times champion. He asks how many competition Theo has won and Theo admits he hasn’t won any.
Felicity joins Tane out the back and climbs onto the lounger with him, making sure to get her whole dress on there so it doesn’t get dirty. She suspects Tane is missing his brothers. Tane tells her about Gemma and Mia not coming. Felicity points out Nikau’s there. Tane says he’s feeling homesick, for the place, for the people and for his family.
